Abstract

Emotional intelligence measurement is a potentially important construct and has become one of the most exciting issues in psychological research. This study aimed to test the construct validity of the emotional intelligence scale developed for sports students. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Participants involved in this study were 280 active sports students. Data were collected through an emotional intelligence scale and analyzed using factor analysis, namely exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) methods on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using AMOS 22 software. The fit index test model was based on three categories: absolute fit indices, incremental fit indices, and parsimony fit indices. It indicates that the scale met the valid and reliable criteria for measuring the emotional intelligence of sports students. There were 27 question items declared valid, meaning that all of these items measured the five components, including 14 indicators constructed according to the Bar-on conceptual model.

Abstract

Athletes have a high need to maintain their performance to stay fit while performing a high training intensity and frequent exercise. It makes athletes have a high need for supplements. However, athletes are prohibited from taking supplements included in the doping category. The lowest risk of doping is herbal-based supplements. This study used a systematic review method. The screening employed the PRISMA method as the preferred reporting item for systematic review and meta-analyses. The articles were obtained from Scopus and Dimensions databases using “cinnamon” as the keyword. Furthermore, the words "cinnamon" and "athlete" were added so that the data were obtained more specific. The exclusion criteria of this study involved original article documents, while the inclusion criteria included not more than 5-year publications. In the article selecting process, there were four articles that fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria stating that cinnamon was effective for preventing inflammation that had an impact on accelerating recovery in athletes. Cinnamomum zylanicum is the most effective type of cinnamon for athlete recovery. It is because Cinnamomum zylanicum contains the most Cinnamaldehyde to help speed up recovery, which is most suitable for athletes. Thus, cinnamon is expected to be an alternative supplement for athletes to improve their performance.

Abstract

A character is a crystallization form of the habituation process carried out by individuals during their life spans. Character building is carried out firstly in the family environment and can be instilled through formal and informal educational institutions. Currently, the government is promoting character education and Pancasila students in schools because it is believed to shape child character effectively. This study aimed to improve elementary school students' gotong royong character, known as the mutual assistance character, through traditional games using Socratic method-based learning. This research is an experimental research using pre-experimental (single group designs). The participants were 37 elementary school students aged 9-11 years. The mutual assistance character was measured using a questionnaire instrument adapted from the Permendikbud and integrated with Krathwohl affective domain indicators. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21 employing paired sample T-test processing. The results show a significant increase from the pretest to post-test results (16.6% on mutual assistance, 18.1% on cooperation, and 15.1% on communication). It implies that traditional games through Socratic Method-based learning can be used as an alternative to developing the mutual assistance character as an effort to promote the profile of Pancasila students in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of life skill program intervention integrated into golf for eight weeks on the social competence of sports science students. The participants were 22 male students in their late adolescent period divided into two sample groups, namely the experimental group (n = 11 people) and the control group (n = 11 people).). The intervention class was held for 60 minutes, three days a week, for eight weeks. The test measurements were carried out during week one and week 8. The life skill sport scale (LSSS) instrument was given before and after the 2-month intervention. The method used was the quasi-experimental method. The results showed a difference in the pre-test life skill scores between the intervention class (147.5 ± 3.03) and the control class (145.9 ± 2.92), where the intervention group gained ???? = -14.0.45, P= .000. Significant differences occurred in the life skill post-test scores (168.9 ± 1.7 with 151.3 ± 2.5, t = -9.712, P = .004). After two months of intervention, the gain scores were obtained (Gain Score 21.4 versus 5.4 and Percent Gain 14.51% versus 3.70, both obtained P-value=0.000). The finding showed a high level of life skills in the pre-test scores of the two groups. However, a significant improvement was found in the post-test results of the intervention. It indicates that golf can improve male student life skills, especially their social competence.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the strategy to improve Pencak Silat's achievement. This research used qualitative descriptive research involving four athletes, two coaches, and one administrator of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The data validity was verified using data triangulation techniques and analyzed using data reduction, presentation, and conclusion techniques. The study's results revealed that the strategy for fostering Pencak Silat's achievement was through the formulation of a coaching program involving team formation, training programs, and funding arrangements. The achievement coaching system included three stages: massing, breeding, and achievement. Supporting factors for the coaching program included the athlete's good ability and motivation, experienced field coaches, needed facilities and infrastructure, management in carrying out duties, and sufficient funding for coaching activities. The inhibiting factors for coaching included poor scheduling of some athletes and the inability of the coach to control athletes who could not participate in combined training. This study concluded that the strategy of the Pencak Silat team in improving athlete performance was good. Based on the research results, this study suggests that the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association administrators monitor athletes and coaches directly during training. Furthermore, the coaches should monitor each athlete's physical, technical, and tactical development. Thus, athletes could improve discipline in training.

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal physical literacy perception differences among early childhood teachers at the kindergarten level of education. The survey research was conducted on 98 kindergarten teachers in West Java who were willing to be involved in this research selected through convenience sampling by filling out an online instrument. Perceived Physical Literacy Scale for Physical Education Teachers (PPLI) was used as the instrument to collect data. The research data were calculated using SPSS 20 employing the ANOVA test. The study's results revealed that physical literacy perception differences were apparent in early childhood education teachers in urban and rural areas, especially in different age and teaching experience groups. The relatively young teachers had diverse perceptions of physical literacy. In contrast, early childhood education teachers in rural schools had the same perception of physical literacy due to the lack of information about the novelty of physical literacy. The findings revealed that the physical literacy perception among early childhood education teachers in urban and rural areas had not been evenly distributed. Therefore, promoting the importance of physical literacy integrated into the learning process, especially in early childhood education, needs to be well socialized through government policies in urban and rural areas.
