Abstract

The problem in this study is the existence of negative perceptions among some students regarding participation in student organizations, which is considered to interfere with study focus, as well as variations in interpersonal communication skills that affect students’ academic achievement. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of Organizational Activeness and Interpersonal Communication Ability on the academic achievement of 2021 Stambuk Office Administration Education students. This research was conducted at the State University of Medan. This type of research is ex post facto, with the sampling technique using total sampling or the entire population of 88 students. The data collection instruments were observation, documentation, and a questionnaire. Instrument testing used validity and reliability tests conducted with SPSS software version 31. The data analysis techniques included normality test, linearity test, multicollinearity test, heteroscedasticity test, multiple linear regression analysis, coefficient of determination, and hypothesis testing using t-test and F-test with SPSS version 31. The result of multiple linear regression calculations shows that partially, organizational activeness (X₁) has a positive and significant effect on academic achievement, with tcount= 5.981 > ttable = 1.676 and α = 0.000 < 0.05. Interpersonal communication ability (X₂) also has a positive and significant effect on academic achievement, with tcount = 14.613 > ttable = 1.676 and α = 0.000 < 0.05. Simultaneously, both variables have a positive and significant effect on academic achievement, with Fcount = 2910.699 > F_table = 3.18 and α = 0.000 < 0.05, and the contribution of the independent variables to students’ academic achievement is 79.2%. The results of this study indicate that the hypothesis is accepted, namely that there is a positive and significant effect of Organizational Activeness and Interpersonal Communication Ability on students’ academic achievement, both partially and simultaneously.

Abstract

This study aims to construct a substantive theory of agribusiness and productive waqf diversification as a sustainable financing strategy for Islamic educational institutions. The research is grounded in the fact that many Islamic schools and pesantren still depend heavily on a single funding source, such as student tuition, which creates financial vulnerability and limits institutional innovation. Although agribusiness and productive waqf have been discussed as alternative funding schemes, few studies have explained in depth how Islamic values shape the economic and managerial practices that sustain educational financing. Using a qualitative Grounded Theory approach, this study explores the social processes and meanings constructed by educational stakeholders through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis at a waqf-based school operating a productive agribusiness unit. Data were analyzed through open, axial, and selective coding to identify core categories and develop a conceptual model of value-based sustainable financing. The findings reveal that Islamic values such as amanah (trust), barakah (divine blessing), and productive waqf management serve as the moral foundation guiding the institution’s financial behavior. Agribusiness and waqf diversification not only strengthen financial resilience but also function as entrepreneurial learning media and instruments of spiritual character formation. The study develops the “Value-Based Agribusiness and Productive Waqf Diversification Model”, which integrates moral, social, and managerial dimensions as a theoretical basis for sustainable Islamic educational financing. Keywords: Agribusiness diversification, productive waqf, sustainable financing, Islamic education, Grounded Theory

Abstract

The indigenous community of Pogon Village is strongly bound to three elements of power that form an integrated belief system and represent ancestral heritage preserved to this day. These three elements of belief are God, Nature, and Spirits/Ancestors. The implementation of these beliefs can be found in the traditional ritual Wewar Huler Wair (the sprinkling of awar-awar water). This study explores in depth the symbolic meaning contained in the Wewar Huler Wair ritual. The purpose of this research is to describe the symbolic meanings embedded in the ritual and to explain the underlying intentions for performing the Wewar Huler Wair (sprinkling of awar-awar water) traditional ceremony. The method used is qualitative, with data collected through interviews and field observations. The findings of this study indicate that the Wewar Huler Wair ritual serves as a symbolic expression of gratitude addressed to the three elements of power, believed by the local community. This ritual is regarded as sacred and is typically performed during moments of joy and celebration, adjusted to the category of customary events being held.
