Abstract

Maize productivity in Palolo District only reaches 4.8 tons/ha, far below the national average.  Suboptimal cultivation techniques, limited access to superior seeds, and the use of fertilizers and pesticides that are not in accordance with the recommendations. Farmers' limited knowledge of modern agricultural practices and lack of access to technology and training also affect production yields. A synergistic agribusiness system ensures integration between the upstream and downstream sectors. The purpose of this study is to analyze the success of the maize agribusiness system and formulate a strategy for the development of the maize agribusiness system. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The analysis method uses agribusiness index, SWOT analysis and AHP. As a result of the calculation of the agribusiness system index, the value obtained is 11.4 from the maximum value of 17.4 or 65.5%.  It shows that the maize agribusiness system is running well, in a good value interval (8.71-17.40). As a result of the SWOT and AHP analysis, there are four main strategies for the development of maize agribusiness: Improving farmers' skills through training and mentoring the latest agricultural technology (weight 0.225), optimizing land use and maximizing production (weight 0.219), increasing maize productivity with active extension and technological innovation (weight 0.137), increasing productivity and availability of facilities through the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices and environmentally friendly technology (weight 0.106).

Abstract

The agricultural sector, which includes forestry, fisheries, animal husbandry, hunting, and farming services, is the main contributor to forming Boven Digoel Regency's GRDP. The largest commodity contributing to GRDP comes from the plantation crop subsector, not the horticulture subsector, such as durian, even though the subsector has considerable production potential. This is due to suboptimal post-harvest management and limited knowledge of durian cultivation technology among local farmers. Most farmers still use less efficient traditional methods, so the yield could be more optimal. This study aims to analyze internal and external factors and formulate local economic development strategies based on durian agribusiness. The data used included primary and secondary data, and the analysis was conducted using descriptive methods, IFE, EFE, IE Matrix, SWOT Analysis, and QSPM. The results showed that the durian agribusiness economy in Boven Digoel Regency based on the IE matrix is in quadrant I (growth and investment) with internal factors 3.13 and external factors 3.08. SWOT analysis resulted in three main strategies: market expansion, diversification of durian processed products, and restructuring the production system. Diversification of processed products, such as dodol and ice cream, proved to be the most effective strategy based on QSPM analysis, with a score of 6.32.

Abstract

Mangrove forests in Teluk Lembar, West Lombok, have an important role in ecological balance and socio-economic benefits. However, these ecosystems face pressure from land conversion for ponds, illegal logging, and pollution. This study aims to describe the condition of mangroves, analyze the socio-economic aspects of the community and the role of stakeholders, assess the value of direct benefits of mangroves, and formulate sustainable management strategies. The results showed significant biodiversity, with 14 species of mangroves and 53 species of fauna, including 44 species of birds. The bird ecological index showed diversity (H') 32, uniformity (E) 0.8, and dominance (D) 0.7, which signified ecosystem stability. However, a serious threat comes from the conversion of land for ponds, houses, factories, and ports. Of the 1703.19 ha of the total area area, only 179.44 ha (10.54%) of mangrove forests remain. Waste pollution, such as mercury and copper levels that exceed the limit, also negatively impacts the ecosystem. Based on the SWOT analysis, the proposed mangrove management strategy includes: (a) strengthening community capacity in mangrove management through training and education, (b) increasing collaboration between stakeholders to strengthen regulation and law enforcement, (c) optimizing economic benefits through the development of mangrove-based ecotourism, and (d) implementing sustainable management practices to maintain a balance between conservation and utilization

Abstract

Children who are shorter than their peers due to malnutrition before and after birth are called stunting. Stunting occurs when a married adolescent woman has a low socioeconomic status and education level, thus increasing psychological stress caused by limited human resources and childcare so that child growth and development are not optimal. One important factor that influences the prevalence of stunting in early childhood and toddlers is maternal education. Increasing public awareness of the importance of maternal education in preventing stunting and improving the quality of child health. This review study aims to present evidence on the correlation between stunting and maternal education and to determine the extent to which maternal education affects the nutritional status and growth of children, especially stunting. With these objectives, this study is expected to make a significant contribution to understanding and addressing stunting problems in the community. The literature review method and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) meta-analysis process were used throughout the investigation. There is a correlation between stunting and maternal education based on many research findings. In conclusion, education level, low maternal age, poor toddler care and nutritional intake during pregnancy are associated with stunting

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of the Process-Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) model on students' problem-solving skills in the topic of the first law of thermodynamics. The research was motivated by pre-study findings showing students' struggles in identifying problems and applying solutions, partly due to limited stimulation in developing critical thinking and inquiry skills. A quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design was used. The population included 168 Class XI Science students at SMA Negeri 4 Tasikmalaya, with purposive sampling selecting two classes as experimental and control groups. Data were collected using pretests and posttests comprising eight essay questions assessing four stages of problem-solving: identifying problems, planning solutions, implementing solutions, and evaluating results. Hypothesis testing (ttest) at a 95% confidence level showed tcount > ttable (9.78 > 1.67), confirming a significant positive effect of the POGIL model. The findings indicate that the POGIL model effectively enhances students' problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying problems, formulating hypotheses, and analyzing solutions. However, its implementation requires adequate preparation and teacher understanding of its stages. These results suggest that POGIL is a promising approach to fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills in physics education.
