Abstract

Butterflies of the superfamily Papilionoidae, or true butterflies, play a crucial role as indicators of ecosystem health and pollinators, and in the Papuan biogeographic region. The diversity of butterflies depends on habitat quality. A high ecosystem composition will support high butterfly diversity. Data on butterfly diversity is not yet available from the Fef forest in Tambrauw, making this research crucial. The composition of butterflies will also determine the condition of the forest, as they are used as bioindicators of forest quality. The forests in the Fef District are classified as secondary and primary forests. The research was conducted over six days of observation, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The study used a scan sampling method along predetermined transects. Butterflies and dragonflies were captured using insect nets, then photographed and identified. This study aims to understand the diversity and species richness in the region and determine the composition of forest richness in Fef. The research in the Ibu forest in the Fef District identified 96 butterfly species (1.87 individuals). The butterflies found were spread across six transects observed over six days. Transects were established in secondary and primary forest habitats. The Shannon-Wiener index for butterfly diversity was high (H’=3.98).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the presence of rhinoceros hornbills and their potential food trees in the Pondok Buluh Training Forest (KHDTK). Data collection on the presence of hornbill species was carried out using a concentrated point method determined by field observations. Observations were conducted at six observation locations along the rhinoceros hornbill's daily movement path. Observations were conducted at time intervals between 07.00-09.00 WIB (morning), 11.00-13.00 WIB (afternoon) and 15.00-17.00 WIB (evening), where these times are when rhinoceros hornbills are actively foraging and resting, so the opportunity for observation is greater. The data collected were encounter time, number of individuals, type of encounter (visual/audio) and encounter location. Data collection for potential food trees was carried out using the Species Area Curve Method with vegetation analysis. The parameters measured were species name (local and scientific), number of individuals, tree diameter at breast height and tree height. The vegetation analysis method used was the Species Area Curve Method. Based on the observation results, encounters with Rhinoceros Hornbills occurred at six observation points, namely at observation point 1 (coordinates N 02°46’45.3” and E 098°59’55.3”), observation point 2 (coordinates N 02°46’40.1” and E 099°00’02.3”), observation point 3 (coordinates N 02°46’80.2” and E 098°59’93.6”), observation point 4 (coordinates N 02°46’07.7” and E 098°59’06.6”), observation point 5 (coordinates N 02°46’24.768” and E 098°58’00.426”) and observation point 6 (coordinates N 02°46’24.456” and E 098°58’13.368”). The potential for food trees in the Pondok Buluh Training Forest KHDTK has a “good” regeneration rate so that it can support the survival of the rhinoceros hornbill.

Abstract

Es Selendang Mayang is a traditional drink from Betawi (Jakarta), Indonesia, popular for its sweet, savory flavor and colorful appearance (usually red, white, and green) resembling a scarf. The drink consists of three main components: a chewy cake called "selendang mayang," a savory coconut milk sauce, and a sweet brown sugar syrup, served with ice cubes for a refreshing treat. Globalization is changing the consumption patterns of traditional products that face the pressure of modern food. Es Selendang Mayang as a traditional Indonesian product has the potential to be developed. This research aims to analyze the chemical composition and physics of materials as well as ice-making techniques to produce quality products. The formulation of the problem includes the identification of materials and the influence of production techniques on the quality of the ice. Theoretical studies focus on materials science and traditional culinary production techniques. The methodology uses a qualitative approach with observational data collection, interviews, and laboratory tests. Data analysis was carried out in a systematic descriptive manner by comparing variations of materials and techniques. The results showed that the combination of rice flour and hunkwe produced the best texture and natural dyes supporting the aesthetics of the product. The implementation of research results can improve the quality and competitiveness of products and preserve local culinary culture.

Abstract

Sumatran peatlands constitute a highly vulnerable ecosystem strongly Sumatran peatlands are a vulnerable ecosystem highly sensitive to daily rainfall variability driven by large-scale climate modes such as El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). This study analyzes the frequency distribution and intensity of daily rainfall over Sumatran peatlands from 1995 to 2023 in relation to ENSO and IOD phases. Daily rainfall data from nine BMKG stations were analyzed using Probability Density Function (PDF), supported by monthly climatology and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) spectral analysis. Results show a right-skewed rainfall distribution, with peak frequency below 20 mm/day. During El Niño and positive IOD events, the PDF shifts leftward, indicating increased dry days; during La Niña, the right tail extends, increasing extreme rainfall probability. FFT reveals dominant annual cycles and sub-seasonal signals linked to the Madden-Julian Oscillation. Spatial patterns are consistent, though inland stations show stronger responses than coastal ones. Despite the lack of seasonal stratification and formal significance testing in this preliminary analysis, findings highlight how ENSO and IOD alter rainfall risk—drought during warm phases and flooding during cold phases. These insights support the development of early warning systems and climate-informed peatland management policies

Abstract

This study was designed to create an inquiry-based e-module that integrates local wisdom for learning the topic of Anaerobic Respiration. The aim was to ensure that this e-module is valid, practical, and effective in improving students' scientific process skills (SPS) and their ability to collaborate, especially for students in Phase F at SMA Negeri 2 Plus Panyabungan. The background of this study is based on the low level of scientific process skills, especially in connecting concepts (11%) and analyzing (24%), as well as weak collaboration skills (53.33% included in the low category). This study followed the research and development (R&D) method using the Plomp model, which consists of three phases: initial investigation, prototype development, and evaluation. The results showed that the developed e-module was highly valid, with an average score of 95.37%, very practical as indicated by student responses (93.01%) and teacher responses (97.92%), and effective in improving scientific process skills, evidenced by significant results (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05), and in improving student collaboration, which increased from the sufficient category to the very high category. Therefore, it can be concluded that this inquiry-based e-module that integrates local wisdom is suitable for use as an innovative learning resource to improve scientific process skills and collaboration among students studying Anaerobic Respiration.

