Abstract

ABSTRACT: The traditions of a community are often seen as a tourist attraction and used as a regional mainstay. One of the cultural expressions of the agricultural traditions of the Tanah Datar Regency community is Pacu Jawi. This research aims to analyze the spatial aspects of Pacu Jawi cultural tourism in terms of the human geography approach. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with the characteristics of in-depth interviews, holistic perspectives and comprehensive descriptions. Secondary data review was conducted for map analysis of other spatial attributes. The research locus is in four sub-districts, namely Pariangan, Lima Kaum, Sungai Tarab and Rambatan, all of which are within the administrative area of Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra Province. The research findings show that the Pacu Jawi tradition as a tourist attraction can maintain social cohesion and cultural sustainability of local communities. The location of Pacu Jawi in Tanah Datar Regency is known as Luhak Nan Tuo (home village) of the Minangkabau people, which shows the primacy of its cultural practices. Road access to the Pacu Jawi location is quite affordable with a choice of various routes with different distances and travel times. Public facilities such as accommodation and health services are available in the Regency Town. Socio-economically, Tanah Datar people mostly work as farmers and the dominant land use for rice fields shows that the Pacu Jawi tradition is still contextual and functional for the community.

Abstract

Gunungkidul Regency experiences a clean water crisis every year due to the prolonged dry season and the geological condition of the Gunungkidul region, which is dominated by karst mountains, so that rainwater that falls on the ground surface will immediately seep into the ground and then form underground rivers. This research aims to see how disaster management in drought-prone areas by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Gunungkidul Regency. This research uses a qualitative method by conducting interviews and observations. The results of this study indicate that in the face of drought BPBD Gunungkidul Regency has carried out various disaster management activities consisting of pre-disaster stages which include mitigation, preparedness and warning activities by producing various activities of mapping disaster-prone areas, monitoring weather forecasts and the formation of Disaster Resilient Villages/Groves and Disaster Safe Education Unit Schools (SPAB), during disasters by providing clean water dropping assistance and post-disaster at this stage BPBD Gunungkidul Regency conducts activities, namely rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Abstract

Indonesia is a region that is vulnerable to earthquake and tsunami disasters. As a mitigation effort a disaster vulnerability map is needed. This study aims to produce a tsunami vulnerability map of the environment by implementing a geographic information system (GIS) in Aceh Barat District. Tools and materials used are: 1) computer device assisted by ArcGis Software version 10.4.1. 2) Parameter map (Land use map in West Aceh District, Map of river border distance, Beach border distance, Map of Aceh Barat District elevation map, West Aceh District slope map). Data were analyzed by scoring and weighting with overlay techniques. The results showed that the area with a very high vulnerability category was at the mouth of the river and the area of the Woyla River, Bubon River, and Meureubo River with an area of up to 10 . Areas with a very low vulnerability category are in the Sungai Mas and Pante Ceureumen Districts with an area of 1611.. Suggestions in this research are the need for more specific mapping, such as mapping of social, economic, and physical vulnerability, so that the impact of the tsunami disaster from various vulnerability factors can be minimized

Abstract

The purpose of this assessment is to identify which councils on Sanma Island are vulnerable to earthquake hazards. To measure vulnerability, it is necessary to identify certain contributing components, including exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity. Exposure and sensitivity contribute to increasing the vulnerability, while adaptive capacity contributes to decreasing the vulnerability. Using this scheme, we identify specific variables for each component. These variables are called vulnerability variables. Next, we employ the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to obtain scores for each variable. Following the vulnerability assessment, five councils are categorized as areas with high vulnerability scores, including Canal-Fanafo, East Malo, East Santo, West Malo, and West Santo. This is because these areas are relatively close to the source of the threat (earthquake hazard). Moreover, these councils have a limited number of public facilities.

Abstract

Landslide disasters in Indonesia are increasing, one of which is in Tulungagung Regency, East Java Province, including areas that are quite vulnerable to landslides. It was recorded that 55 landslides hit Tulungagung Regency and caused considerable losses. From the results of the review, it becomes a parameter for researchers to offer pre-disaster mitigation programs in the form of providing posters containing disaster mitigation materials to communities in landslide-prone areas. The choice of poster media is because the information conveyed is easier to reach and understand by the public. In this study, researchers used a measurement tool in the form of a questionnaire that was distributed to 76 respondents so that initial understanding through Pretest and improvement after giving poster media through Posttest. The results of data analysis in which, the value of knowledge of the people who were respondents in this study was considered better and, in the Wilcoxon, test obtained a result of <0.05 showed that poster media is effective as a medium in supporting disaster preparedness in Tulungagung Regency

Abstract

This article aims to enhance teachers' skills in creating interactive learning media and to improve teachers' understanding of pedagogical aspects that can be seen in the lesson planning process, especially in the selection of models or methods and learning media. This activity was conducted at Building B, Room 23302, Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Padang, using training methods, question and answer sessions, and practical exercises. Participants in this activity included Geography subject teachers from senior high schools in Padang City. The activity included training on how to design effective learning media and also provided training on creating interactive learning media on the topic of Lithosphere for high school geography teachers in Padang City. The training, conducted together with the Geography subject teachers, resulted in the creation of three-dimensional learning media and improved the teachers' skills in creating three-dimensional Lithosphere learning media. Through this training, teachers experienced an improvement in their understanding of pedagogical aspects, especially in lesson planning (RPP), particularly in the selection of models and learning media. Geography teachers also gained a better understanding of the competencies required to design and use media effectively, enabling them to create quality, efficient, and interactive learning experiences.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the skills of GNSS usage by students in Geomatics Engineering Department of SMKN 1 Bukittinggi. Training on the use of GNSS will be conducted using the latest GNSS device owned by the school. The students will be taught about the operation and programming of GNSS devices, as well as methods of analyzing the data generated. After the training, the students will be evaluated through tests and field projects. The results show that most students initially have a limited understanding of GNSS and difficulty in using GNSS devices. The improvement of this ability has positive implications for the preparation of students in facing the increasingly complex demands of the job market. The ability to use GNSS is becoming more important in various fields such as construction, mapping, surveying, precision agriculture, and environmental monitoring. Students who have been well trained in the use of GNSS will have a competitive advantage in seeking employment or pursuing further education.
