Abstract

This research is motivated by the low effective learning skills of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Banjarmasin. Most students still use monotonous learning methods, have difficulty noting important points, organizing information systematically, and have sub-optimal learning motivation. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Mind Mapping technique in guidance and counseling services in the field of learning and to improve the effective learning skills of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Banjarmasin. This study uses the Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK) method carried out collaboratively and participatively in three cycles, including the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 6 grade VIII students. Data collection techniques used observations, learning skills questionnaires, and documentation analyzed descriptively and comparatively. The results showed a significant increase in each cycle. In the pre-cycle, students did not have sufficient understanding of effective learning strategies. After cycle I, students began to show enthusiasm and the ability to make simple mind maps. In cycle II, active student participation increased significantly through group discussions and case cards. In cycle III, students successfully perfected the Masterpiece Mind Map independently, integrating keywords, symbols, and color codes. The average percentage of effective learning skills increased from 59.5% (Moderate category) in the first meeting to 80.8% (High category) in the second meeting, an increase of 21.3%. The application of the Mind Mapping technique in guidance and counseling services in the field of learning can help improve students' effective learning skills gradually and sustainably.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of star sticker rewards on the reading learning motivation of third-grade students at SD IT Harapan Islami Talun Kenas. The study was motivated by the low level of students' reading motivation, as indicated by their lack of interest, attention, and active participation during reading lessons. This research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational design. The participants consisted of all 29 third-grade students of SD IT Harapan Islami Talun Kenas, who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using the Product Moment correlation test and the t-test. The findings revealed that the students' reading learning motivation was in the high category. Furthermore, there was a positive, very strong, and significant relationship between the use of star sticker rewards and students' reading learning motivation. This was indicated by the calculated t value of 10.583, which was higher than the t table value of 2.052, a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, and a regression coefficient of 0.946. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted, while the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected. It can be concluded that the better the implementation of star sticker rewards, the higher the reading learning motivation of third-grade students at SD IT Harapan Islami Talun Kenas.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the differences in students’ Economics learning outcomes based on learning models, learning interest, and the interaction between the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Wayground media and learning interest among tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Medan in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study employed a quasi-experimental method using a Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design with a 2 × 2 factorial design. The population consisted of 426 students, while the sample comprised 69 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a learning achievement test and a learning interest questionnaire, then analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by a Two-Way Analysis of Variance (Two-Way ANOVA). The findings revealed a significant difference in Economics learning outcomes between students taught using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Wayground media and those taught using the Discovery Learning model (Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). In contrast, no significant differences were found in learning outcomes based on students’ learning interest (Sig. = 0.980 > 0.05), nor was there a significant interaction between the learning model and learning interest on students’ Economics learning outcomes (Sig. = 0.619 > 0.05). Therefore, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Wayground media resulted in better Economics learning outcomes than the Discovery Learning model, while learning interest and its interaction with the learning model did not significantly differentiate students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the distribution of cognitive levels of questions in the reading, observing, listening, discussing, and writing activities of the Indonesian Language textbook for the Merdeka Curriculum, 2023 Revised Edition, Grade VII of Junior High School, based on Anderson and Krathwohl's Revised Bloom's Taxonomy. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach through document analysis. The data consisted of 176 questions spread across six chapters of the textbook, collected through reading, listening, and note-taking techniques, and analyzed following the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña (2014), covering data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The percentage of each cognitive level was calculated using Sudijono's formula. The results show that all six cognitive levels appear in the textbook, with C2 (Understanding) as the most dominant level (54 questions, 30.68%), followed by C5 (Evaluating) at 17.61%, C4 (Analyzing) at 16.48%, C1 (Remembering) at 14.20%, C6 (Creating) at 11.93%, and C3 (Applying) at 9.09%. The reading activity contains the most questions (92 items) and the most complete cognitive variation, while the writing activity is dominated by C6 (Creating). These findings indicate that the textbook has accommodated the development of students' thinking skills from lower-order to higher-order thinking, in line with the objectives of the Merdeka Curriculum, although the distribution across cognitive levels remains uneven.