Abstract

Soil organic matter is essential for maintaining soil fertility and supporting sustainable agricultural production. However, raw organic matter does not directly enhance soil chemical properties without a sufficient decomposition period. This study evaluated the effects of organic matter incubation and biofertilizer concentrations on soil chemical characteristics. The experiment was conducted from June to August 2024 in the Greenhouse Laboratory of Gunadarma Technopark University, Jamali Village, West Java, using a completely randomized factorial design. Treatments consisted of four biofertilizer concentrations (0, 10, 15, and 20 mL/L) and five incubation periods of cow manure (0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks), each replicated four times, resulting in 80 experimental units. The results showed a significant interaction between incubation duration and biofertilizer concentration on soil pH, organic carbon, total nitrogen, C/N ratio, available phosphorus (P₂O₅), and available potassium (K₂O). The four-week incubation combined with 10–20 mL/L of biofertilizer produced the most notable improvements, increasing pH to neutral levels, raising organic carbon and nitrogen contents, achieving an optimal C/N ratio, and enhancing P availability, although K remained low. These findings indicate that combining biofertilizer application with an adequate incubation period effectively improves soil fertility and offers a viable strategy for long-term soil management and agricultural productivity.

Abstract

This research is based on the fact that recently there have been frequent changes in weather compared to previous years, according to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Simalungun Regency, it does not show major climate changes but has changed the perception of coffee farmers towards climate change in Pamatang Sidamanik District. This research was located in 3 villages in Pamatang Sidamanik District, namely Pamatang Sidamanik, Bandar Manik, and Sait buttu Saribu. The research method used was qualitative and quantitative, with data collection through questionnaires, interviews, and observations of 60 farmers selected purposively. Research data was measured using a Likert scale and analyzed using the Spearman correlation test and multiple linear regression. The results of this study are based on the frequency of farmers' perceptions, some farmers perceive changes in climate components as the same as before, although some farmers stated that there have been changes. When associated with climate components, it turns out that the perception of coffee farmers is that rainfall has increased, rainy days have increased, and minimum temperatures have increased. While maximum temperatures, air humidity, and sunlight intensity are moderate or the same as before. Mitigation measures as an effort to adapt to climate change by planting shade trees. Changes in all climate components are perceived to have a negative impact on coffee plants, for changes in air temperature, rainfall and rainy days are minimized through mitigation actions by farmers, while other climate components are not significant or real. The results of multiple linear regression analysis show that simultaneously the ratio of coffee plants to shade, fertilizer costs, labor costs and land area affect coffee farming income but partially only labor costs affect coffee farming income.

Abstract

SDN Tambakrejo 01 Semarang, under the leadership of the Principal, is known to have faced serious challenges, such as the impact of flooding that damaged facilities and physical book collections. This innovation not only overcomes logistical challenges but also changes the literacy culture in the school. This study uses a qualitative case study design that aims to describe and interpret the role of the principal as an innovator in developing a digital library program at SDN Tambakrejo 01 Semarang. Starting from this reality, this study aims to explore the role of the principal as an innovator in the development and implementation of school digitalization through a digital library program at SDN Tambakrejo 01 Semarang. The results of this study The Principal of SDN Tambakrejo 01 initiated the Digital Library program after reflecting on two main problems: book damage due to flooding and low student literacy scores (around 50). An innovative solution resulting from joint reflection by teachers and parents was the creation of the Digital Reading Corner (Subadi) application and the One Student One Book (SASI SABU) program, where students create and upload their own digital books. This program is implemented routinely using available resources (Chromebooks) and supported by close collaboration from all parties, successfully increasing student literacy scores from 50 to 87 in one year, and its sustainability is maintained through regular evaluations and annual competitions.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an Android-based Smart Point application as an innovation in the aerobic gymnastics scoring system, specifically for PPLP aerobic gymnastics. The background of this research is the judging process that is still done manually using assessment paper, so it is prone to errors and is inefficient and makes it easier to conduct control tests on PPLP athletes before the competition. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Borg and Gall model consisting of ten stages of development, from analysis to product implementation. The research subjects involved aerobic gymnastics judges, media experts, and material experts. The research instrument used a validation questionnaire and a Likert-based trial. The results showed that the assessment application called Smart Point has a high level of feasibility with validation from material experts 95.50%, media experts 93%, and language experts 94.25%. User trials showed that this application is practical, efficient, and able to speed up the score recapitulation process by up to 50%. The Smart Point application is considered effective in increasing the objectivity and efficiency of assessment in aerobic gymnastics competitions.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and examine the effectiveness of an interactive experiment-based instructional video on the topic of the Earth’s rotation and revolution to enhance elementary students’ problem-solving skills. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the Four-D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), implemented at SD Negeri Rantau Pangeran, South Sumatra. The research subjects consisted of 30 sixth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, expert validation, and pretest–posttest assessments, then analyzed using the Likert scale and N-gain calculation. The validation results showed an excellent level of feasibility across all aspects: material (91.20%), language (95.20%), and media (91.53%). The practicality test obtained an average score of 98% (individual test) and 94% (small group test), indicating that the media was easy to use and understand. The effectiveness test showed a significant improvement in students’ problem-solving abilities, with the average pretest score increasing from 38.16 to 88.33 on the posttest and an N-gain score of 0.81 (high category). Improvements occurred across all problem-solving indicators, including understanding the problem, planning strategies, executing the plan, and evaluating the results. These findings confirm that the interactive experiment-based instructional video is valid, practical, and effective in stimulating students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills, making it relevant to the 21st-century competency demands.
