Abstract

Provisions regarding coffee exports have been regulated several times by Regulation of the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia until the most recent is Permendag No. 19 of 2021. Since the enactment of this regulation, all coffee business actors have had the opportunity to become Indonesian coffee exporters. This study discusses whether there has been a change in the value of coffee exports before and after Permendag No.19 of 2021 on coffee exports in Indonesia. The research methodology used is quantitative descriptive, using secondary data, which is analyzed using the Paired sample T-test to determine the difference in the average coffee export value before and after Permendag No.19 of 2021. The results show that the Government of Trade No.19 of 2021 influences Indonesian coffee exports. The value of Indonesian coffee exports after the implementation of Permendag No. 19 of 2019 has increased, which is relatively high, as seen from the correlation value, which reaches 96%. The ease of exporting coffee products after the Minister of Trade Regulation is one of the reasons. Permendag No.19 of 2021 in article 50 point (r) makes the coffee export process more accessible so that in addition to reaching a broader market, it also increases the emergence of new exporters. It allows coffee from upstream or farmers to directly access the international market.

Abstract

Demand for poultry products continues to increase. The quality of livestock commodities is obtained by providing good feed (good feeding practices). Feed is the most significant component of production costs, namely 60-70%. Utilizing the potential of local feed ingredients can reduce feed costs and improve livestock health. Herbal administration improves livestock performance through bioactive substances. Herbs used as feed ingredients are turmeric, ginger, and indigoferas leaf meal. Herbal plants function as natural antibiotics, antivirals, and antimicrobials. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using herbs in feed on production performance. The research location was in Mappesangka Village, Ponre District, Bone Regency, from April to December 2022. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment consisted of basal feed (control), basal feed 97% + herbs 3%, basal feed 96% + herbs 4%, and basal feed 95% + herbs 5%. Each experimental unit consisted of 4 chickens. The strain used was the Novogen strain aged 32 weeks as many as 80 individuals, reared for 28 days. The variables observed were feed consumption, conversion, hen day production, and egg weight. The data obtained were tabulated, then statistical analysis was carried out with ANOVA and Duncan's test. The results showed that the use of herbs had a significant (P<0.05) effect on Hen Day Production (HDP). The results showed that using as much as 3% of herbs could improve laying hens' production performance.

Abstract

Soybean is a protein source that is quite popular in Indonesia, so its demand is increasing every year. However, low production is one of the obstacles that causes these commodities to be imported from outside. One solution is to increase production by utilizing sandy land with low water holding capacity. This study aimed to determine the benefits of adding 2 types of biochar to the fungus isolate Pleurotus sp to increase yields on sandy soils. The study was arranged experimentally using a factorial design based on a randomized block design with 2 factors. The first factor was biochar treatment (J), including rice husk biochar (J1) and corncob biochar (J2). The second factor was the addition of Pleurotus sp fungus isolates, including without fungus (P1) and with fungus (P2). The results showed an increase in yield of pod weight, number of pods, number of seeds, and soybean production with the addition of Pleurotus sp to biochar. The increase in soybean yields using corn cob biochar added with Pleurotus was higher than rice husk biochar.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using fermented noni leaf flour and determine the appropriate level to support the productivity of broiler chickens. This study used one hundred DOC broiler chickens with feed consisting of corn, concentrate, bran, and fermented noni leaf meal. The study was arranged using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 noni leaf level treatments: P0: 0% fermented noni leaf powder, P1 = 5%, P2 = 10%, and P3 = 15%. The parameters observed were the weight and relative length of the digestive organs, the weight and percentage of the carcass, the weight and percentage of abdominal fat, and the percentage of carcass pieces. The results showed that the use of fermented noni leaf flour up to 15% in the ration had a significant effect (P>0.05) on the percentage of small intestine weight (duodenum, jejenum and ileum), cecum length, carcass weight, abdominal fat, thigh carcass pieces, and wing. However, it did not affect (P>0.05) the weight of the ventricular, proventriculus, cecum, large intestine, length of the small intestine and large intestine, and breast and back carcass pieces. Using fermented noni leaf flour up to 15% can increase the percentage of small intestine weight, caecum length, carcass weight, abdominal fat, carcass wing, and thigh pieces in broiler chickens aged 35 days.

