Pendas : Jurnah Ilmiah Pendidikan Dasar is a journal published twice a year, namely in June and December that aims to be a forum for scientific publications to pour ideas and studies complemented with the results of research related to primary school education. To achieve this, basic education journals will selectively disseminate ideas and studies complemented by quality research results related to basic education, develop an education center to the elementary-school that can produce innovative, creative and original work and tested in the field of education and learning elementary School to be disseminated and implemented for improving the quality of primary-to-national education at the national, regional and international levels.

This study aimed to improve the language abilities of children aged 4–5 years through the use of hand puppet media. The research employed a two-cycle Classroom Action Research design involving 20 children at Putra Bangsa Gading Kindergarten, Probolinggo. Data were collected through structured observations based on receptive and expressive language indicators and analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques with percentage analysis. The results showed that in the pre-cycle phase, 55.0% of children were in the Not Yet Developed category, 30.0% were Beginning to Develop, and 15.0% were Developing as Expected. In Cycle I, improvement was observed, with 55.0% of children in the Beginning to Develop category, 40.0% in Developing as Expected, and 5.0% in Very Well Developed. A significant increase occurred in Cycle II, where all children (100%) reached at least the Developing as Expected category, consisting of 55.0% Developing as Expected and 45.0% Very Well Developed. These findings indicate that the use of hand puppet media is effective in enhancing the language abilities of kindergarten children.

Learning Media is a tool that greatly supports the learning process both indoors and outdoors. This study aims to determine the development of animated video media based on the Canva application with the theme of objects around me for grade III of elementary school. The method used is R&D (Research and Development) or in Indonesian it means research and development. The test subjects in this study were material experts, media experts, and grade III students of Mbernut State Elementary School, totaling 14 students. The research instrument is a measuring tool such as tests, questionnaires, interview guidelines, and observation guidelines used by researchers to collect data in a study. Based on the results of the evaluation conducted on the video learning media assisted by the Canva application, it can be concluded that this media has received a very good assessment from three different validator groups, namely material experts, media experts, and teachers as end users. The evaluation includes aspects of suitability, effectiveness, and quality of the media in supporting the learning process in the educational environment Based on the results of the validity of the validation of material and media experts carried out First, the Validation of Material Experts gave a very positive assessment with a percentage of 95.7%. This indicates that content experts rated the material presented in the video as highly appropriate, aligned with the established curriculum and learning objectives. Criteria such as accuracy, depth of content, and relevance to core competencies were highly rated in this evaluation. Second, Media Expert Validation yielded a score of 85.2%.

Digital learning assessment is one of the important innovations in modern education that can improve the quality of the teaching and learning process through the use of technology. One of the applications currently widely used in learning assessment is Kahoot. Kahoot is a game-based learning platform that allows teachers to conduct assessments in an interactive, fun, and easily accessible way for students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the Kahoot application as digital learning assessment on the learning motivation of primary school students. The research method used is quantitative. The research sample consists of 30 fifth-grade students from SDN 120 Pekanbaru. The research instruments include a student learning motivation questionnaire. The questionnaire was administered after the students used the Kahoot application in learning assessment. The questionnaire was administered with the aim of observing the students' responses to the use of the Kahoot application in learning assessment. The results of the study show that 14.11% always, 29.63% often, 21.16% sometimes, 25.40% rarely, and 9.70% never.

This study investigates the effect of the reciprocal teaching style on students’ learning outcomes in freestyle swimming at SMP Negeri 3 Lubuk Pakam. The problem underlying this research is the low mastery of freestyle swimming techniques among students, which is partly caused by the use of teacher-centered instructional methods that limit student participation and interaction. The purpose of this study was to examine whether the implementation of the reciprocal teaching style could significantly improve students’ freestyle swimming learning outcomes. This research employed an experimental method using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The population consisted of all eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Lubuk Pakam, with a sample of 32 students selected using probability sampling techniques. Data were collected through freestyle swimming skill tests administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the implementation of the reciprocal teaching style. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential analysis through a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ freestyle swimming learning outcomes after the application of the reciprocal teaching style. The findings indicate that the reciprocal teaching style effectively enhances students’ technical mastery, learning engagement, and overall performance in freestyle swimming. Therefore, this teaching style is recommended as an alternative instructional strategy in physical education, particularly in swimming lessons.

This study aims to determine the relationship between the clapping beat game and the ability of 5–6 year old children to recognize patterns and rhythms. The clapping beat game is an activity that involves children's movement, hearing, and focus, so it can help the development of their musical abilities. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The research subjects consisted of 18 children aged 5–6 years at Robbani Indralaya Integrated Islamic Kindergarten. Data collection was carried out through observations using an assessment sheet to evaluate the clapping beat game and the children's ability to recognize patterns and rhythms. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results of the study showed a significant relationship between the clapping beat game and children's ability to understand and follow patterns and rhythms. This finding indicates that children's ability to follow the clapping beat game is related to their ability to recognize and follow patterns and rhythms. This research is expected to provide benefits in enriching music and movement-based learning activities in early childhood education.

