Abstract

The Muhammadiyah Gamping Special School (SLB) in Sleman is an inclusive school founded in 2012. The Muhammadiyah Gamping SLB was built to facilitate a place of learning for children who have deficiencies or disabilities. The problems faced by SLB Muhammadiyah Gamping are not yet known to the public and have never been reported by the media. In fact, inclusive schools are a necessity for some members of society. The solution to the problems faced by SLB Muhammadiyah Gamping is to develop publications about the school's work through mass media. The science and technology used in this service are user-generated content technology and digital journalism. Activities were carried out with digital journalism workshops and operational assistance for user-generated content. Sustainability means that the school can continue to write news after the service is completed. The implementation results exceeded the target with 28 news stories, from the initial target of 12 news stories for the SLB Muhammadiyah Gamping journalism brand.

Abstract

Pregnant women prone to have anemia if the Hb level is less than 11.0 g/dL. This condition poses a high risk of health problems, so detection of anemia in pregnant women must be done as early as possible. Posyandu cadres can carry out this task as long-term health workers. If you find signs of anemia, you can immediately take them to a health facility for further examination. The aim of this service is to increase the knowledge of posyandu cadres about how to physically examine signs of anemia and apply home care to pregnant women. The activity was carried out in two stages. The first stage was training for 10 Posyandu cadres, and the second stage was practice. Posyandu cadres carried out physical examinations for signs of anemia in pregnant women. Next, health workers checked hemoglobin (Hb) levels. Pregnant women who are diagnosed with anemia with Hb less than 11 g/dL, were then given home care by local cadres. Of the 18 pregnant women, 8 were detected as having anemia. Next, the cadres carried out home care by providing boiled sweet potato leaves for one week. The results of the activity showed that cadres’ knowledge increased as seen from an increase in the average score of 12 points from the pre-test compared to the post-test. Qualitatively, the cadres expressed their happiness at being able to treat pregnant women with anemia by using local ingredients. This activity can be carried out with other pregnant women as an effort to improve the health status of mothers and children.

Abstract

Keranggan Village has a large area of land for agrotourism development, with the main attraction as an Ecotourism Village. Pokdarwis members, as partners in community service, have joined the South Tangerang Grape Community. They highlight grapes as the village's leading commodity to support its Ecotourism Village title. However, several aspects of the problems faced by Pokdarwis are aspects of agrotourism plant cultivation techniques and aspects of human resource management in applying agrotourism plant cultivation technology. The service aims to introduce grape cultivation technology and increase knowledge of grape cultivation techniques using drip irrigation techniques. Several solutions are offered to partners: (1) pioneering grape cultivation by the community, which can be used as a fruit-picking attraction; (2) applying digital drip irrigation techniques as irrigation support to support grape plant productivity; and (3) providing training and assistance to the community so that they have the skills to implement grape cultivation and apply drip irrigation technology. The results and implications of this program are that the people of Keranggan village can apply suitable technology that makes it easier to grow grapes and makes Keranggan village a pioneer of grape agrotourism in South Tangerang.

Abstract

STEM, the acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, is several groups of knowledge that are modified in one lesson. Nowadays, STEM learning has a special place in the hearts of every educator as an effort to improve 21st century skills. STEM learning can be combined with the provision of a makerspace. This article discussed the provision of STEM-based makerspaces in the world of education as learning curriculum innovations that can be implemented. This qualitative research applied a case study approach. The research sample consisted of 10 people in early childhood with an age range of 5-6 years. Interviews, observation, and documentation were methods used to make it easier to collect research data, while data analysis techniques were carried out by means of data triangulation starting from the stages of data collection, data reduction and data presentation. Based on the results of the research, information has been obtained that the application of STEM-based makerspaces in the world of education, especially at the preschool level, can stimulate children's development optimally. This is based on children's direct experience when carrying out activities that are more meaningful than just talking. Apart from that, the application of STEM-based makerspaces in the world of education is also believed to be able to increase children's interest and learning outcomes so that in the future, the application of STEM-based makerspaces should be increased further, especially in the 21st century

