Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of the differentiated approach on high school students' conceptual understanding of the work and energy topic. The research method used is a quantitative method. Two classes of 10th graders in one of the Senior High Schools in the Tangerang districts were chosen to be research participants with cluster random sampling. Data collection was done with learning style questionnaire and conceptual understanding item with a reliability 0.73. The experimental class applied Inquiry-based Learning with differentiation, while the control class applied Inquiry-based Learning without differentiation. The results of the different tests of students' conceptual understanding after learning showed a significant difference in the understanding of students' concepts in the two classes. The effect size score showed a large effect of a differentiated approach on students' conceptual understanding. The analysis of the level of students' conceptual understanding for each subtopic showed the Law of Conservation of Mechanical Energy having the most students at irresponsiveness level, while the subtopics with the highest number of students at the understanding level was the work subtopic. The percentage of students who studied with a differentiated approach at the highest understanding level is more than students without a differentiated approach in all subtopics. Although the application of the differentiated approach had obstacles in online learning, the differentiated approach applied in Inquiry based Learning has a positive impact in facilitating the diversity of student learning styles.

Abstract

In the globalization era, education requires schools to create students who can think critically in terms of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) and carry out their activities independently. For instance, the rapid development of technology has changed how people communicate, interact, eat, and perform other things. This causes education to become important in preparing students to be independent. Therefore, teachers need to follow the latest developments regarding strategies, approaches, or methods in the learning process. Agyei, D. D., & Voogt, J. (2012). Education is an effort used in helping students to develop their potential, abilities, and talents. This study aims to examine the effect of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) on the creativity of children aged 5-6 years at Lenterahati Islamic boarding school. In this study, the STEAM method is the independent (X) and creativity is the dependent variable (Y). This instrument preparation is known as the Torrance test of creative thinking consisting of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration skills. A total of 25 children in the preschool were selected as the participants using a pretest and posttest. The results showed there is a difference in students' creativity before and after receiving STEAM treatment. This method uses loose parts which help to increase children's creative thinking. High creativity is characterized by fluent, flexible, original, and detailed skills. Therefore, the use of STEAM in learning can increase children's creativity and provide them the ability to solve problems as well as connect with the environment.

Abstract

In this study investigated Gardner's intelligence in physics students. The sample surveyed was 360 physics students, namely physics education study programs, physics and elementary school teacher education at several universities in Maluku. The instrument used is Gardner's 1999 intelligence with 24 questions out of 9 intelligences. The results obtained indicate that the intelligences that are superior to ethnic physics students in Maluku are Mathematical Logic, Music, Interpersonal and Naturalistic. While verbal, kinesthetic, intrapersonal, and spatial intelligence is still weak. Therefore, it is necessary to apply models, strategies, and approaches and techniques that are appropriate in increasing student intelligence. To increase Gardner science student intelligence, at least pay attention to Gardner intelligence (GI) theory in the science curriculum. These findings may help to provide some practical implications for the development of effective problem-solving, creativity, critical and communicative skills in teaching physics

Abstract

This study discusses students' difficulties in learning science related to writing simple scientific papers. So far, teachers in the classroom have focused more on providing knowledge without involving a good understanding of concepts related to writing scientific papers. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to analyze the causes of students' difficulties in writing scientific papers. This research is a servei study in the form of 24 questions in the form of questionnaires for 148 people consisting of 57 male students and 91 female students in the Science class at SMA Negeri 14 Central Maluku. The findings prove that the dominance of language in research has become an obstacle in publication. This has made writing scientific papers difficult. Another aspect is the interference of different cultural views, linking the text with the views of the scientific community, arguments, grammar rules, and so on. All of this must be supported by a good understanding of scientific concepts by utilizing the original surrounding environment as a strength value that is different from other regions. This study then proposes suggestions for further research when students write for publication in a way to make claims to their knowledge. Future research is to focus on deeper investigation of ways to make knowledge claims and how students deal with that aspect so that the publication of scientific papers can be achieved.

Abstract

Globalization has a negative impact on local wisdom and the character of the successor of the Indonesian nation. It causes the culture of other countries to influence local wisdom so that it experiences a shift and slowly disappears. It triggers youth violence and erodes morals, character, sense of humanity, and nationalism. Students who are dominated by the Sasak tribe are currently less familiar with their traditions and culture. The solution to this problem is to integrate local wisdom into formal chemistry learning. This study aims to identify local wisdom of the Sasak tribe that can be integrated in chemistry learning. The approach used in this research is qualitative. The research sample is cultural practitioners and the Sasak people. Sampling using purposive technique. The implementation of this research consists of four stages based on data analysis of the Miles and Huberman Model, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data collection technique is triangulation, which combines interviews, observations, and documents. The results of this study are local wisdom of the Sasak tribe that can be integrated in chemistry learning. The local wisdom includes mopping with cow dung, dilah jojor, nyesek, and gendang beleq. The results of the analysis of local wisdom show that there is relevance to chemistry, namely the concepts of organic compounds, inorganic compounds, chemical bonds, elemental chemistry, instrument analysis, chemical separation, and chemistry of natural materials. Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analyze students' scientific creativity in each domain with an essay test referring to the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking. This research was conducted on 50 teachers and 500 students in 10 elementary schools in Cluster 2, Nusaniwe District, Ambon City. The results of this study report descriptive demographic results of respondents and the level of creativity, namely fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration among students is very good. The results of the study as a whole show that most of the students are at a good level after being taught with the PjBL model. Students increase their creativity with the teacher's instructions and directions. Initially in detail, many students lack the dimensions of fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration so they cannot provide more ideas, and cannot provide answers. So that the originality becomes less and they have no ideas to elaborate further than the answers given. However, based on the findings from several student meetings, there has been a significant increase. This is because it applies a problem-oriented learning model that enhances each realm of creativity in science subjects. In addition, the researcher also recommends conducting more in-depth research on creative thinking processes among students based on the local advantages of each school based on geographical location which has its own unique value. Therefore, teachers are expected to be able to better understand cognitively, affectively and psychomotor in students' minds and possibly improve students' creative thinking skills on each dimension of creativity
