Abstract

Changes in the world of work driven by digitalization, automation, and sustainability demands encourage Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions to adopt competency-based education (CBE) and outcome-based education (OBE). However, many reforms remain limited to curriculum documents, resulting in inconsistent graduate competency outcomes. This article presents a systematic literature review (SLR) based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines to synthesize evidence from the last five years (2021–2026) regarding: (1) the characteristics of CBE/OBE design in TVET curricula, (2) determinants of implementation in practice, (3) evaluation approaches and the strength of evidence, and (4) the role of design–implementation–evaluation coherence in explaining outcome success. The literature search identified 516 records and resulted in 7 studies that met the inclusion criteria. Thematic synthesis indicates that strong curriculum design is characterized by measurable learning outcomes, explicit curriculum mapping, and the integration of digital and transversal competencies. Implementation is primarily influenced by instructor capacity, the availability of practical training facilities, and industry partnerships in work-based learning (WBL). In terms of evaluation, the weakest evidence lies in the reporting of assessment validity and reliability, assessor moderation, and the linkage between assessment outcomes, certification, and employability. This article proposes the CBE/OBE Coherence Framework, which emphasizes outcome–activity–assessment alignment audits, governance of industry partnerships, and data-driven feedback mechanisms as key strategies to bridge the gap in TVET curriculum reform

Abstract

Language development is an important aspect of early childhood development because it supports children’s ability to communicate, express ideas, and interact with their social environment. However, in learning practices, some children still experience limitations in language abilities due to the lack of engaging and interactive learning media. This study aims to examine the effect of the Magic Box (Mystery Box) media on the language skills of children aged 5–6 years at TK Negeri 54 Talang Bukit. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 24 children divided into two groups: 12 children in the experimental group and 12 children in the control group. Data were collected using an observation sheet containing 15 indicators of children's language skills. Data analysis was conducted through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing using an independent sample t-test. The results showed that the average language skill score in the experimental group increased from 27.91 to 48.5, while the control group increased from 24.58 to 27.5. The hypothesis test indicated that t-count (6.584) > t-table (1.717) at a significance level of 0.05 with an effect size of 2.79, categorized as a strong effect. These findings indicate that the Magic Box media is effective in improving early childhood language skills through interactive and enjoyable learning activities.

Abstract

This article systematically reviews how Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) curricula can be dynamically adjusted through industry-demand data, labor market intelligence, and stakeholder feedback mechanisms. The review was prepared from the provided article outline, the PRISMA 2020 flow material, and a Scopus export containing an initial corpus of 516 records and seven studies included in the qualitative synthesis. The analysis focuses on four themes: data-driven curriculum models, the role of Labor Market Information Systems (LMIS), TVET–industry collaboration mechanisms, and dynamic curriculum adjustment models. The synthesis shows that adaptive TVET curricula are being shaped through three major pathways: job-vacancy analytics, indicator-based and statistical curriculum optimization, and stakeholder-driven curriculum reconstruction. Available evidence suggests that these approaches improve the relevance of learning outcomes, update module priorities, and strengthen the alignment between practical learning and actual workplace requirements. At the same time, the literature reveals persistent limitations, including uneven data integration, the dominance of conceptual or simulation-based evidence, and the lack of longitudinal employability evaluation. This review argues that TVET reform should move beyond conventional outcome-based education and be redesigned as an adaptive system connecting labor market data, agile curriculum governance, and intensive industry collaboration.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe how audiovisual media were utilized to improve elementary school students’ understanding of relay running concepts at SD Negeri 7 Salotungo. The study employed a descriptive qualitative design with a case-study orientation. Data were collected through learning observations, informal interviews with the physical education teacher, and documentation of classroom and field activities. The learning sequence consisted of presenting short audiovisual clips, guided questioning, and immediate relay practice in the school yard. Data were analyzed through reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, while trustworthiness was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The findings show that audiovisual media helped students understand the sequence of runners, the exchange zone, baton passing techniques, movement timing, and teamwork more concretely. Students demonstrated higher attention during lesson presentation, participated more actively in discussion, and moved to field practice with better readiness and confidence. The combination of video, teacher scaffolding, and contextual practice reduced misconceptions that commonly emerge when relay running is taught only through verbal explanation. The study concludes that audiovisual media function effectively as pedagogical support in elementary physical education when the videos are short, focused, and directly linked to guided practice