Abstract

Indonesia is located on the equator with a rich potential of local spices, for example, white turmeric of Curcuma Mangga (Curcuma mangga Val.) and Sambiloto leaves (Andrographis paniculata). These two food ingredients are only sold in fresh form because some people do not know how to process them properly and practically. Curcuma mangga can be processed into instant, ready-to-drink powder that is easy to consume. Not only that but curcuma mangga and sambiloto leaves also contain antioxidants such as polyphenols, which can be useful for increasing immune power. The purpose of this service is for partners to understand the benefits of Curcuma Mangga and Sambiloto leaves. The outreach activity was held on November 23, 2022, and was attended by 21 Himatepa-HMPPI UMBY administrators and 54 NREC Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. This activity includes counseling and training about the benefits of Curcuma Mangga and Sambiloto leaves and how to market them. The counseling also discussed how to process instant powder and Sambiloto. This service program resulted in partners understanding the benefits of Curcuma Mangga and Sambiloto leaves to increase immunity and its marketing strategies. The panelists liked the overall instant mango powder product with a score of 3.95. Partners can also increase their entrepreneurial abilities by producing instant powder from Curcuma Mangga and Sambiloto.

Abstract

The community service activities in Kaduela Village, which were part of a matching fund program for the year 2023, were executed from July–December 2023 in accordance with the proposed activity plan. The objective of this initiative was to establish a comprehensive water pipeline infrastructure to provide clean water to the inhabitants of Bina Loka and Bina Bakti Hamlet, who lacked access to the numerous springs located in Kaduela Village. Proper and comprehensive piping planning was necessary to provide equitable distribution of water among community members in the two elevated hamlets relative to the water source. The process of addressing issues in Kaduela Village involved several sequential steps. These steps encompassed the collection of primary and secondary data, the depiction of the new piping network on a map of Kaduela Village, the simulation of the new piping network using Epanet software, the construction of the new piping network, and the subsequent commissioning of the system. The chosen pipe network configuration is a dead-end system, which was deemed appropriate for implementation in the Bina Loka and Bina Bakti hamlets, with the aim of providing water services to a total of 58 households in Bina Loka and 15 households in Bina Bakti. The process of pipeline network designing was conducted by Mechanical Engineering students from Universitas Pasundan and Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Cirebon, under the supervision of their respective supervisors, utilizing the Epanet software. In addition to receiving funding under the 2023 matching fund program, this initiative also garnered comprehensive support from the BUMDES Arya Kamuning as the primary collaborator

Abstract

Used cooking oil is dangerous for health, and its presence can pollute the environment if thrown away without processing it first. This training activity aims to provide insight and knowledge to the RT 03 Pasekan Lor area community about the dangers of used cooking oil and efforts to process used cooking oil into raw material for dishwashing soap. The activity aims to increase community knowledge and skills in using used cooking oil as a raw material for washing soap. This activity was carried out in several stages: (1) focus group discussion with RT 03 Pasekan Lor administrators to explore problems and formulate priority activities, (2) education on the dangers of used cooking oil for health and the environment, (3) training on making used cooking oil dish soap, and (4) evaluation monitoring activities related to participants' abilities in the independent practice of processing used cooking oil into dishwashing soap. Residents' awareness of not carelessly throwing away used cooking oil in the environment and their willingness to collect and process it into dishwashing soap increased after participating in the activity. The antimicrobial test results for dishwashing soap made from used cooking oil showed a total plate number of 6x102 colonies/ml and a pH of 7.4, meeting the SNI 4075-2:2017 standard. Organoleptic testing showed that the panelists liked the color, smell, viscosity, foam, and firmness of the training products. However, the product's bacterial inhibition test was still below that of commercial dishwashing soap products.
