Abstract

The proposal aims to bring an accessible, time efficient, and secure design of Tugu Train Station in Yogyakarta City. Yogyakarta happens to be located strategically on the main routes of Java. It is one of the reasons why the city becomes a tourist destination, both domestic and international. Tugu Train Station manages to reach passengers number increase by 10-17% annually. The train station has a good prospect to be developed into a multifunctional train station. The design proposal rises some problems: designing exterior spaces which directs users to the site, interior spaces which makes users navigate easily, and a seamless, time efficient, and clear movement flow from the site to the building. The implementation of wayfinding method is based on post-occupancy evaluation of the existing compound in which confusing building layout creates difficulties in mobility for the passengers. Wayfinding method focuses on spatial organisation, movement flow organisation, and signage placement. This design proposal would expand existing train station buildings to provide more rooms in the anticipation of passenger increase for year to come; as well as to build new public facilities. Furthermore, the implementation of wayfinding method is expected to create an accessible, time efficient, and secure layout which in turn caters various types of passenger.

Abstract

Among a number fortress of Gowa, the largest and strongest is the Somba Opu Fortress. Somba Opu Fortress is the main fortress of the Kingdom of Gowa, the King of Gowa’s resident. The uniqueness of the fortress is that it is made of clay and egg whites instead of cement, so tourists are interested in visiting it. The purpose of this research is to contribute the concept of knowledge relating to a study of revitalization of Somba Opu Fortress. In this study the method used is a naturalistic qualitative research with an inductive strategy. Revitalization is a development activity that is aimed to grow back important values of Cultural Heritage with function adjustment new space that is not contrary to principle preservation and cultural value of the community. Zoning system as revitalization methode of Somba Opu Fortress is still being explored by government of Sulawesi Selatan Province.  From the research it can be concluded that the Somba Opu Fortress is rectangular. The shape and size of the fortress is the most appropriate condition with the geomorphological conditions at that time. The area of Somba Opu Fortress as a historical district needs to be considered and well maintained by related stakehorders. One of the maintenance efforts that can be done is revitalization to restore the area make it more attractive and more useful than before. The fortress of Somba Opu has become historical area, so it should be protected, preserved and maintained so that the cultural meaning contained in it still remains.

Abstract

Increasing temperatures and changes in global weather are currently affecting all countries, including Indonesia. This problem is what we can call global warming. The city of Surabaya in particular experiences this problem where there is a shift in time related to the dry season and the rainy season. The formation of green open spaces is important in a city to reduce the impact that is imposed globally. The main target expected is to take part in reducing the temperature in the city of Surabaya so that the ecological balance in it is maintained even though it is small or limited to existing sites. This is based on regional regulations regarding the proportion of green open space that must be presented according to data from Bappeko Surabaya. The method in research using literature studies, observational studies, and study designs in a form tailored to the analysis. The result of this research is to add the availability and utilization of green open space in the form of vertical vegetation in the UKDC campus building to provide additional green open space for both the UKDC campus and the city of Surabaya. So in other words, the new UKDC campus building can provide additional green open space to achieve the availability of green open space on private land.

Abstract

Urban areas in Indonesia tend to experience a typical problem, namely the high rate of population growth due to urbanization which causes the management of urban space to become increasingly difficult. The high and increasing number of urban population has implications for the high pressure on the use of urban space, so that it is necessary to organize the space in urban areas, especially public and social facilities as well as public open spaces in urban areas. Padangsidimpuan City is one of the cities in North Sumatra Province that has green open spaces but has not received special attention. So it is necessary to do research on identification and development. This is done with the aim of creating a comfortable, productive and sustainable urban space to create a sustainable existence of public open spaces in urban areas. The method used in this research is qualitative and quantitative methods with literature, interview, survey and recording techniques which later the data obtained will be analyzed for the development of green open spaces (RTH). It is hoped that the results of this research will be useful as a basic foundation for interested parties in developing and in further research.

Abstract

This paper discusses a land management strategy that applies agritourism in BUMDes land in Puntukrejo Village, Karanganyar Regency. An appropriate planning strategy is necessary to manage the village's agricultural potencies supported by topographic beauty, cool microclimate, and various well-known products. This village also has BUMDes relatively wide land assets but is not utilized properly. The agritourism applied in land assets usage is expected to increase rural tourism visits by exposing agricultural activities. The case study method is used in this process because it has suitability, especially in researching a strategy to obtain answers to the question "how" and its argument "why." The analysis process is done descriptively qualitatively. The study identifies community activities and village potencies for determining various tourism activities and resolves land-use allocation. The result is applying agritourism that utilizes the attractiveness of agriculture by displaying the potential of fertility and natural beauty and supporting leading agricultural commodities, facilities, and harmony by equipping supporting facilities for the convenience of visitors supporting infrastructure by providing unique icons.

