Abstract

Internet penetration and technological developments have transformed society into a digital community. Political communication cannot run stagnant but continues to advance following developments. In Europe, this digitalization phenomenon gave birth to a new form in the political field, namely the birth of digital parties. The term digital party cannot be applied to political parties that use social media as a means of communication, but rather a party that upholds and applies digital philosophy in its internal and external communication. Paolo Gerbaudo sparked the idea of a Digital Party with five main criteria: cloud-based parties, participationism, hyperleader, superbase and plebiscitarianism 2.0. The main goal of digital parties is to empower people in an idealistic democratic sphere. In Indonesia, Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI) is well-known as a political party filled with youngsters and uses digital apps for political communication. After the 2019 General Election ended and failed to enter the central parliament (DPR RI), PSI presented a digital platform called the Solidarity Application for the public. The Solidarity Apps is expected to bring PSI's elected district legislative members (DPRD) closer to the public. PSI is the first political party to present this digital medium to the public. This qualitative case study research examines three things academically: Firstly, why does PSI use the Solidarity Application as a form of political communication? Secondly, knowing the use of the Solidarity Application. Lastly, understanding PSI's position within the framework of the Digital Party concept of Paulo Gerbaudo. The researcher conducted in-depth interviews with Director of Digital Platform of PSI, Sigit Widodo and a Member of the District Legislative from PSI, Yoel Yosaphat. This paper argues that PSI cannot yet be categorized as a digital party. Nonetheless, PSI is already in the right direction to evolve as a digital party in Indonesia because evolution is a process that takes time. Several obstacles in the pursuit of a digital party are discussed.

Abstract

Indonesia is known to the world for the tourism it offers. Various approaches to tourism are now emerging over time, and one of the focuses of government development is village-based tourism or ecovillage toursim. The development of this tourist village itself cannot run well if there is no cooperation between the local government and the local community. Therefore, there is a need for communication between the two parties who have a similar vision and mission and are able to work together to develop an ecovillage. This is also what the West Java government and the people of Garut city are doing to develop tourist villages in their area. This study aims to determine the pattern of information dissemination carried out by the Garut Regency Tourism and Culture Office (DISPARBUD) in the development of an ecovillage-based tourism. Using a qualitative descriptive case study method and involving three members of DISPARBUD as the participants, the results of this study indicate that DIPSPARBUD has a simple pattern of disseminating information to local communities regarding the development of ecovillage. This pattern goes through three stages namely; (1) Information distribution (determining communicators, compiling messages, scheduling socialization), (2) Performance reporting (analyzing and responding to the effects of communication, (3) Managing stakeholders (evaluation). With this communication pattern, DISPARBUD seeks to optimize the delivery of information regarding development a tourist village that continues to move forward and is expected to produce many other tourist villages in the future

Abstract

As a multicultural country, the opportunities for clashes and conflicts in Indonesia are wide open. This is due to the plurality and heterogeneity of Indonesian society which is reflected in the form of cultural diversity, religion, lifestyle in society which is quite complex. In the history of West Kalimantan Province, various horizontal conflicts have alternated, including 1997 and 1999, the Madura conflict with Malay/Dayak etc. The number of fatalities and material losses is incalculable. Singkawang is one of the 12 Level II Regions and 2 Cities in West Kalimantan Province. This city was included as the most tolerant city in Indonesia in two selections by the SETARA Institute. There were hardly any outbreaks of escalating conflict, even though the city is predominantly inhabited by ethnic Malays and Chinese from the Hakka or Khek sub-ethnic. This qualitative research with case study method was conducted with the aim of knowing and describing the potential of the people of Singkawang City from the aspect of harmony. The research was conducted by collecting data through interviews with three resource persons living in Singkawang and Pontianak, namely with researchers from the Institute of Dayakology, Malay ethnic leaders and Dayak ethnic leaders. Another data collection technique was to collect data from research sources, internet journals and from various books. The conclusion of this study is that there are several supporting factors that make the Singkawang people live in harmony. Namely, among others, regional leaders who are considered to represent ethnic groups in Singkawang City. Then the people feel that the city government treats them fairly. This political recognition can be seen from the celebration of religious holidays of each religion which is carried out lively. However, the period leading up to and after the Pilkada is one of the factors to watch out for that can trigger conflict. This is due to the unique composition of the population of Singkawang city, namely the majority are citizens of Chinese descent, while the contestants put forward identity politics.

Abstract

The Esports industry has begun to produce various media platforms that display interesting game content played by athletes, to attract viewers to join the platform through live streaming. The purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning of commodification of workers from the athlete's perspective, who are already involved as commodities. The expected benefits are recommendations to minimize the forms of commodification such as exploitation of workers. This study uses a review of media political economy theory that is associated with the movement of the esports industry ecosystem. The approach used in this research is qualitative by using a descriptive study. The data collection technique uses an in-depth interview method with esports athletes, virtual observation, and collecting documents. The findings are that esports athletes consciously feel that their identity as an athlete becomes a commodity that has a selling value to agencies and other actors in the digital sports industry. However, the good income and not being seriously regulated, allows them to reach as much profit as possible, although there are still revenue cuts from the agency. This profit also changes their early goals and mindset as esports athletes, from being a games players and start thinking about profit even though they realize are being exploited. The finding is the athlete's ability to conjure up their role as a commodity in the industry, by utilizing the athlete's identity as a valueable commodity for their own benefit.

Abstract

Communication is growing with the advancement of digitalization. This led to the emergence of behavioral construction in society in response to a phenomen. Various patterns of social communication are deliberately carried out to achieve certain interests, but in fact, social communication does not always run in a positive direction and benefit many parties. In the anti-vaccine community in some areas of Surabaya shows that social communication carried out in a negative direction is in the act of mass vaccine rejection. This is certainly interesting, because social communication that is done with manners, manners, and background emotions and solidarity actually leads to the act of constructing behavior. This study will examine digitalization and communication on the construction of anti-vaccine community behavior in the city of Surabaya. The approach taken is qualitative, while the ethnographic method is chosen to obtain relevant data on a daily phenomenon. The results of this study found that digital media in conducting intensive social communication was able to foster behavioral reconstruction. Sharing behavior that was initially believed to be true was deliberately spread, but with the existence of information in digital media, it is able to destroy the power of subjective reality that is created. Communication in digital media is certainly not the only factor, but with the intensification of social communication, social reconstruction can occur again and again.

However, doing this in virtually because of pandemic is tiring, all parties involved felt extreme fatigue after the event was over. It is because virtual meetings force human brain and body to put more focus and more alert for a long time, in the end, even casual conversation feels tiring. The purpose of this study is to analyze the experiences of child laborers regarding their communication behavior. The theory that underlies this research is the Phenomenological theory of Viktor Frankl, and the Symbolic Interaction theory of Mead. This study uses a qualitative approach with phenomenology as the research method. The results showed that the experience of child laborers regarding communication behavior is closely related to communication in shoe repair shops with bosses and employers, adult co-workers and fellow child laborers, peer groups, and family members. The communication of child laborers with the four environments encourages them to create distinctive cultural characteristics in the form of a world of symbols created together. The suffering they face is interpreted differently by child laborers, so that child laborers do not carry out the process of movements to lead to a better life.
