Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe verbal bullying that occurs in alpha generation elementary school students at SDN 3 Mojosari. This research uses a qualitative method using a case study approach. The research instruments used are questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The results of data analysis showed that of the 11 indicators of verbal bullying studied, the “ordered” indicator obtained the highest percentage and was the form of treatment most often experienced by students. This was experienced by students including RA, AZ, SY, AL, RE, BI, AM, FA, AB, EG, MA. Meanwhile, the least frequent indicator experienced by students was “extorted money or goods”, which was only experienced by 6 students, namely RA, SY, AL, RE, BI, and AB. These results indicate that verbal forms of bullying related to commands or domination are more common than material coercion in the student environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of REKA (Rebut Kartu) Geometry learning media on the mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at UPT SPF SD Inpres Nipa-Nipa, Makassar City. The background of this research stems from students' low understanding of geometric concepts and the limited use of engaging and interactive learning media. The research employed a quasi-experimental method using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class (33 students) using REKA Geometry media, and a control class (31 students) using conventional methods. Data were collected through learning outcome tests (pretest and posttest), implementation observations, and documentation. The findings revealed that the implementation of REKA Geometry media was highly effective and significantly improved students' mathematics learning outcomes. The average posttest score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, and the Mann-Whitney U test showed a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05). Therefore, REKA Geometry media proved to be effective in enhancing students’ understanding of two-dimensional shapes through a fun and collaborative game-based learning approach.

Abstract

One important element in education is reading. This research is motivated by the discovery of several literacy issues at SDN No. 20 Inpres Somba, where almost all students can read but struggle to understand what they have read. Not only that, but students also have difficulty making statements that correspond to the reading text. Furthermore, it was found that some students are unable to determine the theme of a reading, struggle to retell the text in their own words, and have difficulty drawing conclusions from a reading text. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Reading Guide method using fictional literary works to improve students' reading comprehension skills. The Reading Guide method is a teaching strategy designed to help students organize information and enhance their understanding of the text. In this research, fictional literary works were chosen as a learning medium due to their ability to engage students and provide a rich context for exploring meaning. The research method used is Classroom Action Research. The subjects of the study consisted of 13 fourth-grade students at SDN No. 20 Inpres Somba. The results showed that the implementation of the Reading Guide method in teacher activities during the first cycle resulted in a "sufficient" category and improved to a "good" category in the second cycle. The application of the Reading Guide method in student activities during the first cycle resulted in a "good" category with a percentage that was not yet satisfactory, and improved in the second cycle to a "good" category with a satisfactory percentage. Additionally, the learning outcomes using this method in the first cycle resulted in a "low" category and significantly improved to a "high" category in the second cycle.

Abstract

In fourth-grade science instruction at Tarokan 3 Elementary School, teachers do not use instructional media and still rely on teacher and student textbooks as teaching aids. This makes students less active in learning about energy transformations. Based on observations and interviews, only 15 of 40 students achieved the minimum grade point average (KKTP) (75). This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the "Big Book" instructional media in increasing students' interest in reading. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects were 40 fourth-grade students, with data collected through observation, interviews, and tests. The instructional media were tested on both a limited and a broad scale. The results of the limited trial showed a completion rate of 100%, and the broad trial showed a completion rate of 100%. These results indicate that the "Big Book" learning media is very effective in improving student learning outcomes, exceeding the KKTP score, and can be used without the need for improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the scientific literacy abilities of fifth-grade students in elementary schools, specifically comparing the differences between urban and rural schools. Scientific literacy is defined as the ability to utilize scientific knowledge to identify questions, explore new knowledge, describe scientific phenomena, and draw conclusions based on scientific evidence. The importance of scientific literacy is emphasized in the context of the 21st century, which demands individuals possess superior qualities to compete globally. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method, involving 30 fifth-grade students from two elementary schools (SD A in a rural area and SD B in an urban area). Data were collected through a written test consisting of 20 items. Descriptive analysis results indicate that the majority of students in both schools fall into the "High" category for scientific literacy, but students in SD B (urban) show a higher achievement level, especially in the "Very High" category. Inferential analysis using an independent samples t-test revealed a statistically significant difference in scientific literacy learning outcomes between students from SD A and SD B. The average scores of students in SD B were higher than those in SD A, indicating a gap in scientific literacy abilities between students in urban and rural areas.
