Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between social competence, professional competence, and the performance of elementary school teachers in Cina District, Bone Regency. The suboptimal performance of teachers in implementing learning remains a phenomenon in elementary schools. Teachers are expected to improve their abilities in carrying out learning tasks, building effective communication and collaboration within the school environment, and developing the competencies required of professional educators. Therefore, this issue needs to be examined scientifically. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population consisted of all certified teachers, including classroom teachers and subject teachers, totaling 62 teachers. The sample comprised all members of the population selected using total sampling (sensus sampling). Data on teachers’ social competence and professional competence were collected through questionnaires, while teacher performance data were obtained from the documentation of Teacher Performance Assessment (PKG) results available in schools. The findings indicate that teachers’ social competence and professional competence were categorized as very high, while teacher performance was categorized as high. In addition, there was a positive relationship between social competence and teacher performance, between professional competence and teacher performance, and simultaneously between social competence, professional competence, and teacher performance. The study concludes that teacher performance is related to teachers’ social competence and professional competence. Social competence supports effective interaction, communication, and collaboration with students, colleagues, and parents, thereby creating a conducive working environment. Meanwhile, professional competence strengthens teachers’ ability to master learning materials, understand students’ characteristics, and manage the learning process in a planned and systematic manner. Therefore, both competencies are important factors associated with improving teacher performance.

Abstract

Cognitive development in early childhood should ideally be stimulated through play activities, exploration, and direct experiences that are aligned with developmental stages. However, in practice, differences in understanding between schools and parents are still found, particularly in interpreting children’s learning success, which is often associated with early reading, writing, and numeracy skills. This condition has the potential to create inconsistencies in learning stimulation between home and school environments. This study aims to describe parents’ perceptions of the cognitive learning process of children aged 4–5 years at Al Hidayah Panggungrejo Kindergarten. The study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach involving 9 parents and 1 class teacher of group A2 as research subjects. Data were gathered via participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed interactively through data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that parents’ perceptions of cognitive learning tend to fall into two main directions. Some parents understand that children’s cognitive development grows through play activities, exploration, and concrete experiences. Meanwhile, others still assess learning success based on academic achievement and encourage children to take additional exercises or tutoring. This study concludes that parents’ perceptions are in a transitional stage toward a better alignment with early childhood education principles. Strengthening communication and collaboration between schools and families is necessary to ensure that cognitive stimulation develops in a consistent and optimal way.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate English students’ strategies in answering TOEFL Listening Comprehension questions at the University of Mataram. This research employed a qualitative approach with purposive sampling, involving three students of the English Education Program who achieved a minimum listening score of 50. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and supported by documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that students encountered various difficulties, including linguistic factors (fast speech, accent variation, and intonation), cognitive factors (difficulty maintaining concentration), limited vocabulary, challenges in interpreting implied meaning, external factors (noise and poor audio quality), and affective factors (anxiety and lack of confidence). To overcome these difficulties, students applied several strategies, such as focusing on main ideas and keywords, using prediction, visualization, paraphrasing, and note-taking, as well as engaging in self-directed practice through online resources. The findings also indicate that students combined strategies recommended by ETS with their personal learning approaches. The selection of these strategies was influenced by the need to manage fast speech, reduce cognitive load, enhance memory retention, minimize confusion in answering questions, and increase exposure to listening materials. Overall, students’ strategy use was adaptive and shaped by their learning experiences and perceived effectiveness.

Abstract

This study discusses the problem of low student learning outcomes in the subject of Civic Education (PPKn), especially on the topic of cultural diversity in Indonesia, which is caused by teacher-centered learning strategies that do not accommodate diverse student learning styles. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of content differentiation learning on the learning outcomes of fourth grade students at SD GMIT No. 7 Oebufu, Kupang City. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest design of a non-equivalent control group. The sample consisted of 34 fourth-graders who were divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through observation, testing, and documentation, and analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and independent sample t-tests. The results showed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, with the average score increasing from 65.29 in the control class to 88.53 in the experimental class. The results of the independent sample t-test showed significant differences between the two groups (sig. 0.000 < 0.05). It can be concluded that content differentiation learning has a significant positive influence on student learning outcomes in the subject of Citizenship, especially on the topic of cultural diversity. Therefore, this approach is recommended to create a more inclusive, student-centered, and effective learning environment. Abstract

This research is motivated by the suboptimal quality of planning and implementation of Pancasila Education learning, as well as the limited innovative and contextual learning media. Learning is still dominated by lecture methods and the use of conventional media, so that students are less active, easily bored, and have difficulty understanding abstract concepts. This study aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective animated video based on Problem Based Learning in the Pancasila Education subject for third-grade elementary school students in Solok City. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The developed media was validated by material experts, media experts, and language experts, then tested and implemented to determine the level of practicality and effectiveness. Practicality was measured through teacher and student response questionnaires, while effectiveness was measured through protests and posttests. This research was conducted at SDN 09 PPA as a trial school, SDN 02 Aro IV Korong and SDN 03 Kampung Jawa as implementation schools. The results of the study showed that the animated video obtained a validity of 93% (very valid). Practicality at the trial stage obtained 100% (teachers) and 87.05% (students) in the practical category with an N-Gain of 84.98% (high). At the implementation stage, the practicality was 95% (teachers) and 80.21% (students) in the practical category with an N-Gain of 94.8% (high) at SDN 02 Aro IV Korong and 100% (teachers) and 92.86% (students) in the practical category with an N-Gain of 76.9% (high). Thus, the animated video based on Problem Based Learning is proven to be valid, practical, and effective for use in the Pancasila Education subject for grade III Elementary School students in Solok City.