Abstract

Handling of chicken carcass after slaughter needs to be prioritized to guarantee safety and quality. One method that can be applied is marination using abundantly available spices. Sihala fruit (Etlingera etalior) is a spice that is usually used as a flavoring for arsik dishes typical of Batak, which has a slightly sour taste and fresh aroma. This study aimed to develop marination using Sihala tamarind spices to improve the physical and microbiological quality of meat of rejected layers during storage. The meat of rejected laying hens was marinated for 30 minutes using siala acid with concentrations of 0%, 15%, 30%, and 45%. Storage is carried out for 24 hours to 48 hours then, followed by physical and microbiological quality measurements. The results showed that the marination using siala acid significantly (P<0.01) improved physical quality, reducing the percentage of cooking loss, lowering the pH value, increasing tenderness, and maintaining meat moisture. Samples that were marinated using siala acid significantly (P<0.01) also experienced a decrease in microbial growth compared to the control. Overall, the best physical and microbiological qualities were the samples of culled chicken marinated using Sihala tamarind juice at a concentration of 30% and 45% during a 24-hour storage period. Marinating using siala acid fruit juice is an effective strategy to improve rejected chicken meat's physical and microbiological quality. The tamarind siala has the potential as a natural preservative in meat during storage for 48 hours.

Abstract

Biofloc technology requires an additional carbon source (molasses) to balance the C/N ratio to support the bacteria's performance. The application of molasses should be done with sufficient time and concentration to guarantee the excellent condition of the floc. This study aims to determine the appropriate frequency of molasses application for the growth of siamese catfish (P. hypophthalmus) using Biofloc System Technology. The study used a completely randomized design of flour treatments and five replications. The frequency of molasses application was aimed to find the optimum results of applying it once a day (A), every two days (B), every three days (C), and every four days (D), each in the corresponding experimental units. The experiment was carried out in 35 days. The feed given was 5% of body weight, with a feeding frequency of twice daily. The results showed no difference in growth (weight) and feed efficiency for all treatments. However, it was found that the amount and nutrient content of the formed floc were more stable when molasses was given at a frequency every two days (treatment B) until the sixth week compared to other treatments. In conclusion, the frequency of giving molasses for flock growth twice a day can be applied for siamese catfish using the Biofloc system.

Abstract

The source of raw materials and the fermentation process carried out really need to be considered when processing it into chocolate bar products. This research aimed to determine the effect of seed origin and fermentation treatment on product quality and quality. The treatments in this research were cocoa beans from Soppeng Regency (South Sulawesi) and Polman Regency (West Sulawesi) with differences in fermentation time, namely 5 days and 7 days. The research results show that the raw material for cocoa beans used in making processed chocolate bars is influenced by the origin of the beans and the fermentation treatment. Visual test results showed that there was no difference in results for seeds from Soppeng and Polman. The processed product is brown in color and has a distinctive aroma because it comes from fermented cocoa beans. Testing for water content and fat content is greatly influenced by the fermentation process where a good stirring process during the fermentation process can increase the fat content and reduce the water content. Test results for metal contamination: Lead <0.0134, Cadmium <0.0013, Tin <0.0776, Mercury and Arsenic <0.0002. The results of microbial testing were TPC 1.2 x 101 and 7.0 x 101 colonies/g, Escherichia coli <3, Mold and Yeast 1.3 x 102 and 7.0 x 101 colonies/g and Salmonella was negative. The results of testing for metal contamination and microbiology show that processed cocoa products (chocolate bars) at the Politani Pangkep cocoa processing workshop are safe for consumption because they have test results below the SNI reference value.
