Abstract

This study uses a literary study method using a type of qualitative research which aims to describe a suitable learning model to improve students' argumentation skills, namely the Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) model because it requires students to learn independently to understand material concepts and practice directly. In the ADI model there is a syntax that the teacher can apply to students during science learning so that students are able to convey their arguments correctly and correctly based on existing material concepts. Because to face the challenges of 21st century education, skills such as thinking skills, analytical skills, and creativity skills are needed. Of the 56 articles found with similar topics, 13 were selected to obtain 13 articles which were analyzed to obtain the result that the existence of the Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) model was able to improve students' argumentation abilities in the sense of students' ability to think critically in facing a problem or solving a problem, increasing students' understanding skills to the concept of science material presented by the teacher, and improve students' ability to practice directly in the environment so that they better understand events around them so as to be able to provide solutions in an argumentative manner related to theoretical science.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to comprehend and describe the application of project-based learning integrated STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), or PjBL-STEM, to the study of fluid dynamics in order to improve critical thinking skills. Utilizing qualitative data collection methods, such as literature studies, is the research methodology used in this project. Theoretical sources that are relevant to the issues identified are searched for to collect data for this study. The data obtained is subsequently examined using descriptive analysis techniques. According to the data analysis, the N-gain score revealed an improvement in students' critical thinking skills. These conclusions are also supported by other pertinent investigations. According to a review of the research, using PjBL-STEM to study fluid dynamics may enhance critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This paper reports research that aims to determine the feasibility of a learning video made by Koh Ben on the 'BIG Course' YouTube channel. Video learning is one of the most frequently used learning media and only videos that are appropriate can provide maximum benefits in learning physics. This study used a content analysis design with 4 analyzes carried out, namely content analysis, presentation analysis, graphic analysis, and language analysis. The learning videos analyzed were taken directly from the YouTube channel totaling 20 videos containing material for class X physics in the 2013 curriculum. From the results and discussion, it was concluded that the 20 videos for teaching physics for class X were very feasible with a percentage of 89.25% on the content aspect, 86% on the aspect delivery, 91.5% in the graphic aspect, and 99.75% in the language aspect

Abstract

Scientific literacy must be mastered by students because it relates to the environment. This study aims to determine the increase in students' scientific literacy abilities using videoscribe animation-based e-modules. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative conducted at SMPN 5 Depok, Yogyakarta. The tsubjects in this study were 32 class VII B students who were selected using cluster random sampling. The instrument used in this study was a test in the form of multiple-choice questions with data collection techniques in the form of pretest and posttest questions. Based on the differences in the pretest and posttest results obtained and the average N-gain obtained 0,62, it is in the medium category which indicates that the videoscribe animation-based science e-module used can improve students' scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

This research aims to develop practical guidelines for the Van de Graaff Generator on Static Electricity for Students that are valid and practical. This research uses research and development research methods with the Rowntree development model. The Rowntree development model is product-focused, consisting of three stages: planning, development, and evaluation. At the evaluation stage using, Tessmer's formative evaluation, namely self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one evaluation, and small group evaluation. This research collected data in two ways: walkthrough and student response questionnaires. The results of the two methods are then analyzed by finding the average percentage value and converted according to the predetermined category. Based on the results of the expert review, it was found that the average overall aspect was 90.80% which was categorized as very valid. At the one-to-one evaluation stage, an assessment of student responsiveness was obtained of 81.67%, categorized as practical. Furthermore, in the small group evaluation stage, the results of student responses were obtained by 87% in the very practical category. Thus, based on the results of the research, the Van de Graaff Generator (GVG) practicum guide on Static Electricity for Physics Education Students is very valid and practical.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are rarely measured in science learning. This study aims to analyze students' critical thinking skills through learning science e-modules based on Google sites. This type of research includes quantitative descriptive research. The subjects of this study were class VII students of SMP Negeri 6 Yogyakarta, totaling 61 students. The data collection technique used essay questions on critical thinking skills which totaled 7 items. The results showed that the identifying indicators had an achievement of 66.39% in the medium category, interpreting indicators had an achievement of 61.75% in the low category, indicators analyzing had an achievement of 69.26% in the medium category, indicators expressing opinions or arguments had an achievement of 69.26% 73.36% in the high category, the evaluating indicator has an achievement of 58.61% in the low category, and the indicator concludes that it has an achievement of 63.93% in the medium category. Thus the average students' critical thinking skills as a whole are in the medium category with an achievement percentage of 64.43%.

Abstract

Alternative conceptions or misconceptions is believed as the main barrier for most students who learn chemistry. Students who hold alternative conceptions will struggle to understand the advanced concepts. Therefore, identifying those alternative conceptions is important. In this study a diagnostic test was designed and developed to identify students’ alternative conceptions about intermolecular forces (IMFs). The diagnostic test developed in this study consist of 19 multiple choice questions with open reason. The test was administered to 88 university students who learn chemistry. Data collected were analyzed using SPSS. The validity and the reliability of the test were 0.526 and 0.878 respectively. The result indicates that the test is valid and reliable. The mean difficulty value and discriminatory index are 0.623 and 0.45 respectively. The findings of the item analysis showed that the test is in moderate difficulty and the discriminatory of the test is in good category. Meanwhile, the average distractor effectivity for the diagnostic test is 3 options (out of 4 options), which means the distractors are in good category and well function. Those findings indicate that the two-tier diagnostics test could be used to identify students’ alternative conceptions and understanding about IMFs.

Abstract

Science learning that is oriented towards entrepreneurship has not been able to produce students who have an entrepreneurial attitude. This study aims to identify the effect of local potential-based science learning in Reyog Ponorogo, the Dhadak Merak dance on the entrepreneurial attitude perspective of junior high school students. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with a one-group pretest-posttest design at SMP Negeri 3 Depok Sleman. The sample used was 20 students who were selected using the cluster random sampling technique. Entrepreneurial attitude perspective data collection was carried out using an entrepreneurial attitude questionnaire. Data analysis used paired sample t-test. Based on the results of the study, the paired sample t-test sig (2-tailed) was 0.000, so there are differences in pretest and posttest. It can be concluded that science learning based on local potential in Reyog Ponorogo has an effect on the entrepreneurial perspective of junior high school students.
