Abstract

This study aims to determine the difference in students' problem-solving abilities after implementing Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) based on local history in IPAS learning on the topic of Stories About My Region. This quantitative study employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants were 28 fourth-grade students at SDN Cicenang 1. Data were collected using a problem-solving ability test administered before and after the implementation of the learning approach. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality testing, homogeneity testing, and a paired sample t-test. The descriptive analysis showed an increase in the mean score from 62.68 on the pre-test to 73.75 on the post-test, representing an improvement of 11.07 points. The minimum score increased from 17 to 39, while the maximum score increased from 94 to 100. The paired sample t-test resulted in a t-value of -2.563 with 27 degrees of freedom and a significance value of 0.016 < 0.05. Therefore, there was a statistically significant difference in students' problem-solving abilities before and after the implementation of local-history-based CTL. These findings indicate that local-history-based CTL can serve as an alternative approach to IPAS learning by connecting instructional content with students' environment and experiences, thereby supporting the development of problem-solving abilities in elementary school.

Abstract

Low interest in learning Indonesian among elementary school students is often attributed to a lack of variety in teaching models and the use of non-interactive media. This situation results in limited active engagement and poor concentration among students during classroom instruction. This study aims to analyze the impact of the Game-Based Learning (GBL) model, supported by BAPER (Baca, Pelajari, Raih Prestasi-Read, Learn, Achieve) media, on the Indonesian language learning interest of fifth-grade elementary students. The study contributes an innovative, game-based interactive learning media alternative designed to boost student engagement at the elementary level. A quantitative approach utilizing a quasi-experimental design (specifically, a non-equivalent control group design) was employed at SD Negeri Suruh 01, involving a sample of 50 fifth-grade students (divided into a control group of 25 and an experimental group of 25). Data were gathered via learning interest questionnaires and observation sheets, then analyzed using the Independent Sample t-Test. The results revealed a significant difference in learning interest between the experimental and control groups tcalculated = 7.447 > ttable = 2.011; p = 0.000 < 0.05. The mean learning interest score for the experimental group (86.50) was significantly higher than that of the control group (78.50). The implementation of the GBL model supported by BAPER media proved effective in enhancing indicators such as feelings of enjoyment, interest, attention, and active student engagement. Consequently, the GBL model supported by BAPER media is concluded to have a positive and significant impact, making it a viable innovative learning alternative for increasing students' interest in learning Indonesian. Keywords: Game Based Learning, BAPER media, learning interest, Indonesian language, elementary school.

Abstract

This research aims to explore and analyze the concept of Islamic education according to K.H. Bisri Mustofa, a charismatic Indonesian Muslim scholar and intellectual. The main focus of this research is to identify the basic concepts, objectives, and curriculum of Islamic education offered in his works, particularly in Tafsir Al-Ibriz. This research is a library research study using a descriptive-qualitative approach. Primary data were obtained from the written works of K.H. Bisri Mustofa, while secondary data were obtained from relevant supporting literature. The results of the study show that K.H. Bisri Mustofa's perspective on Islamic education is rooted in the traditional values of the pesantren (Islamic boarding school), combined with the spirit of contextualization with the times. According to him, Islamic education does not only focus on intellectual intelligence and mastery of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning), but also emphasizes the formation of akhlakul karimah (noble character) and the independence of santri (students). The implications of this thought underline the importance of integrating spiritual, moral, and social aspects within the modern Islamic education system in order to produce a generation that is competent both religiously and socially.

Abstract

The rapid integration of digital technologies in vocational education demands highly specialized linguistic competencies, particularly for engineering students navigating complex instructional manuals and software interfaces. This qualitative study explores the specific English language barriers encountered by vocational learners and investigates their target needs for instructional media development. Framed within the English for Specific Purposes paradigm, the research involved 31 students in the 11th grade of the Industrial Electronics Engineering program at SMK Negeri 3 Selong, Indonesia. Data were gathered through open ended needs analysis questionnaires and subsequently processed using an interactive qualitative analysis model encompassing data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal a multifaceted language barrier where students simultaneously struggle with digital software interfaces, printed instructional manuals, and the physical identification of hardware components. Furthermore, the analysis indicates a strong student demand for a highly contextualized, multimodal learning approach. The participants explicitly requested instructional videos that synchronize authentic visual demonstrations of Internet of Things module assembly with clear bilingual text overlays to mitigate cognitive overload. This study concludes that general English instruction is fundamentally inadequate for vocational contexts, emphasizing the urgent necessity for tailored multimedia interventions to enhance technical vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of self-regulation on consumptive behavior among university students who use digital wallets at Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan. The development of digital wallets provides convenience, speed, and efficiency in conducting transactions, but it may also increase students’ tendency to make impulsive and excessive purchases. This study employed a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The research subjects consisted of 350 active students of Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan who use digital wallets. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using self-regulation and consumptive behavior scales in the form of Likert scales and were analyzed using simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS 20.0. The results showed that self-regulation had a significant effect on consumptive behavior, with an F-value of 75.131 and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. The R value of 0.421 and R Square value of 0.178 indicate that self-regulation contributed 17.8% to the variation in consumptive behavior, while the remaining 82.2% was influenced by other factors outside the study. The regression coefficient of -0.374 indicates that self-regulation had a negative effect on consumptive behavior. Thus, the higher the level of students’ self-regulation, the lower their tendency toward consumptive behavior when using digital wallets.