Abstract

This thesis aims to determine the effect of implementing the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) learning model on student engagement and learning in the Akidah Akhlak course for eighth-grade students at State Madrasah Tsanawiyah 5 in Jambi City. The rationale behind this study is the monotonous nature of instruction, which has led to a lack of student engagement in the Akidah Akhlak course. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of two classes—an experimental class and a control class—each comprising 31 students. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, a pre-test, and a post-test. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, an Independent Samples t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the significance value of the Independent Samples t-test was 0.003 (<0.05), indicating a significant effect of the STAD learning model on student learning outcomes. Furthermore, the average N-Gain for the experimental class was 0.7401 (74.01%), which was higher than that of the control class at 68.00%. Thus, the STAD learning model proved effective in increasing student engagement in learning. Keywords: STAD Learning Model, Student Engagement, Learning Outcomes, Faith and Morals

Abstract

The development of digital technology in the Industry 4.0 era has transformed communication patterns in education, including interactions between teachers and students through digital platforms. This transformation requires the application of communication ethics that not only support learning effectiveness but also ensure the protection and character development of students. This study aims to analyze the principles of teachers’ communication ethics in digital platforms, their contribution to student protection, and their role in character building. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach. The data were obtained from various secondary sources such as scientific journals, books, and educational policy documents, and were analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results indicate that teachers’ communication ethics in digital platforms are essential in maintaining professionalism. Principles such as responsibility, privacy protection, respectful communication, and the wise use of digital media play a significant role in protecting students from negative impacts. Furthermore, ethical communication supports character development through role modeling and the habituation of moral values. Therefore, a comprehensive digital code of ethics for teachers is needed to support safe, integrity-based, and character-oriented educational practices

Abstract

Physical fitness is an important component in supporting physical development and the success of Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning in elementary schools. Information regarding the profile of arm muscle strength and abdominal muscle endurance among elementary school students is needed as a basis for learning evaluation and reflection within the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG). This study aimed to analyze the profile of arm muscle strength and abdominal muscle endurance of third-grade elementary school students using selected items from the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI). This research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey method. The participants consisted of 28 third-grade students of SDN Percobaan 1 Malang City selected through a total sampling technique. The research instruments were selected TKJI items, namely the flexed-arm hang test to measure arm muscle strength and endurance and the sit-up test to measure abdominal muscle endurance. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics through percentage calculations and categorization of test results. The findings indicated that the students’ physical fitness profile generally ranged from good to moderate categories. The distribution of results showed that 24.14% of students were in the very good category, 36.21% in the good category, 29.31% in the moderate category, and 10.34% in the poor category, while no students were classified in the very poor category. In the sit-up test, 34.48% of students were categorized as very good, 48.28% as good, 13.79% as moderate, and 3.45% as poor. Meanwhile, in the flexed-arm hang test, 13.79% of students were categorized as very good, 24.14% as good, 44.83% as moderate, and 17.24% as poor. These findings indicate that abdominal muscle endurance was better developed than arm muscle strength. Therefore, physical fitness assessment results can be utilized as a basis for pedagogical reflection in designing PJOK learning activities that are more responsive to students’ needs within the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG).

Abstract

The widespread use of social media among Indonesian adolescents raises serious concerns about the weakening of moral and social ethical values among the younger generation. This study aims to analyze the influence of social media on the decline of adolescent morality and Islamic character, while formulating relevant preventive solutions. A mixed methods approach was applied using an online questionnaire administered to 21 respondents from diverse groups and semi-structured interviews with teachers, parents, university students, and adolescents. Quantitative findings show that 57.1% of respondents considered digital content highly influential in reducing courtesy, 52.4% confirmed the normalization of offensive language in comment sections, and 85.7% concluded that adolescents remain highly vulnerable to negative trends. Qualitatively, findings revealed a personal integrity crisis, rising individualistic attitudes, and family conflicts driven by digital lifestyle pressures. This study affirms that parental supervision, age-based device restrictions, and religious value internalization are the most fundamental preventive defenses for youth morality in the digital age.