Mathematics learning in elementary schools is often perceived by students as abstract and disconnected from everyday life. This condition results in low conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills, particularly in the topic of weight unit conversion. This article aims to examine the exploration of ethnomathematics in fish weighing activities as a meaningful learning context to strengthen the concept of weight unit conversion (kilograms, quintals, and tons) and train the problem-solving skills of sixth-grade elementary school students. The methods used are literature study and conceptual study of ethnomathematics practices in fish buying and selling activities in traditional markets and fishing ports. The results of the study indicate that fish weighing activities involving contextual weight units can connect mathematical concepts with students' real-life experiences, improve conceptual understanding, and train mathematical problem-solving skills. Thus, the integration of ethnomathematics with fish weighing has the potential to be an effective contextual learning approach for weight unit conversion material in elementary schools.

The purpose of this research were to find the students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text that taught by using activating background knowledge and to find whether significant differences of student’ who activate background knowledge with the student’ who are not activate the background knowledge on reading comprehension in descriptive text. This was experimental research. The researcher used two classes on this research (experimental class and control class). It means that by comparing two groups by giving a different treatment then giving a test to check whether there was significant effect or not. The population of this research was 278 students, because the population number was big, the researcher took purposive sampling with some consideration. The instrument that used was multiple choice the questions consist of 20 items. T- test was used to analysis the data. The mean score of the data analysis for significant effect of using activating background knowledge was 50,67 in pre-test and 83,67 in post-test. The result shows that to 55,78 compared to level significant 0,05 was 1,70 and it showed that the Ha was accepted. This can be concluded that there was significant effect of using activating background knowledge on students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text.

This research was a research and development with reference to the 4D model which is an extension of Define, Design, Development and Dissemination. The instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire. The data analysis technique was descriptive qualitative. This research produced a product in the form of Snakes and Ladders media for My Hero material in grade IV. The snakes and ladders media was declared suitable for use in grade as a learning medium. This can be seen based on the validation results by material experts, media experts, and teacher responses. The results of the material validation show that the average overall assessment of material experts on the media obtained a percentage of 88%, including the valid (feasible) category. The results of the media validation show that the average overall assessment of media experts on the media obtained a percentage of 80%, including the valid (feasible) category. The results of the teacher response validation show that the average overall assessment obtained a percentage of 98%. This percentage is included in the very valid (very feasible) criteria. There was no revision to the student response to the snake and ladder media, and getting a percentage of 96% means that the media developed is “very valid” and can be applied as a medium for the teaching and learning process in schools.

Pembelajaran pecahan di sekolah dasar sering dianggap sulit oleh siswa karena bersifat abstrak, sehingga berdampak pada rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas III di SDN Cibeureum Hilir CBM melalui penggunaan media Domino Pecahan dalam pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam beberapa siklus, meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas III SDN Cibeureum Hilir CBM. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media Domino Pecahan dapat meningkatkan keaktifan siswa, pemahaman konsep pecahan, serta kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika. Dengan demikian, media Domino Pecahan efektif digunakan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi pecahan.

Improving the quality of learning is inseparable from teachers' ability to reflect on their teaching practices. Self-reflection is an important part of teachers' continuous professional development, as it allows them to identify their strengths and weaknesses and design improvements to their teaching. One instrument that has the potential to encourage teachers' reflective abilities is academic supervision. However, the implementation of academic supervision in the field is still often oriented towards administrative and evaluative aspects, so it is not yet optimal in fostering a culture of self-reflection among teachers. This study aims to examine in depth the role of academic supervision in encouraging teachers' self-reflection in the learning process. This study uses a qualitative approach with a holistic single case study design. The research was conducted at Al-Bayan Anyer Islamic Boarding School High School, which was selected purposively because it has a relatively systematic implementation of academic supervision. The research subjects consisted of one supervisor and five teachers who actively participated in academic supervision activities. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, non-active participant observation, and documentation analysis. The data obtained were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that academic supervision plays an important role in encouraging teachers to engage in self-reflection when it is carried out using a collaborative approach and is oriented towards mentoring. Academic supervision that emphasizes constructive feedback and reflective questions can help teachers develop critical awareness of their teaching practices. Conversely, supervision that focuses on control and administrative compliance is less effective in fostering teachers' reflective abilities. This study concludes that academic supervision has a strategic role as a means of facilitating teachers' professional development.
