Abstract

This study aims to identify 1) connotative meanings and 2) symbolic meanings in the poem Die zwei Gesellen by Joseph von Eichendorff and to analyze the application of Michael Riffaterre’s semiotic theory in revealing those meanings. The theory used in this research is Michael Riffaterre’s semiotic theory. The data in this research are the stanzas and lines in the poem Die zwei Gesellen by Joseph von Eichendorff, which consists of 6 stanzas and 5 lines in each stanza. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques. The results of this study are as follows: connotative meanings are found in expressions that contain feelings, inner experiences, and indirect associations of meaning; symbolic meanings are found through symbols such as journey, nature, waves, and spring which represent the journey of human life. In addition, based on Riffaterre’s semiotic analysis, forms of indirect expression are found, namely displacing of meaning, distorting of meaning, and creating of meaning; and also matrix, model, and variants are found as the structure of meaning construction in the poem, as well as hypogram related to religious values and German Romantic tradition.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 12 Bukit Cangang, Bukittinggi City. These problems are caused by the learning process remains teacher-centered, relies heavily on lecture-based methods, and shows minimal active student participation in classroom activities, resulting in low learning outcomes across three aspects: attitudes, knowledge, and skills. The purpose of this study is to describe the improvement in student learning outcomes through the application of the Role Playing model in fifth-grade Pancasila Education at SDN 12 Bukit Cangang, Bukittinggi City, covering aspects of teaching module design, learning implementation, and student learning outcomes. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. It was carried out over two cycles, where the first cycle included two meetings and the second cycle consisted of one meeting, in the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The research subjects were 17 fifth-grade students at SDN 12 Bukit Cangang. Data were gathered through observation, tests, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using descriptive methods. The results showed significant improvements in all observed aspects. The design of The teaching module improved from 83.3% (Good) in Cycle I, Meeting I, to 95.8% (Very Good) in Cycle II. Teacher performance rose from 77.2% (Fair) to 95.4% (Very Good), while student participation increased from 75% (Fair) to 95.4% (Very Good). Learning outcomes in the attitude aspect increased from an average of 71.69 to 83.45, knowledge from 65.88 to 90, and skills from 74.26 to 91.17, with 100% completion across all three aspects in Cycle II.Based on these results, It can be concluded that the consistent and effective application of the Role Playing model is able to comprehensively enhance students’ learning outcomes in Pancasila Education for fifth-grade students at SDN 12 Bukit Cangang, Bukittinggi City.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ reading comprehension skills, describe students’ descriptive text writing skills, and analyze the correlation between reading comprehension skills and descriptive text writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Padang. This research is a quantitative study using a correlational method. The population consisted of all seventh-grade students, and the sample was selected using purposive sampling. The data were collected through an objective test to measure reading comprehension skills and a performance test to measure descriptive text writing skills. The results showed that students’ reading comprehension skills were in the “more than adequate” category with an average score of 74.50, while their descriptive text writing skills were in the “good” category with an average score of 77.87. The result of the product moment correlation test indicated a significant relationship between reading comprehension skills and descriptive text writing skills, with rcount greater than rtable (0.978 > 0.215). The t-test result also showed that tcount was greater than ttable (42.08 > 1.67), meaning that the hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, the higher the students’ reading comprehension skills, the higher their descriptive text writing skills.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the phenomenon of Ramadan fasting among the public and the factors influencing it. Ramadan fasting is obligatory for every Muslim who is physically and religiously able. However, in practice, some people still do not fully observe the fast. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through interviews with several informants from diverse social backgrounds, such as daily laborers, farmers, the elderly, and adolescents. The results show that fasting is influenced by various factors, including economic conditions, the type of heavy work, health, social environment, and level of religious understanding. Some people do not fast due to the demands of their jobs, limited knowledge of religious concepts such as sahur (pre-dawn meal), qadha (qada), and fidyah (fasting), and health conditions such as chronic illness and advanced age. On the other hand, some informants still strive to observe the fast according to their abilities. This study also found that an educational and empathetic approach to providing religious understanding can increase public awareness of fasting. Thus, the phenomenon of some people not fasting is not solely due to weak faith, but rather a result of complex social and economic conditions. Therefore, contextual and humanistic da'wah strategies are needed to improve people's understanding and practice of religion.