Abstract

The final results of this study describe the impact of changes in building functions on the facade  typology in Kampung Prawirotaman. These results can be used for reference and consideration in the character and visual development of Kampung Prawirotaman. Kampung Prawirotaman is one of the tourism destination in Yogyakarta. Through a long history, Kampung Prawirotaman which is known as a batik village has been transformed into a tourism village. This area is supported by infrastructure and strategic locations. This area is close to the city center and the other tourist destinantions. Kampung Prawirotaman had an architectural heritage that form of the visual characters from the adaptation of traditional and "indis" architecture. Now, the community develop the tourism facilities as independently and spontaneously in this area. The tourism facilities has resulted in changes the various building facade elements in Kampung Prawiotaman. The research used descriptive qualitative method with architectural typology approach.

Abstract

Mall is a commercial building that prioritizes pedestrian concept and spatial relation. The assessment of spatial relation can be analyzed by using space syntax method. There is a significant difference in the visitor rate between Matahari Mall and Ayani Megamall which gives rise to a hypothesis that the spatial configuration affects the success of the mall. The purpose of this study is to determine the problems that exist in spatial configuration of the mall. This research uses a sequential explanatory approach that combines the space syntax method (choice simulation and gate count observation) with grounded theory analysis. Grounded theory analysis is done by comparing space syntax data with the theory of the mall.  The data is analyzed with correlation analysis, to see the similitude of simulation data with field data. The result of this study is Ayani Megamall as the one with higher visitor rate has a better organized spatial configuration than Matahari Mall. This result has proven the hypothesis that spatial configuration affects the success of mall. The spatial configuration problems found are the placement of anchor, retail, and elevator which unable to support the visitor’s movement to all places.

Abstract

The mining industrial city of Sawahlunto has been designated as a World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO in 2019. The designation of this building has been through a study of its form, function, ownership and area. However, urban development will still occur. This is of course caused by several factors. Changes in the city, the design and function of these buildings need to be controlled to keep cultural heritage buildings from being lost. For this reason, research is needed to determine the character-forming elements of cultural heritage buildings in Sawahlunto City. This will be very useful for the Government to make guidelines for the restoration of cultural heritage buildings. The research method used is qualitative descriptive analysis with the UNESCO attribute building sample method that will be selected in each area. For this initial stage, the sample to be taken is in the core area (Map of Land Ownership Area A, Sawahlunto Mining and company town: A5 company town, Nominated Property) in the Ombilin Sawahlunto mining world heritage site, West Sumatra. The sample will become a guideline for similar buildings, then will become a reference for any conservation

Abstract

Alfairus Mosque is a mosque that has a design concept that adopts the design of the Nabawi mosque. The building that adopted the design of the Nabawi mosque in Medina has a characteristic high and wide openings on the outer facade with a combination of arch ornaments like most Persian mosque designs. This research focuses on the effect of openings and air movement in space which is a variable used to measure thermal comfort. In the implementation of this research, the existing measurements were carried out when there were no worship activities and measurements when there were worship activities. From the results of the study it was found that the temperature difference was very significant when data collection was in a condition without worship and there were worship activities. In data collection when empty conditions were taken at 10:00 WIB and at the time of worship activities were taken at the time of the Friday prayer service. When empty conditions are obtained the highest effective temperature is 27.80 ° C, while during worship services the highest effective temperature reaches 32.20 ° C. And at the highest temperature at each measuring point is the location of the center of the mosque where the location of the measuring point is far from the opening or hole of the mosque. While the lowest temperature is at the location close to the opening of the wall hole where the wind blows from that direction. In this study the lowest temperature was at the north side because at the time of the study the wind blew from the north to the south. Air movement greatly affects the decrease and increase in effective temperature in space, air movement is influenced by openings and wind direction. The higher the air movement the lower the effective temperature.

Abstract

At present energy efficiency is the main target to reduce building operating costs and achieve sustainability. The use of energy in buildings can be done through retrofitting. In addition, retrofitting has the potential to reduce carbon emissions, but there are also those who have to release some building features if necessary, energy features that are applied to existing buildings that have been issued to carry out renovations. Building reinforcement is a complex act, with various criteria that must be met with each other to achieve sustainable use of buildings. This article discusses the benefits, criteria, analytic methods, and decision making processes used to improve commercial buildings. The main criteria for increased energy consumption. Some other criteria are building materials, economy and occupants' needs. The analytical method for estimating or measuring the increase in retrofit that will be discussed in this article is a simulation of building energy. This method is widely used because it can predict the condition of buildings in the future. Each retrofit step is chosen and approved by the several factors; regulations, risks, business sustainability, knowledge, awareness and occupant demand. The retrofit valuation process is based on the value at which financial performance is taken into account. Retrofitting carried out on commercial buildings, applied with care, not only provides opportunities to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, but can also increase the value of these properties.
