Abstract

This research aims to identify and describe the forms and meanings of symbols embedded in the traditional expressions of the Vau ritual from an ethnolinguistic perspective. A descriptive qualitative method was employed in this study. The research data consist of traditional expressions, which were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation techniques. The results demonstrate that these traditional expressions are structured across several main stages: Wasar (the proposal), Hurak (determining the wedding day), Iyak sit yahau lilan (the exchange of rings), as well as the stages of handing over heirloom dowries (Lela, Mariyam, Gong) and the logistics distribution rite (bawiyar ai). Semiotically, the use of metaphors such as "house flower" (bung funn) represents the purity and dignity of women. Meanwhile, the defensive rhetoric employed during intense dowry negotiations successfully deconstructs material values into a humanist compromise rooted in kinship. The climax of this procession features the chanting of ritual songs (Wiran sowo lar naba wo / Im wo am wo), which functions to dissolve clan differentiation and dismantle social barriers, merging them into a single historical lineage of shared ancestry. This study concludes that the entire formulation of these traditional speeches operates as a robust collective "oral archive" that prioritizes human values.

Abstract

The low reading interest and literacy skills of students in Indonesia are a serious challenge in contemporary education. As a structural solution, the Government launched the School Literacy Movement (GLS), one of whose main pillars is a 15-minute reading program before class begins. This study aims to analyze the implementation, effectiveness, obstacles, and impact of the 15-minute reading activity on strengthening students' literacy culture and reading interest based on a literature review. The research method used is a literature review by collecting, reducing, analyzing, and synthesizing relevant scientific journal articles from the Google Scholar database. The results of the study indicate that the consistent implementation of 15-minute reading is able to stimulate reading habits, improve vocabulary mastery, and foster students' intrinsic reading interest. However, the success of this program is greatly influenced by the availability of varied reading books (non-textbooks), the active role of teachers as role models, and the creation of a literacy-rich school environment (literate environment). The main obstacles found include student boredom due to monotonous post-reading activities and limited reading corner facilities. This study concludes that the 15-minute reading activity effectively becomes the foundation of a school literacy culture if supported by adaptive and collaborative program management.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the unique approach implemented at SMP Negeri 2 Padang Panjang in the use of mosaic techniques with synthetic materials for teaching two-dimensional art. This approach stands out because it differs from common practices at other schools, which tend to favor conventional drawing techniques or the use of natural materials. This study was conducted with the aim of describing in detail the learning process of two-dimensional art using the mosaic method based on artificial materials, as well as its impact on eighth-grade students in Class VIII D at the school. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study design as its methodological framework. Data collection was carried out through several techniques, including direct field observations, in-depth interviews using a semi-structured questionnaire, documentation of learning activities, and a review of relevant literature. The research subjects consisted of 22 eighth-grade students in Class D, while supporting informants included the school principal, the art and culture teacher, and a number of students selected purposively. Learning activities were organized into three main phases: introductory activities, core activities, and concluding activities. The eighth-grade D students actively built their understanding through a series of practical activities, including creating initial sketches, cutting materials, and attaching heart-shaped foam pieces used as craft materials. The assessment results for the 12 groups’ projects showed an average score of 84.09, earning a B (Good) grade. More specifically, 4 groups achieved an A (Excellent) grade, 4 groups received a B (Good) grade, and the remaining 4 groups received a C (Fair) grade. Learning using this method has proven effective in comprehensively enhancing the creativity, fine motor skills, and aesthetic sensitivity of the eighth-grade D students

Abstract

Passing skills are one of the basic techniques that are very crucial in the game of futsal. Based on observations on futsal extracurricular activities at Palebon 01 State Elementary School, Semarang City, students' passing ability still does not reach the optimal level, which can be seen from the low level of passing accuracy and the lack of variety in the exercises given. This study aims to examine the impact of smart zone futsal game innovations on the passing ability of futsal extracurricular students in elementary schools. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with the experimental method and the One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sample of this study consisted of 20 students from futsal extracurriculars for grades III, IV, and V who were selected using the purposive sampling technique. The measuring tool used in this study is the Wall Pass Test which has been validated through expert assessment by PJOK teachers and futsal coaches. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and Paired Sample t-Test with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics. The results showed that the average passing score of students increased from 8.80 in the pretest to 12.85 in the posttest. The normality test showed that the data was distributed normally (Sig. > 0.05), while the results of the Paired Sample t-Test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings show that the innovation of the Smart Zone futsal game has a significant influence on the passing ability of students in the futsal extracurricular of SD Negeri Palebon 01 Semarang City. Thus, the Smart Zone futsal game can function as an alternative effective and fun training model to develop the passing skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the efforts made by parents in shaping the moral character of their children at MAN 1 Tebo, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing this process. Moral development is one of the primary responsibilities of parents as the first and foremost educators within the family. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving parents, students, and school personnel. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that parents play a significant role in shaping their children's moral character through several efforts, including providing positive role models, instilling good habits, giving advice and guidance, supervising children's social interactions, and fostering religious values in daily life. Supporting factors include strong cooperation between parents and the school, a religious family environment, and students’ awareness of applying moral values in their daily behavior. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors consist of negative peer influence, uncontrolled use of social media, and limited parental time for supervision and guidance. Therefore, the successful development of children's moral character requires collaboration among parents, schools, and the wider community.         Keywords: Parents’ Efforts, Moral Character Development, Children, Family Education, MAN 1 Tebo.
