Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning activity of students in Sociology learning in class X 3 of SMAN 12 Bungo which is characterized by the lack of student participation in discussions, courage to express opinions, the ability to ask questions, and involvement in the learning process. The Deep Learning approach is seen as one of the learning alternatives that is able to create a meaningful learning process (meaningful learning), full of awareness (mindful learning), and joyful learning, so that it can increase the active involvement of students. This study aims to describe the implementation of Sociology learning with a Deep Learning approach which includes the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages, as well as identify the advantages and disadvantages of its application in increasing the learning activity of students in class X 3 SMAN 12 Bungo. The theory used in this study is Lev Vygotsky's Social Constructivism Theory as the main basis for analyzing the implementation of Sociology learning with a Deep Learning approach in increasing student activity. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research informants were selected using the purposive sampling technique consisting of Sociology teachers and 6 students of class X 3 of SMAN 12 Bungo. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Furthermore, data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model which included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, as well as inference withdrawal and verification. The results of the research conducted in class X 3 of SMAN 12 Bungo show that the implementation of Sociology learning with the Deep Learning approach has been carried out through the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. In the planning stage, teachers develop learning tools that internalize the principles of meaningful learning, mindful learning, and joyful learning. The implementation places teachers as facilitators through discussions, analysis of social phenomena, presentations, and contextual learning, while the evaluation includes cognitive aspects and student activity. The application of the Deep Learning approach has been proven to increase students' activeness in visual, oral, listening, motor, mental, and emotional aspects. However, its implementation still faces obstacles in the form of limited facilities, time management, teacher readiness, and differences in student characteristics.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low nationalism values of third-grade elementary school students, which are shown through dishonest behavior, lack of respect for teachers and friends, and lack of responsibility for school tasks and rules. This study aims to describe the values of nationalism which include aspects of honesty, respect, and responsibility through the use of Character Pillar Poster media in third-grade students of SDN Terik Krian Sidoarjo. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach with 19 third-grade students as research subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and Likert scale questionnaires compiled based on nationalism value indicators. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of score calculations and percentages to determine the achievement category of each aspect. The results of the study show that the use of Character Pillar Poster media is able to help instill nationalism values in students. Aspects of honesty, respect, and responsibility are in the good to very good category. Based on the analysis of the three aspects of nationalism values, the results show figures of 88.15% for honesty, 89.21% for mutual respect, and 87.76% for responsibility. All three aspects fall into the "very good" category.Character Pillar Poster media functions as a visual reminder that helps students understand and apply positive behavior in everyday life in the school environment. Thus, Character Pillar Poster media can be used as an alternative learning media for Pancasila Education to support character building and strengthening nationalism values in elementary school students.

Abstract

The urban heat island effect (SUHI) is a phenomenon in which surface temperatures in urban areas rise compared to surrounding areas that are still dominated by vegetation or natural land. The SUHI phenomenon affects local atmospheric conditions in a given region. Rising surface temperatures can cause atmospheric instability, which triggers cloud formation and increased rainfall intensity, particularly convective rainfall in urban areas. These conditions are particularly important to monitor in river basin areas (DAS). The Kuranji River Basin is one of the main river basins in the city of Padang; the Kuranji River is prone to flooding, especially during periods of heavy rainfall, which causes an increase in river flow. The objectives of this study are: 1. To determine the correlation between the SUHI in 2015 and flood vulnerability; 2. To determine the correlation between the SUHI in 2020 and flood vulnerability; 3. To determine the correlation between the SUHI in 2025 and flood vulnerability. Data processing was performed using SPSS. Flood vulnerability data were processed using scoring and weighting methods, as well as overlay techniques, based on the research by Kusumo (2016). The method for mapping SUHI uses Land Surface Temperature (LST) data; SUHI identification is then performed based on the thresholds derived from the processed LST data for each observation year, calculated by subtracting the SUHI threshold value from the LST data. The results of processing the 2015 SUHI data with flood vulnerability show a very strong correlation, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of approximately 0.859; the 2020 SUHI data and flood vulnerability show a very strong correlation with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.868; and the 2025 SUHI data and flood vulnerability show a very strong correlation with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.829.

Abstract

Self-confidence is an essential aspect of students' development that supports academic achievement, communication, and social interaction. The results of the Student Needs Assessment Questionnaire (Angket Kebutuhan Peserta Didik [AKPD]) administered to Grade VII D students at SMPN 11 Madiun indicated that most students had low levels of self-confidence, highlighting the need for guidance services to foster their confidence in their own abilities. This study aimed to improve students' self-confidence through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in classical guidance services. The study employed a Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK) design conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The participants were 31 Grade VII D students. Data were collected using a self-confidence questionnaire and analyzed descriptively. The results showed a gradual improvement in students' self-confidence, increasing from 49% in the pre-action stage to 65% in Cycle I and 78% in Cycle II. In addition, students became more actively involved in group discussions, more willing to express their opinions, more confident in interacting with their peers, and more confident when presenting the results of group discussions. Therefore, the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model was effective in improving students' self-confidence.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the extent of teacher achievement motivation, the extent of teacher professional development, and the influence of professional development on the achievement motivation of state junior secondary school (SMP Negeri) teachers in Kecamatan Padang Utara. Initial observations indicated that teachers tended to remain within a comfortable routine, treated professional-development activities mainly as an administrative obligation, and avoided professional competition, which raised concern about the strength of their achievement motivation. The study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive-correlational design through a survey method. The population consisted of 128 teachers from three state junior secondary schools, and a sample of 102 teachers was determined using the Slovin formula and proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 46 valid statement items and analyzed descriptively and inferentially, including normality, linearity, simple linear regression, t-test, and coefficient of determination, using IBM SPSS Statistics 27. The results show that teacher achievement motivation and teacher professional development are both in the high category, with an achievement level of 81.40% and 81.00% respectively. Simple linear regression produced the equation Y = 66.292 + 0.294X, with tcount 3.820 > ttable 1.984 and p < 0.001, indicating that professional development has a positive and significant effect on teachers' achievement motivation, while explaining 12.7% of its variance (R2 = 0.127). These findings suggest that professional development contributes meaningfully to teachers' achievement motivation, although other factors outside the model remain influential and merit further investigation.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a crucial competency that needs to be fostered in *Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Islamic elementary school students to meet the challenges of 21st century learning. One approach considered effective for facilitating the development of this skill is Problem Based Learning (PBL), which places students at the center of the learning process through the resolution of contextual problems. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning method in enhancing the critical thinking skills of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of classroom teachers and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and subsequently analyzed using an interactive analysis model comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that the implementation of Problem Based Learning proceeded through stages involving problem orientation, student organization, investigation, result formulation and presentation, and reflection. This process encouraged students to be more active in identifying problems, analyzing information, expressing opinions based on evidence, collaborating in groups, and formulating solutions to the problems presented. Although challenges arose such as disparities in student abilities and limited instructional time teachers were able to overcome them through effective guidance and classroom management. Thus, the Problem Based Learning method contributes positively to developing the critical thinking skills of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students through active, collaborative, and student centered learning.
