Abstract

This research is motivated by the low short story writing skills of tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Kartasura, caused by difficulties in designing coherent plots and developing characters. The aim of this study is to describe the relationship between the mastery of intrinsic elements and short story writing skills. This study employed a quantitative correlational method with a sample of 72 students selected through cluster random sampling. Data collection techniques included an objective test to measure the mastery of intrinsic elements and a product test to measure short story writing skills. The research instruments underwent validity and reliability testing, yielding a KR-20 coefficient of 0.939 for variable X and a ratings reliability of 0.97 for variable Y. The results showed a positive and significant correlation between the mastery of intrinsic elements and short story writing skills, with a correlation coefficient () of 0.624 and a significance of . The mastery of intrinsic elements contributes 38.9% to the variation in students' short story writing skills. This proves that theoretical understanding of story-building elements serves as an essential foundation for producing high-quality narrative works at the high school level.

Abstract

The history of Christian evangelization in Flores, particularly in Lembata and Solor, reveals that local languages play a crucial role as tools of communication and faith inculturation. Early missionaries recognized that using indigenous languages was essential for making the Gospel understandable and acceptable to communities with existing belief systems and religious traditions. Through local languages, the message of faith was not only conveyed informatively but also connected deeply with the cultural context and lived experiences of the people. This study aims to examine the role of local languages in early missionary work and their relevance in contemporary Church life. It employs a qualitative method with a literature review and historical analysis approach. The findings show that local languages function as cultural identity markers, means of social interaction, and media for religious experience. Language serves not merely as a communication tool but also as a bridge linking humans to their faith experiences and relationship with God. Therefore, preserving local languages in Church practices such as prayer, catechesis, and liturgy is essential to strengthen the faith identity of believers amid the challenges of modernization.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the social skills of children aged 4-5 years through the implementation of the cooperative play method. The research employed a mixed-method approach (qualitative and quantitative) using Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on Kurt Lewin’s model, conducted in two cycles. The subjects were 15 children in Group A at TK Kemala Bhayangkari 55 Surakarta in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed a significant improvement in children’s social skills after the implementation of cooperative play. In the pre-cycle stage, most children were in the undeveloped category (40%). In Cycle I, improvement began to appear but was not yet optimal, with 40% achieving good and very good categories. After improvements in Cycle II, the percentage increased to 80%, meeting the success criteria. The improvement was evident in children’s abilities to cooperate, communicate, share, take turns, and follow rules. Therefore, the cooperative play method is proven effective in enhancing early childhood social skills through collaborative and interactive play activities.

Abstract

This study analyzes adab as a philosophical foundation for developing intellectual intelligence in elementary school students. Using a systematic literature review method, this study examines 31 scientific articles relevant to the themes of adab, intellectual intelligence, and elementary education. The findings show that adab, as conceptualized by Al-Attas, Al-Ghazali, and Wan Mohd. Nor Wan Daud, constitutes an epistemological condition that determines a student's readiness to receive and internalize knowledge. In the context of elementary school students in the concrete operational stage (ages 6-12), early cultivation of adab significantly impacts the quality of learning processes and outcomes. Pedagogical implications affirm the urgency of holistic adab integration in curriculum, teaching practices, and school culture.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the learning outcomes of students before and after the application of a simple water wheel media and to analyze the improvement in learning outcomes in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject of grade VI of SDN No. 228 Tunreng Tellue. The background of this study is based on the low learning outcomes of students caused by conventional learning and the lack of use of interesting learning media. Therefore, learning innovations are needed that can increase student engagement and understanding. The type of research used is a pre-experiment with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The research subjects were 16 students who were taken using a saturated sampling technique. The instruments used were learning outcome tests, observation sheets, and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to see the picture of learning outcomes and the N-Gain test to determine the improvement in student learning outcomes. The results showed that the average pretest score of 73.75 was in the medium category, which indicates that students' initial abilities were still not optimal. After the application of the simple water wheel media, the average posttest score increased to 88.62 and was in the high category. The N-Gain test results showed an average score of 0.58, which falls into the moderate category, indicating an improvement in learning outcomes after the implementation of the media. Furthermore, the distribution of scores showed an increase in the number of students in the high and very high categories, with no more students in the low and very low categories after implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using interactive learning media on the learning interest of fifth-grade students at SD Inpres Tinggimae. This study employs a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were all fifth-grade students in a single class, selected using total sampling. Data collection techniques included a learning interest questionnaire administered before (pretest) and after the intervention (posttest), supplemented by observation and documentation. The research instruments were first tested for validity and reliability, with results indicating the instruments were valid (r = 0.581; p = 0.004) and reliable (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.860). Data analysis was conducted using the JASP software through normality tests and hypothesis testing. The results of the Shapiro–Wilk normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed (p = 0.049), so the analysis proceeded using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance level of p = 0.002 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference in students’ learning interest before and after the use of interactive learning media. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of interactive learning media has a significant effect on students’ interest in learning. Interactive learning media has been shown to create a more engaging and interactive learning environment that actively involves students. Therefore, it can serve as an innovative and effective alternative learning strategy to enhance students’ interest in learning in elementary school.

