Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of fourth-grade students in the IPAS subject at UPT SD Negeri 77 Pinrang. Based on initial observations, only 8 out of 18 students achieved scores above the Learning Objectives Achievement Criteria (KKTP). This problem was caused by the lack of variation in the learning models used by the teacher, the dominance of the lecture method, and the limited opportunities for students to think critically and engage actively in the learning process. Additionally, students were not accustomed to working in groups, lacked confidence in expressing their opinions, and were more accustomed to receiving direct answers from the teacher. This research aims to improve student learning outcomes through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a qualitative approach conducted in two cycles. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and documentation. The results showed an improvement in student learning outcomes and learning activities after the implementation of the PBL model. Thus, the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model effectively enhances IPAS learning outcomes among fourth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 77 Pinrang.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in fifth-grade elementary school still faces challenges, namely low critical and creative thinking skills in students, caused by the use of teaching materials that are not varied and not relevant to real-life contexts. This study aims to develop open-ended problem-based Student Worksheets (LKPD) for mathematics learning on whole numbers in fifth-grade elementary school. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Borg & Gall model, modified by Sugiyono into seven steps. Validation results from material, media, and language experts indicate that the developed LKPD falls into the "very feasible" category, with an average validation score of 95%. A limited trial with 10 fifth-grade students resulted in a feasibility rating of 91%, also categorized as very feasible. The results of this study indicate that the use of open-ended problem-based LKPD contributes positively and effectively to stimulating students' open-minded thinking and creativity.

Abstract

Students' understanding of mathematics is still relatively low. Mathematics is often considered a boring and intimidating subject. Many students struggle to understand the material, which then impacts their low learning outcomes. This is partly due to learning methods that focus too much on memorizing formulas. Furthermore, internal and external factors significantly influence mathematics learning. The purpose of this study was to describe the factors causing difficulties in learning mathematics in elementary schools. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Qualitative research aims to explore findings, uncover facts and phenomena, variables, and events that occurred during the research process. The results showed that the factors causing difficulties in learning mathematics in elementary schools are both internal and external factors. Therefore, collaboration between teachers, parents, and the school environment is needed to create more effective and enjoyable learning strategies for students. Furthermore, to overcome difficulties in learning mathematics, a comprehensive approach is needed, involving the active role of teachers, parents, and improving the learning environment and strategies to be more engaging, interactive, and tailored to students' needs.

Abstract

Limitations in learning media can hinder the optimization of the learning process, resulting in students not fully understanding concepts, particularly IPAS material. This study aims to test the effectiveness of interactive e-books in improving students' understanding of IPAS material, specifically related to the water cycle. A pre-experimental design with groups in a pretest-posttest format was used in this study. The study involved 30 fifth-grade students (18 boys and 12 girls) from a public elementary school in one of the sub-districts in Pamulihan. The measurement tool used was a written test to assess understanding of IPAS material on the water cycle. Data analysis involved a normality test, as the results were normal, followed by a t-test and an N-Gain test. The results of the paired t-test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results (Sig. <0.05). The degree of improvement in understanding, calculated using N-Gain, was in the high category, indicating that this medium can effectively enhance students' understanding of the concept. Based on these results, the interactive electronic book on the water cycle is effective for teaching the IPAS water cycle in elementary schools.

Abstract

Listening skills are one of the skills that must be mastered by students because this ability is the foundation of the other three language skills, namely speaking, reading, and writing. By having good listening skills, students will more easily understand the material or information presented by the teacher. From there, they can use it to develop more structured speaking and writing skills. However, in the field, many students still have low listening skills. This is caused by the use of media and learning methods that are still conventional and tend to use the lecture method, so that student engagement in the learning process is still lacking. For this reason, an interactive multimedia-based learning media called Pixelwave was developed as a supporting tool to improve students' listening skills. The type of research used in this study is R&D (Research and Development). The subjects were 25 fifth-grade elementary school students in Regency X. The results showed a significant increase in students' listening skills after using Pixelwave media compared to conventional media. From the data analysis conducted, it can be concluded that the use of Pixelwave media has proven effective in improving fifth-grade students' listening skills in Indonesian language lessons. Thus, this media can be recommended as a fun learning alternative to improve students' reading skills.