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency in the school environment is one of the educational problems that can influence students’ social, emotional, and academic development. Various forms of deviant behavior such as truancy, lateness, smoking, violations of school rules, and irresponsible use of social media indicate the need for systematic preventive efforts through guidance and counseling services. This study aims to analyze the management of preventive guidance and counseling in preventing juvenile delinquency at Madrasah Aliyah Al Muniroh ujungpangkah Gresik. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of the school principal, guidance and counseling teachers, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the management of preventive guidance and counseling is implemented through the stages of program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Program planning is prepared based on students’ needs analysis obtained from records of rule violations and observations of students’ behavior. The implementation of services includes classroom guidance, group guidance, individual counseling, and character strengthening integrated with religious values. The implementation of these preventive services is able to increase students’ understanding of the impacts of juvenile delinquency, strengthen self-control, and foster moral awareness so that the potential for juvenile delinquency can be minimized within the school environment.

Abstract

The relevance of Indonesian Vocational High Schools (SMK) curriculum in the Tourism Service Business (Usaha Layanan Wisata/ULW) concentration a new nomenclature replacing the Tourism Travel Business (UPW) designation under the Merdeka Curriculum remains a critical challenge. With graduate employment rates at 58.3%, systemic competency gaps are evident. No integrative systematic review has examined all three curriculum development stages design, implementation, and evaluation specifically for the ULW concentration. This study: (1) maps ULW curriculum design practices within the link and match framework; (2) identifies critical implementation factors; and (3) examines effective evaluation models. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following PRISMA 2020 protocol was conducted across five databases (Scopus, ERIC, SINTA, Garuda, Google Scholar supplementary) for 2014-2024. From 389 identified records, 42 articles met inclusion criteria and were analyzed using thematic synthesis, with inter rater reliability assessed by Cohen's Kappa (κ = 0.81). Findings reveal: (1) ULW curriculum design is dominated by top down approaches with ceremonial industry involvement, producing a 34% competency gap against SKKNI standards; (2) implementation faces structural barriers including teacher industry competency gaps (61.5% without prior industry experience) and largely symbolic teaching factory implementation; and (3) curriculum evaluation remains administrative summative without data driven continuous improvement. Based on this systematic synthesis, this article proposes the DUDI PDCA Curriculum Framework positioning industry partners as active co-developers across all PDCA cycle stages as a grounded conceptual contribution to Indonesian vocational tourism education.

Abstract

Field Work Practice (PKL) is now formally established as a subject in Indonesia's Merdeka Curriculum under Permendikdasmen No. 13/2025 and BSKAP Decree No. 046/H/KR/2025. A persistent paradox between strengthening regulations and a vocational school (SMK) open unemployment rate of 8.63% (BPS, February 2025) justifies the urgency of a systematic review. Purpose: To map and synthesize empirical evidence on determinants of PKL effectiveness at SMK (2015-2025) and propose an Input-Process-Output conceptual model. Method: Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with PRISMA 2020 protocol; from 502 records across Google Scholar, GARUDA, and SINTA, 50 articles were included via thematic synthesis (Thomas & Harden, 2008); quality was assessed using an adapted CASP instrument; inter rater agreement κ=0.84 (substantial agreement). Findings: Six themes emerged. PKL consistently and positively influences work readiness (single model β=0.42-0.55; r=0.59-0.67). Effectiveness is conditional upon five critical factors within an Input-Process-Output framework. The phenomenon of “ceremonial PKL” (formal but non substantive placements) was identified in ≥3 studies as a systemic threat. Contribution: This article proposes an original IPO based Conditional Model of PKL Effectiveness that explicitly integrates Merdeka Curriculum policy dimensions and Indonesia's structural conditions distinguishing it from generic IPO models. The model links planning quality, partnership intensity, supervision quality, competency alignment, and assessment authenticity as a policy framework for PKL.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in improving the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students in the science subject at Sidorejo 02 Elementary School. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The research subjects consisted of fourth-grade students and the class teacher as the learning implementer. The subject determination was done purposively. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Critical thinking skills were analyzed based on indicators of identifying problems, analyzing information, expressing opinions with logical reasons, drawing conclusions, and reflecting on project results. The results showed that the implementation of PjBL had a positive impact on students' critical thinking skills. Through systematic learning stages, students were more active in asking questions, discussing, collaborating, solving problems, and presenting project results in a coherent manner. In addition, student motivation and enthusiasm increased during the learning process. Despite obstacles such as time constraints and lack of student focus, overall the PjBL model was effective in creating meaningful learning and was able to have a positive impact on elementary school students' critical thinking.
