Abstract

This study aims to map and analyze research trends on Eco-design and Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) in environmental learning through bibliometric analysis. Data were collected from the Scopus database covering publications from 2013 to 2024 related to Eco-design, SSI, environmental education, eco-literacy, and critical thinking. Bibliometric data were analyzed using VOSviewer software to visualize research networks including co-authorship, co-occurrence (keywords), citations, co-citations, and overlay analysis. The findings revealed four main research clusters linking environmental education, SSI, Eco-design, eco-literacy, and critical thinking. The results also show that research has evolved from descriptive studies to a more integrative and application-oriented approach that combines design innovation with socio-scientific reflection. The overlay visualization shows a temporal shift from early themes such as environmental awareness to a more recent emphasis on sustainability, critical thinking, and ecological literacy. These results highlight that the integration of Eco-design with SSI promotes a transformative paradigm in environmental education by connecting ethical and scientific perspectives with real-world solutions. This study provides a conceptual foundation for developing an interdisciplinary learning model that strengthens students' ecological literacy and critical thinking skills in sustainability-oriented education.

Abstract

The challenge in science education is to connect biotechnology concepts with real-world contexts and local potential. This study aims to explore and identify local entomopathogenic microbes as innovative learning resources on the topic of agricultural biotechnology, specifically biological control of onion pests.  This exploratory study includes field surveys in the onion centre of Guntarano Village and laboratory analysis. Isolation of entomopathogenic fungi from infected Liriomyza spp. larvae was carried out using the insect bait method. The isolates obtained were purified, identified based on morphological characteristics (macroscopic and microscopic), and their spore density was calculated. The exploration successfully screened six potential fungal isolates. Morphological identification revealed the presence of Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Trichoderma sp., and one isolate suspected to be Metarhizium sp. All isolates had high spore densities (> 10⁷ conidia/mL), with the Metarhizium sp. (Larva 4) and A. niger (Larva 2) isolates showing the highest densities. The diversity of entomopathogenic microbes found has the potential to be a source of biopesticide learning in science education. This material can be utilised to develop modules, worksheets, or learning media based on local potential to enhance science literacy and students' understanding of agricultural biotechnology

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of group counseling services using the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) approach in reducing students' anxiety facing college entrance exams. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects were 14 students of grade XII of SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang who had moderate to high levels of anxiety based on the initial measurement results. Data were collected using the College Entrance Exam Anxiety Scale developed to cover three main dimensions: emotional, cognitive, and physiological anxiety. This scale consists of 37 valid statements with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability value of 0.93, indicating a very high level of reliability. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov 2 Independent Samples Test with the help of SPSS version 26.0. The results showed a Z value = -2.36 and p = 0.01 (p < 0.05) in the experimental group, which means there was a significant difference between the anxiety levels before and after treatment. Meanwhile, there were no significant differences in the control group. These results demonstrate that group counseling services using the REBT approach are effective in reducing student anxiety, particularly in the emotional, cognitive, and physiological aspects. This approach helps students think more rationally, manage their emotions, and reduce physical symptoms of anxiety leading up to college entrance exams.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common major health problems in the elderly population and is a major cause of global morbidity and mortality. Factors such as aging, unhealthy lifestyles, low medication adherence, and the presence of comorbidities contribute significantly to the increase in hypertension in the elderly. This study aims to analyze factors associated with hypertension in the elderly, including demographic, lifestyle, and medical factors, through a systematic review (SR) approach. The study was conducted by searching scientific literature from various reputable databases published between 2019 and 2025, using inclusion criteria that included the elderly population, blood pressure measurements, and the identification of relevant risk factors. The synthesis results indicate that demographic factors such as advanced age and female gender, lifestyle factors such as high salt consumption, low physical activity, and smoking habits, and medical factors such as family history of hypertension, medication adherence, and the presence of comorbidities (especially diabetes and heart disease) are the main determinants of the degree of hypertension in the elderly. Non-adherence to medication contributes to the severity of hypertension, wheres adherence contributes to the control of hypertension.
