Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of transformational leadership by the principal in improving teacher discipline at SDIT Miftahul Wildan. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results reveal that the principal effectively applied transformational leadership through four key indicators: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. This leadership style successfully fostered a disciplined work environment, motivating teachers to perform their duties effectively. Supporting factors include effective communication, a clear vision, and full support from the principal. However, challenges such as the principal's limited experience and the need for further leadership training were identified. This study recommends strengthening leadership training for principals and enhancing facilities and infrastructure to sustainably support the implementation of transformational leadership.

Abstract

Like many countries, Nigeria faces serious security challenges due to heinous activities of the deadly group known as Boko Haram (lit. Western Education is Prohibited (Haram)). Right from her emergence till date, this militant group has been terrorizing lives and properties of innocent citizens of the country under the guise of Jihad. But, this jihad claim is baseless in the light of the group’s wanton violation of life and property, the two of the five necessary human interests (maqāsid daruriyyah) which the Shari’ah seeks to protect. Therefore, this paper studies the Boko Haram Jihad claim viz-a-viz her wanton violation of life and property which are regarded by the Islamic law as inalienable human rights as underscored in the theory of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah (Objectives of Shari’ah). Relevant materials were consulted in libraries to carry out the research. Inter alia, it becomes clear from the findings that the concept of Jihad is a sacred duty in Islam, but it has been abused by Boko Haram as evident in her unjustifiable violation of life and property of innocent citizens. This is against the principles of the Qur‘an and the Sunnah, which the group always claims to defend. The paper argues that, while Jihad is sanctioned in Islam, it is guided by rules and regulations. In addition, life and property are sacrosanct in Islam and nothing can justify their violation as being perpetrated by Boko Haram in Nigeria. Hence, the group’s jihad claim is far from the truth because her activities contradict the lofty objectives of Islamic law (maqāṣid al-sharīʿah) which seek to protect life and property etc. The paper recommends that groups and individuals must have proper understanding of Islam in order to propagate it correctly. Otherwise, the religion of peace would be mistaken for violence and terrorism. Also, the government of Nigeria should ensure fair hearing and justice in dealing with any insurgent groups. This is necessary in view of unfortunate extra-judicial killing of the Boko Haram leader which turned out to be a seed of violence in the northern part of the country

Abstract

Abstract

This article discusses Mustafa Sabri's critical perspective on political secularism, focusing on the dangers, nature, and consequences of the separation of religion and state. Mustafa Sabri, a prominent Muslim in the first half of the 20th century, sharply criticized the ideology of secularism, and revealed that the ideology is not only an ideological deviation, but also an evil plan to abandon religion. Mustafa Sabri identified the essence of secularism as the separation between Islamic governance and religious principles, described religion as the loss of authority over governance, and pointed out negative consequences such as the loss of morality and degradation of values. This paper provides a detailed overview of Mustafa Sabri's views on political secularism, discusses his critique of the dangers of secularism, explains in detail the nature of the separation of religion and state, and describes the possible negative impacts for Islam. This paper is useful for those who want to understand the Islamic perspective on political secularism.

Abstract

Islam prescribes a complete code of conduct for human life including economic activities. The prescribed Islamic code of conducts is generally refers to Shari’ah, on which Islamic banking has been founded. The most important characteristic of Islamic banking is to maintain its products and operations according to the principles of Shari’ah, which is based on the Holy Qur’an, Hadith, Ijma, Qiyas and Ijtihad. Islamic banking has rapidly been growing in the modern economic world as an alternative to the conventional banking. It is expected that Islamic banking operations will not only comply with the Shari’ah but also will contribute towards achieving the Maqasid-al-Shari’ah (objectives of Shari’ah), that is the ultimate welfare of the Muslim Ummah and the human being. The findings of several studies showed that Shari’ah compliance is the single most important factor for choosing Islamic banking. But unfortunately, many recent studies revealed that many Islamic banks are violating their obligation of Shari’ah compliance. Hence, the paper aims at understanding the Shari’ah foundation of Islamic banking with a view to examining that the modes of Islamic banking are based on the principles of Shari’ah. It also incorporates the major components of Shari’ah and its concept towards economic tools such as, ownership, wealth, money, capital, trust and accountability with the aim of having a comprehensive idea about the Shari’ah foundation of Islamic banking. The methodology used in this conceptual study is a critical analysis of literature survey. The literature on the concept of Shari’ah basis of Islamic banking are read to understand the basic components of Shari’ah and its principles to govern economic practices with a view to examining its application in Islamic banking industry and identifying the Shari’ah foundation of the modes and contracts used by the modern Islamic banking industry.

Abstract

Mulla Sadra named Islamic philosophy as al-Hikmah al-Muta'aliyah. According to him, al-hikmah al-muta'aliyah is knowledge based on intellectual intuition (irfan or isyraqi dzawq), rational proof ('aql or istidlal), and sharia (burhani). Al-Hikmah al-Muta'aliyyah is a synthesis of three styles of thought, namely: theology with a dialectical, polemical pattern (jaddaly), philosophy with a demonstrative pattern (burhany), and theosophy with an illuminationist and gnostic pattern (dzawq). This research uses descriptive analysis methods to explore Mulla Sadra's philosophical thinking. The results of this research reveal that the building of thought that was successfully built by Mulla Sadra through his synthesis of thought had a major influence on the development of philosophy in Persia, India and Iraq. However, the interesting thing is that Sadra brought him into contact with the truth of the Koran and Hadith. The harmonization he carried out resulted in a synthesis, namely integrating it through the three paths of Al-Qur'an (revelation), Burhan (demonstration or intellect), Irfan (spiritual or mystical). Because the three of them are not contradictory in their aim of achieving truth. The depiction of Mulla Sadra's philosophy can be done well by referring to his Ontology, Theology, Physics and Eschatology.
