Abstract

This study aims to analyze the difficulties faced by sixth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 150 Gresik in solving mathematical word problems based on George Polya's problem-solving framework. This research dynamic employs a qualitative descriptive approach involving 19 students, with 6 key informants selected across high, medium, and low ability levels. Data collection techniques included diagnostic tests on algebraic word problems and in-depth interviews. The results revealed that students' difficulties in solving mathematical word problems stem from both cognitive and non-cognitive factors. Cognitively, students with low ability experienced comprehension, transformation, and process skill errors due to weak foundational numeracy, such as incorrect borrowing execution in subtraction and dependency on manual repetitive addition instead of vertical multiplication algorithms. Non-cognitively, time anxiety caused high-ability students to bypass formal documentation of "known" and "asked" components. Medium-ability students demonstrated good computational skills but were prone to careless errors due to rushed completion. Meanwhile, low-ability students exhibited a total lack of self-monitoring and a severe procedural dependency, copying peers' work without understanding the underlying mathematical logic.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the realization of Geoffrey Leech's politeness maxims in students' utterances during Indonesian language learning in Class X-A of MA Raudlatul Ulum Putra Ganjaran Gondanglegi Malang. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The participants consisted of 15 tenth-grade students and one Indonesian language teacher as a supporting informant. Data were collected through observation, participant observation, note-taking, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that all six of Geoffrey Leech's politeness maxims—tact, generosity, approbation, modesty, agreement, and sympathy—were realized in students' utterances during classroom interaction. Among the 50 utterances analyzed, the tact and generosity maxims were the most dominant. These findings indicate that students tended to use polite expressions that demonstrated respect for teachers, appreciation for peers, and supportive communication during learning activities. The study also shows that the culture of the Islamic school and the habituation of polite language use contribute to students' character development and promote effective and harmonious classroom interaction.

Abstract

This study is motivated by students' low understanding of Civics Education (PKn), resulting from teacher-centered instruction. Based on John Dewey's constructivist theory, learning becomes more effective when students are actively involved in solving problems. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in Civics Education for fourth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Darul Da'wah wal Irsyad Seppange, Tungke Village, Bengo Subdistrict, Bone Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, involving the fourth-grade teacher and 19 students as research subjects. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results show that the implementation of PBL was able to develop students' activeness, motivation, and understanding of Civics material. Students became more active in discussion, more confident in expressing ideas, and better able to reason critically in solving problems related to daily life. Although constrained by time management and differences in students' abilities, the PBL model proved effective in supporting the Civics learning process.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the challenges of modernization and the busy schedules of youth, which threaten the sustainability of Lubuk Larangan management as a form of local wisdom in Padangsidimpuan City. To address this issue, this study aims to describe the role of customary leaders (tokoh adat) in strengthening youth participation and to identify the forms of youth involvement in its management. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with subjects selected through purposive sampling, consisting of one customary leader, one active youth, and one less active youth. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results indicate that customary leaders play a crucial role as mentors, motivators, social supervisors, and preservationists of customary values, which are proven to increase the awareness and responsibility of the younger generation. Youth participation itself is concretely demonstrated through their involvement in deliberations (musyawarah), community mutual cooperation (gotong royong), monitoring the Lubuk Larangan area, and the collective harvest agenda. Despite facing obstacles from the current of modernization, the active role of customary leaders remains a key factor in maintaining the sustainability of this traditional management.

Abstract

The phenomenon of digital transformation requires educational institutions such as Islamic boarding schools to begin implementing technology into their institutional systems. However, in traditional Islamic boarding schools such as Al-Fattah Temboro, there are strict rules regarding the use of technology. This study aims to conduct an in-depth examination of how teachers use technology in teaching and manage digital change based on Islamic values at the Al-Fattah Temboro Islamic boarding school. This study employs a qualitative approach using field research methods. Data were collected through interviews with teachers involved in the implementation of digital technology. The data were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results indicate that the digital transformation at the Al-Fattah Temboro Islamic boarding school employs a selective digitization model grounded in Islamic values, limiting technology to offline computers, the web, and social media, while strictly prohibiting the use of smartphones through firm sanctions. This approach has dual implications: it successfully maintains the students’ spiritual and academic focus but risks leaving them technologically unprepared after graduation. This study offers theoretical and practical contributions in the form of a safe digital transition model to ensure the sustainability of traditional Islamic education amid the tide of modernization.