Abstract

The study showed that the average pretest score of 33.33 was in the low category, while the average posttest score of 75.00 was in the high category. The results of the normality test showed that the data were normally distributed and the homogeneity test showed that the data variance was homogeneous. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, a significance value (Sig 2-tailed) <0.05 was obtained, so the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted. This shows that there is a significant influence of the use of the Lattice Multiplication method on improving students' mathematics learning outcomes. Thus, the Lattice Multiplication method has been proven effective in improving students' mathematics learning outcomes, both in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, especially in the material of multiplication arithmetic operations.

Abstract

The use of digital technology in learning in elementary schools is now an urgent need to answer literacy challenges, especially in the field of literature. This study aims to examine the potential and effectiveness of the use of Canva-based interactive learning media in improving the literary literacy of elementary school students. The research method used is literature review. Data was collected through a search of scientific articles, books, and related documents from digital databases such as Google Scholar and Mendeley with a publication time span of 2021-2026. The data analysis method is carried out through literature review through the stages of data collection, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the literature review show that Canva has an inclusive design feature that is able to turn abstract literary material into concrete visualizations to be presented via a smartboard. A synthesis of various studies shows that Canva's integrated integration with touch features on smartboards in literary learning can significantly improve students' reading comprehension, narrative comprehension, and creativity. The conclusion of this study confirms that the use of Canva-based interactive media displayed on a smartboard is an innovative solution that is relevant to strengthen the foundation of literary literacy at the elementary school level through direct interaction between students and technology in the digital age.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low science learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SD Bawakaraeng 1, particularly on plant parts material which is often presented textually without engaging physical media. This study aims to analyze the effect of using physical learning media on student learning outcomes in that topic. The method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest Design involving 23 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through test instruments (pretest and posttest) and analyzed using the paired sample t-test. The results showed an increase in the mean score from 51.52 to 70.43. A significance value of p<0.001 (p<0.05) indicates that the use of physical media has a significant impact on student achievement. This study concludes that integrating learning media in the form of teaching aids is effective in transforming abstract biological concepts into more concrete ones for elementary students. It is recommended that teachers utilize local teaching aids to support more interactive and contextual science learning.

Abstract

This study addresses the low science achievement of third-grade students at SDN 21 Bandar Buat, which is associated with a largely teacher-centered instructional approach, limited student engagement, and the inadequate use of observation and experimental activities in the learning process. These conditions result in students being passive, less confident in asking questions, and struggling to understand concepts independently, which in turn leads to unsatisfactory learning outcomes and insufficient development of critical thinking skills. Moreover, classroom practices have not been fully aligned with the expectations of the Independent Curriculum. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the improvement of student learning outcomes on the topic of changes in the states of matter through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model in a third-grade classroom. This study employs a Classroom Action Research design, integrating both qualitative and quantitative approaches, and is conducted in two cycles. The first cycle consists of two meetings, while the second cycle includes one meeting, following stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research instruments include observation sheets for lesson planning (RPPM), teacher and student activities, as well as assessment rubrics covering attitudes, knowledge, and skills. The participants consist of one teacher and 24 students. The results reveal consistent improvements in all observed aspects, including lesson planning, teacher and student activities, and overall learning outcomes, confirming the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model.
