Abstract

Pancreatic beta cells may suffer harm as a result of hyperglycemia. This study examined the effect of Senggani fruit vinegar on blood sugar levels in hyperglycemic white rats. Conditions associated with hyperglycemia may result in an abundance of free radicals, a lack of antioxidants, and damage to pancreatic beta cells. One category of reactive oxygen species (ROS) are the free radicals produced by hyperglycemia. Because the senggani fruit's flavonoids have strong antioxidant properties, they can reduce blood sugar levels. Using a completely randomized design, which was divided into 6 treatments and 4 repeats, this research was applied to the experimental approach. The Variant Analysis algorithm was used to analyze the study's data (ANOVA). Blood glucose levels were among the variables measured. gathered information that explains how giving rats vinegar made from the senggani fruit lowers their blood sugar levels. It is evident that the administration of senggani fruit vinegar (Melastoma affine D. Don) has a positive impact on lowering blood glucose levels in hyperglycemia in white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.).

Abstract

Congenital hypothyroidism is one of the causes of mental retardation in children that can be prevented if recognized and treated early. Thyroid hormones play a role in the development of the central nervous system. It is known that 95% of CH do not show typical clinical signs and symptoms at birth and the duration of early intervention to prevent mental retardation is short. Therefore, most developed countries have conducted neonatal screening programs for early detection of CH. The purpose of this study was to determine the diagnosis and management of congenital hypoteroid based on medical record analysis. This research method is a cross-sectional descriptive study with a quantitative approach to patient medical records. Data were analyzed in accordance with the standard diagnosis and management of congenital hypoteroid issued by the Pediatric Association in 2017. The clinical practice guidelines explain that congenital hypothyroidism can be transient or permanent and is classified according to the location of the disorder: primary (in the thyroid gland) or secondary (in the pituitary and/or hypothalamus); severity of hypothyroidism: (serum TSH levels > 100 mIU/L are considered severe; and age of onset of hypothyroidism. The most common form is permanent primary CH (high serum TSH levels) due to thyroid dysgenesis. Permanent CH requires lifelong treatment while transient CH does not. The results of the study have met clinical guidelines, namely CH screening in newborns is positive if the TSH level is ≥ 20 mU/L. Infants with positive screening results must be confirmed by re-checking serum TSH and FT4. The diagnosis of CH is made when TSH levels are high and FT4 is low. In non-screened infants, the diagnosis is made through clinical symptoms and serum TSH and FT4 examination.

Abstract

One effort to overcome the waste problem is by recycling waste into something useful, such as by making eco enzymes that can be used in various fields through fermentation process. The duration of eco enzyme fermentation is determined by the purpose of its production, but most studies require a fermentation duration of 3 months to produce ideal eco enzyme. The raw material used in making eco enzyme in this study is the peel of the Kintamani orange (Citrus nobilis) that widely cultivated in Bali. This study was aimed to examine the differences in the characteristics of eco enzyme based on orange peel waste with different fermentation durations.  The research method used is experimental. Fermentation was carried out on orange peel waste, brown sugar, and water with a ratio of 3:1:10. Fermentation was carried out at a duration of 10 days, 30 days, 60 days, 90 days. Each eco enzyme with a different fermentation duration was chemically analyzed for PH, TSS, TDS, BOD, COD. The results showed that as the fermentation duration lengthened, there was a decrease in the TSS, TDS, BOD, and COD parameters in orange peel-based eco enzyme, but there was no change in PH. Teen days of fermentation was able to produce eco enzymes with an ideal PH, fresh sour aroma, and high organic content, however, the fermentation did not produce a dark brown color. This research helps in providing reference for the best fermentation duration that need to make eco enzyme.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the need to develop an e-Worksheet based on the SSCS model to stimulate critical thinking skills. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to provide an overview of the implementation of critical thinking skills in high school during learning that implements the independent curriculum. This research was conducted in March 2023. The data source was obtained using the non-test technique in the form of an open questionnaire. The subjects in this study were 15 physics teachers spread across 3 provinces in Indonesia, including Lampung, Central Java and South Sumatra. The data analysis technique is the Miles & Huberman (2018) analysis technique which is carried out continuously until the data is saturated. Data analysis involves three steps, data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results of the study show that critical thinking skills have not been fully implemented in physics learning in senior high schools in the independent curriculum. Therefore, the development of an e-Worksheet based on the SSCS model is needed to stimulate students' critical thinking skills.
