Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of implementing the Cooperative Learning model Type Teams Games Tournament in improving the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Malang in Social Studies subjects. This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes and lack of active student engagement in the Social Studies learning process. This model is a strategy that can be used to enhance student participation in the classroom through educational games and intergroup competition activities. This research uses a Classroom Action Research (PTK) approach carried out in two cycles, each consisting of the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 32 eighth-grade students. The research instruments used were learning outcome tests, observation sheets, questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament model was able to improve student learning outcomes. The class average score increased from 75.48 (classical mastery 48.39%) to 84.69 in cycle I, and also increased to 91.25 in cycle II with a classical mastery level of 100%. Students’ affective attitudes also increased to the good category with responsibility and teamwork indicators being the most prominent. Student responses through the questionnaire reinforced that the Teams Games Tournament model made learning more enjoyable and active. Thus, the cooperative learning model Type Teams Games Tournament has been proven effective in improving both cognitive and affective learning outcomes in Social Studies, and based on these results, Social Studies teachers are advised to consider the Teams Games Tournament learning model as an alternative in designing interactive lesson plans.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the expenditure structure of The Islamic Schools of Victoria (Al-Taqwa College) in 2024. Educational expenditure is an important aspect of financial management because it reflects institutional priorities in allocating resources to support the achievement of educational goals. This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from the Audited Financial Report Year Ended 31 December 2024 of The Islamic Schools of Victoria. Data were analyzed through identification of the proportion of each expenditure component to total expenditure. The findings reveal that personnel expenses constituted the largest expenditure component, amounting to AUD 33,634,978 or 68.25% of total expenditure, followed by depreciation and amortization expenses amounting to AUD 8,299,363 or 16.84%, educational expenses amounting to AUD 1,973,798 (4.01%), property expenses amounting to AUD 1,717,353 (3.48%), finance cost amounting to AUD 654,012 (1.33%), and other expenses amounting to AUD 2,997,902 (6.09%). The expenditure pattern indicates that the institution prioritizes human resource development and maintenance of educational assets as the main strategy in supporting the quality of educational services. This expenditure structure reflects the institution's commitment to long-term investment in educators and learning facilities.

Abstract

Vocabulary retention remains a significant challenge in learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL), especially in settings with limited language exposure. Conventional teaching methods are often less interactive and less effective at supporting long-term vocabulary retention. This study aims to determine the effect of Augmented Reality (AR) learning media integrated with Assemblr Edu on the vocabulary retention of EFL students at SMPN 1 Terara. This study used a one group pre-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test involving 30 eighth-grade students selected through cluster random sampling. Data were collected using a vocabulary retention test consisting of 20 items and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk normality tests, a paired t-test, and Normalized Gain (N-Gain). The results showed that the students’ average score increased from 66.67 on the pre-test to 80.83 on the post-test, with an average difference of 14.17 points. The paired-sample t-test yielded a t-value (29) of 14.167, p = 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores, thereby rejecting the null hypothesis (H₀) and confirming the alternative hypothesis (H₁). The N-Gain analysis yielded an average score of 42.38% (medium category). These findings indicate that AR media integrated with Assemblr Edu is quite effective in improving EFL students’ vocabulary retention through interactive, contextual, and immersive learning experiences. Keywords: Augmented Reality, Assemblr Edu, EFL, Vocabulary Retention, Pre-Experimental.

Abstract

This study was conducted based on the problem of poor student activity, cooperation abilities, critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and learning outcomes in Indonesian language acquisition. These conditions were produced by inadequate student participation in the learning process, poor adoption of novel learning models, and the suboptimal use of interactive learning resources. The study used the PEDULI learning approach, which is backed by Quizizz media, to solve these issues. 26 fifth-grade students from SDN Pangeran 1 Banjarmasin participated in three sessions of Classroom Action Research (CAR) during the second semester of the 2025–2026 school year. Observations of student and teacher activities, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, and learning outcomes were used to gather data. The results demonstrated a gradual improvement in all observed aspects at each meeting. Teacher activities rose from 46% to 96%, student activities from 46% to 92%, cooperation skills from 42% to 88%, critical thinking skills from 38% to 88%, problem-solving abilities from 42% to 92%, and learning outcomes from 46% to 92%. These findings indicate that the PEDULI learning model supplemented by Quizizz media effectively increased the quality of the learning process and students’ learning outcomes in Indonesian language acquisition.

Abstract

This study aims to improve fifth-grade students’ learning interest toward local wisdom through the use of Big Book media based on traditional games in the “My Cultural Diversity” material at SDN Pisangcandi 4 Malang City. The ideal learning process in elementary school should be interactive, enjoyable, and able to connect students with their social and cultural environment. However, classroom observations showed low student enthusiasm, limited participation, and weak interest during cultural diversity lessons. This Classroom Action Research employed the Kemmis and McTaggart model in two cycles involving 24 fifth-grade students. In Cycle I, learning used A3-sized Big Book and traditional games conducted inside the classroom and front terrace, including can-knocking, marbles, hopscotch, dakon, jump rope, and bekel. Limitations in space and media visibility reduced learning effectiveness. In Cycle II, improvements were made using an E-Big Book displayed digitally and wider outdoor learning space with an additional traditional game, musical chairs. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Results showed a significant increase in students’ learning interest from 63.54% in Cycle I (moderate category) to 91.25% in Cycle II (very high category). The study concludes that Big Book media integrated with traditional games effectively improves students’ learning interest toward local wisdom learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by students' low ability to write anecdotal texts, particularly in developing creative, critical, and contextual ideas related to social phenomena. Furthermore, learning remains conventional. Therefore, learning tools are needed that support meaningful, conscious, and enjoyable learning, in accordance with the characteristics of vocational high school students. This study aims to describe the development, practicality, and effectiveness of an In-Depth Learning Plan (RPM) for writing anecdotal texts in comic form using Canva. This study used the Borg and Gall Research and Development (R&D) model, modified into seven stages: needs analysis, planning, design, validation, revision, trial, and final product. The study subjects consisted of 35 grade 10 students of the KKB SMK Teknik Pal Surabaya in the 2025/2026 academic year, an Indonesian language teacher as the user of the RPM product, and a validator who was a material/learning expert. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, documentation, and learning outcome tests, which were analyzed descriptively using qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed that the developed RPM met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Validation by material/learning experts resulted in a score of 85% and validation by teacher users at 84%, categorized as very feasible. The practicality of the RPM, based on teacher responses, reached 98% (very practical), while student responses indicated that 25 students (65.71%) stated it was very practical and 12 students (34.29%) stated it was practical. The effectiveness of the RPM, based on student learning completion, was 97.14% with an average score of 82.77, and the anecdotal comic product was categorized as good to very good. Therefore, the RPM, which uses Canva to write anecdotal comics, is suitable for use in Indonesian language learning for 10th grade vocational high schools.
