Abstract

This research aims to analyze efforts to strengthen the resilience of community areas on the north coast of Sumbawa and Satonda island, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province in efforts to mitigate natural disasters. This research is descriptive qualitative research. Data collection was carried out using non-participatory observation methods, in-depth interviews and documentation aimed at people living on the north coast of Sumbawa Island and Satonda island which directly face the Flores Sea. The research results show that the resilience of the northern coastal area of Satonda Island is classified as vulnerable because the local community does not yet understand the potential for earthquakes and tsunamis and disaster mitigation aspects have not been a priority agenda for the local government. People who live on the coast do not receive socialization and knowledge about natural disaster mitigation. Thus, the resilience of the community area to face natural disasters is still relatively weak, so there is a high risk of negative impacts from these natural disasters

Abstract

Effective urban waste management is crucial, encompassing various dimensions such as financial, technical, legal, environmental, spatial planning, socio-cultural aspects, and stakeholder involvement. The household waste management landfill in Regional Payakumbuh is currently overcapacity, and the city lacks an independent waste landfill. This quantitative research utilizes Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) version 3.0 to analyze data, a method within Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The study population consists of 120 households in the Talang Payakumbuh Barat neighborhood, selected using proportional random sampling. Results indicate that the education level of the West Payakumbuh community positively influences waste management. This is supported by a P value of 0.044 (< 0.05), with a t-statistic of 1.786 (lower than 1.96). The original sample value of 0.188 is positive, leading to the acceptance of hypothesis H1. Similarly, the type of occupation significantly and positively influences community participation in waste management in Payakumbuh, supported by a P value of 0.022 (< 0.05) and a t-statistic of 4.351 (> 1.96). The original sample value of 0.463 is positive, confirming the acceptance of hypothesis H2. Additionally, community income has a positive and significant impact on their participation in waste management in Payakumbuh, as evidenced by a P value of 0.031 (< 0.05), a t-statistic of 2.292 (> 1.96), and an original sample value of 0.031. Hence, hypothesis H3 is accepted. Community participation in waste management in Payakumbuh is also influenced by social and cultural factors. The diversity in educational backgrounds and occupations presents unique challenges, contributing to the creation of a clean and comfortable city environment. This research emphasizes the need for integrated waste management strategies and community involvement to address the waste disposal challenges faced by Payakumbuh.

Abstract

Increasing population growth has an impact on the need for land, giving rise to conflicts in its utilization. Land use conflicts lead to the growth of degraded land. The aim of this research is to determine the degraded land index and policy directions for controlling degraded land in the Anai watershed. To determine the degraded land index using a GIS approach with four indicators, namely: percentage of land cover, slope, soil depth, and land management. Next, to determine the direction of degraded land control policies using the AHP approach. The research results show that around 48% of the Anai watershed is degraded land. The results of the analysis of the AHP approach to policy strategies in controlling degraded land show that there are three priority directions, namely: 1) increasing community knowledge about forests; 2) increasing community skills regarding the added value of forest products; and 3) strengthening the institutions of indigenous community groups in forest areas.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to, 1) determine students' learning activities in geography learning by applying the discovery learning model assisted by E-LKPD class E-LKPD class X at SMAN 2 Sungai Rumbai. The research carried out is classroom action research (Class-room Action Research). This classroom action research (PTK) was carried out in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The research was carried out in three cycles. The subjects in this research were class X science students with a total of 14 students. Data collection techniques use observation, learning motivation observation sheets, tests, and documentation. Data were analyzed using percentages and data reduction. The research results show that, 1) students' learning activities by implementing the Discovery Learning model assisted by E-LKPD in each cycle have succeeded in increasing. This can be seen from the increase in the grades of class X Science students at SMAN 2 Sungai Rumbai from cycle to cycle. In cycle I the level of student activity was in the sufficient category, then in cycle II it was in the good category, and increased in cycle III, namely in the very good category, 2) learning by applying the discovery learning model assisted by E-LKPD can improve Learning outcomes of class In cycle I, there were 6 students who completed it or 43%, then it increased in cycle II to 9 people or 64%, and 12 people or 86% reached the completion criteria set in cycle III. This means that there is an increase in each cycle of student learning outcomes in Geography learning by implementing the Discovery Learning learning model assisted by E-LKPD.