Abstract

The quality of the radial tire production process is a crucial factor in maintaining the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry. However, defects are still found in the radial tire production process at PT. XYZ, which affect efficiency and product quality. This study aims to analyze and propose improvements to the quality of the radial tire production process using the Six Sigma method combined with the Kaizen approach. The research method used is a quantitative approach with the stages of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC). The research data were obtained from production and defect data during the observation period. The results show that out of a total production of 98,048 units, there were 3,172 defective units, equivalent to 3.23%. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) indicates that the crease sidewall defect has the highest risk level with an RPN value of 392. Improvement proposals are formulated based on Kaizen principles, while the Control stage focuses on designing process control using P control charts and DPMO indicators. This study is expected to serve as a reference for continuous improvement in production process quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the service quality of PT Bank XYZ and to formulate continuous service improvement strategies using the SERVQUAL method and the Kaizen approach. The research employs a quantitative descriptive method, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 customers. The SERVQUAL analysis is used to measure the gap between customer perceptions and expectations across five service quality dimensions: tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. The results show that all service quality dimensions have positive gap values, indicating that the services provided have met and even exceeded customer expectations. The assurance dimension has the highest gap value (0.64), followed by reliability (0.54), empathy (0.47), tangible (0.43), and responsiveness (0.40). Although the overall service quality is considered good, there are still aspects that require improvement, particularly in service assurance and personalized attention to customers. Through the Kaizen approach, service quality improvements are carried out continuously by focusing on process enhancement and the involvement of all organizational elements. Therefore, the implementation of SERVQUAL and Kaizen is expected to help PT Bank XYZ maintain and consistently improve service quality in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Coretax implementation as a digital tax administration system in improving the quality of tax services and taxpayer compliance in Indonesia. The research employs a literature review method with a descriptive qualitative approach. The data used are secondary data obtained from scientific journals, official government reports, and publications from relevant international institutions. Data were collected through academic search engines such as Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and the official portal of the Directorate General of Taxes. The analysis technique was conducted by reviewing, comparing, and synthesizing various previous studies related to the digitalization of tax administration and the implementation of Coretax.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) in improving the quality of education based on spiritual aspects, particularly students’ responsibility and discipline at SMAS Tahfidz Al Quran Wahdah Islamiyah Anabanua. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students as research informants. The results show that the implementation of IQAS has been carried out through the PPEPP cycle (Determination, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement) in a systematic and continuous manner. At the determination stage, the school sets quality standards not only in academic aspects but also in spiritual dimensions as a distinctive characteristic of Islamic educational institutions. At the implementation stage, spiritual values are integrated into school activities such as Quran memorization programs, daily worship practices, moral habituation, and character development of students consistently. The evaluation and control stages are conducted periodically through activity monitoring and assessment of students’ attitudes. The evaluation results are then used as the basis for continuous improvement to enhance program effectiveness. Supporting factors include visionary school leadership, active teacher involvement, and a strong religious school culture. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include limited understanding of IQAS among school members and limited supporting resources. Overall, the implementation of IQAS contributes significantly to improving educational quality, both academically and spiritually, and in shaping disciplined, responsible, and morally upright students in daily life, while strengthening a sustainable and comprehensive quality culture based on Islamic values.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited use of engaging, interactive, and easily understandable learning media in mathematics instruction. It aims to examine the validity and practicality of Android-based learning media designed using the Canva application. The problems identified in this study were obtained from observations and needs analysis conducted in several elementary schools, which revealed that teachers rarely utilize technology-based learning media in the teaching process. This research employs a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of five systematic stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The data collected in this study include validation data and practicality data, obtained through validation sheets completed by material experts, language experts, and media experts, as well as questionnaires measuring the responses of teachers and students toward the developed learning media.The results of the practicality test indicate that the Canva-based learning media achieved a score of above 90%, categorized as highly practical. This demonstrates that the media is easy to use, practical, and effective in increasing students’ interest in learning during the instructional process. Therefore, it can be concluded that the development of Canva-based learning media for fourth-grade elementary school mathematics is valid and practical for use in teaching and learning activities.
