Abstract

Religious and political tensions in Indonesia have shown an increasing trend over the past decade, thereby demanding the role of religious institutions capable of functioning as conflict buffers. This article aims to critically analyze the function of pesantren in responding to religion–politics controversies through the perspective of religious moderation. The study employs a qualitative approach based on library research, utilizing content analysis techniques on authoritative works concerning religious moderation, pesantren, and religion–politics relations. The novelty of this research lies in the development of an integrative analytical framework that maps the function of pesantren not only within the educational sphere but also as a social mechanism for conflict buffering across three interconnected levels. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of pesantren as conflict buffers operates through: (1) the reproduction of inclusive religious reasoning rooted in the tradition of ikhtilaf within the study of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning); (2) the mobilization of the kiai’s charismatic authority in social de-escalation practices; and (3) the institutionalization of political neutrality through internal pesantren regulations. These findings reinforce the argument that pesantren are key actors in the architecture of religious moderation in Indonesia, while also offering a conceptual model of pesantren functions as socio-religious stabilizers within a multicultural democratic context. The implications of this study highlight the importance of strengthening the epistemic and institutional capacities of pesantren in addressing contemporary religious and political contestations.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and describe the learning style tendencies of Geography Education students in the Geology course during Spatial Problem Based Learning (SPBL) with the OPTIC-SCRAP approach. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The research sample consists of 29 undergraduate Geography Education students from the 2025 cohort, selected through purposive sampling techniques based on a spatial literacy preliminary test. Data were collected using a learning style questionnaire instrument with a Likert scale that has been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The results showed that student learning style tendencies were dominated by the auditory type at 35.86% with an average score of 84.03, followed by the visual type at 35.57% with an average score of 83.34, and the kinesthetic type at 28.57% with an average score of 66.93. Based on gender, male students showed a dominance in the auditory learning style at 36.46%, while female students were slightly more dominant in the visual learning style at 35.66%. Viewed from academic background, both Science (IPA) and Social Studies (IPS) graduates consistently showed dominance in the auditory learning style, at 36.36% for IPA and 35.75% for IPS, respectively. Overall, this research concludes that the OPTIC-SCRAP approach is very effective for students with visual and auditory learning style tendencies, because the image analysis steps and systematic discussions within it facilitate optimal information processing. However, the low proportion of kinesthetic learning styles indicates the need for strategy modifications, such as the integration of manipulative activities or more intensive field simulations, so that this approach remains inclusive and capable of providing equal learning outcomes for all learner profiles.

Abstract

The research entitled “The Effect of the Role-Playing Learning Model on Improving Students’ Conceptual Understanding of Pancasila Values in Grade II at SDK Don Bosko 4” was motivated by the low ability of Grade II students at SDK Don Bosko 4 in understanding the concept of Pancasila values. This was based on the results of a preliminary observation, which found that only 40% of students achieved the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKTP), while the remaining 60% did not. This study employed a quantitative research approach that emphasizes the analysis of numerical data obtained through statistical techniques. The sample used in this study consisted of all 20 Grade II students. There were two variables in this study, namely the role-playing model as the independent variable and conceptual understanding as the dependent variable. The data collection techniques used were tests, observation, and documentation. The data analysis techniques included normality testing and hypothesis testing. The results of the normality test showed a significance value of 0.065 for the pretest data and 0.204 for the posttest data. Meanwhile, the hypothesis test showed that the mean score of the pretest was 46.50 and the mean score of the posttest was 77.50. The increase in the mean score from pretest to posttest was 66.67%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the role-playing learning model is effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding of Pancasila values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of teacher adaptation to the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SDN Giriawas 3 and to identify the factors influencing it. The transition to the Merdeka Curriculum requires teachers to adjust their pedagogical approaches, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. This research employed a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to teachers, involving 8 respondents as the sample. The instrument used a Likert scale and was tested for validity and reliability, resulting in 16 valid items with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.936, indicating a high level of reliability. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, including mean, minimum, maximum, and standard deviation. The results indicate that the average score of teacher adaptation is 68.6, which falls into the high category. However, the indicators related to change characteristics and individual teacher capacity remain very low, while school leadership and collaborative culture are categorized as high and very high. These findings suggest that external factors play a more dominant role than internal factors in supporting teacher adaptation. Therefore, continuous professional development programs are necessary to enhance teacher competence and optimize the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between numeracy skills and mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade elementary school students in Susukan Village on the topic of multiplication and division of whole numbers. The problem identified in this study is the suboptimal mathematics learning outcomes of students, particularly in arithmetic operations, as well as a lack of research specifically examining numeracy skills at the fourth-grade level. This study employed a quantitative correlational approach. The population consisted of all fourth-grade students from three elementary schools in Susukan Village, with a total sample of 90 students selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using a numeracy skills test in the form of contextual essay questions based on Polya's problem-solving stages, and a mathematics learning outcomes test in short-answer format. Both instruments were validated through expert judgment and Pearson Product Moment correlation, and reliability was assessed using Cronbach's Alpha. Normality testing using Kolmogorov-Smirnov showed that the data were not normally distributed (p < 0.05), so hypothesis testing was conducted using Spearman’s rho non-parametric correlation. The results showed a Spearman’s rho coefficient of 0.213 with a significance value of 0.044 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant positive relationship between numeracy skills and mathematics learning outcomes. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.045) revealed that numeracy skills contributed 4.5% to the variance in mathematics learning outcomes, while the remaining 95.5% was influenced by other external factors.

Abstract

Directive speech acts are closely linked to teachers’ professional competence because, in the learning process, teachers’ language skills significantly influence the effectiveness of classroom communication. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of directive speech acts and the speaking strategies of Indonesian language teachers in the learning process. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. The results of the study indicate that teachers use five forms of directive speech acts: asking, commanding, requesting, suggesting, and challenging. Of these five forms of directive speech acts, the one most frequently used by teachers is asking, with 84 instances of speech. In addition, this study also examined the speech strategies used by teachers during instruction; the dominant strategy used by teachers was the “Straightforward Speech Without Small Talk” (BTTB) strategy, which was found in 49 speech data points. Thus, it can be concluded that Indonesian language teachers in Grade 8 at SMPN 1 Tanjung Raya use five types of directive speech acts and four speech strategies in Indonesian language instruction.

Abstract

When false claims spread faster than the corrections meant to counter them, societies face a genuine crisis of credibility. This study responds to the proliferation of hoax content across Indonesia's three dominant platforms TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter/X and its concrete effects on public confidence in key institutions. Employing descriptive qualitative methods and content analysis on 20 verified hoax posts from January 2025 to March 2026, the research identifies three distinct diffusion patterns: staged-exponential spread, cross-platform replication, and the recontextualization of authentic content. Health-themed hoaxes prove most prevalent (35%), followed by politically framed content (25%). The consequences reach beyond mere misinformation: measurable declines in public trust toward government bodies, medical professionals, and legacy media are documented. Viewed through the lens of Islamic Communication Studies, the tabayyun principle is reframed not simply as an ethical recommendation but as a contextually relevant cognitive protection mechanism for Indonesia's Muslim majority. The study's novelty lies in synthesizing technical-digital, social-institutional, and Islamic-ethical dimensions within a single analytical framework.
