Pendas : Jurnah Ilmiah Pendidikan Dasar is a journal published twice a year, namely in June and December that aims to be a forum for scientific publications to pour ideas and studies complemented with the results of research related to primary school education. To achieve this, basic education journals will selectively disseminate ideas and studies complemented by quality research results related to basic education, develop an education center to the elementary-school that can produce innovative, creative and original work and tested in the field of education and learning elementary School to be disseminated and implemented for improving the quality of primary-to-national education at the national, regional and international levels.

This study aims to enhance the learning motivation of fourth-grade students at UPT SDN 019 Muara Uwai in the subject of Pancasila Education through the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning model assisted by the Canva application. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings. Research instruments included teaching modules, observation sheets for teacher and student activities, and a learning motivation questionnaire. The results showed an increase in students' learning motivation from a pre-action rate of 46.6%, to 63.33% in the first cycle, and reaching 83.3% in the second cycle. This improvement was evident in students’ active participation in discussions, presentations, and enthusiasm for using Canva’s visual media. The implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning model assisted by Canva made learning more engaging, contextual, and relevant to students’ lives, positively impacting both motivation and learning outcomes. The study recommends the use of the Contextual Teaching and Learning model and interactive digital media such as Canva as innovative alternatives in Pancasila Education at the elementary school level.

This study aims to analyze students' conceptual understanding of linear equations and inequalities in terms of sociomathematical norms. The background of this research is based on the importance of conceptual understanding in mathematics learning and the role of sociomathematical norms as part of the classroom social environment that influences students' learning processes. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with six tenth-grade students from SMA Muhammadiyah Bangkinang Kota, selected through purposive sampling based on high, medium, and low categories derived from the sociomathematical norms questionnaire. The research instruments consisted of a questionnaire, written test, and semi-structured interviews. The findings show that students with high sociomathematical norms tend to have better conceptual understanding, as evidenced by their ability to restate concepts, classify objects, provide examples and non-examples, correctly apply mathematical procedures, and implement concepts in real-world contexts. In contrast, students with low sociomathematical norms struggle to understand and apply concepts accurately. These findings indicate that sociomathematical norms significantly contribute to students' conceptual understanding in mathematics.

This study aims to analyze the strengthening of literacy and functional literacy among marginalized children through the activities of the Sanggar Anak Sungai Deli (SASUDE) community in Medan City, Indonesia. Marginalized children living along the Deli River face limited access to formal education, poor economic conditions, and low literacy skills. Through a non-formal education approach, SASUDE serves as an alternative learning space that integrates basic literacy, character development, and environmental awareness. This research employs a qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that SASUDE plays a crucial role in improving children’s reading, writing, and functional literacy skills through creative activities, contextual learning, and personal mentoring. The main supporting factors are the dedication of volunteers and community involvement, while challenges include limited learning facilities and an unconducive environment. In conclusion, SASUDE not only enhances literacy among marginalized children but also functions as a social empowerment platform that fosters confidence, independence, and environmental awareness.

This quasi-experimental study aims to determine the effect of applying the Cooperative Learning Model Type Numbered Heads Together (NHT) on the cooperative attitude of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Beroanging, Makassar City. The independent variable in this study is the NHT learning model, while the dependent variable is students’ cooperative attitude. The study involved two classes, with 15 students from class VA as the experimental group and 15 students from class VB as the control group. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The results showed that the implementation of the NHT model was carried out very well and significantly improved students’ cooperative attitudes. The N-gain score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, indicating that the NHT model had a positive effect on students’ cooperation skills.

This study aims to improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model in fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 002 Langgini. The problem addressed in this research is the low level of students' conceptual understanding in mathematics, as indicated by the number of students who were unable to restate concepts, provide examples, or relate concepts through mathematical representations. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 18 fourth-grade students. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and documentation. The results showed an increase in students’ understanding of mathematical concepts after implementing the Discovery Learning model. In the pre-cycle, only 33% of students achieved mastery. After the first and second cycles, the percentage of mastery increased significantly. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Discovery Learning model is effective in improving students’ understanding of mathematical concepts. This model allows students to learn actively and independently in discovering and understanding mathematical concepts.

Background This research is motivated by the low arithmetic ability of first grade students of SDN 010 Siabu, especially in addition material. This is caused by the use of conventional learning methods that are less interesting and the lack of utilization of concrete learning media. This study aims to determine the effect of using the jarimatika method on students' arithmetic ability in addition material. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely class I A as the experimental group and class I B as the control group, each consisting of 21 students. The instrument used was a numeracy ability test that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of data analysis using the independent t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the posttest scores of the experimental group and the control group, with a significance value of 0.001 <0.05. The average posttest score of the experimental group was higher, namely 89.05 compared to the control group 80.90. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of the jarimatika method has a positive effect on improving the arithmetic ability of first grade students in addition material. This research is motivated by the author's concern regarding the lack of student collaboration in Indonesian language learning. Indonesian language learning needs to emphasize the attitude of cooperation among individuals in a group to complete tasks, share information and knowledge, and work together in a group to complement each other in achieving common goals. The purpose of this study is to improve student collaboration in the Indonesian language subject for fifth-grade students at State Elementary School 003 Pulau Jambu, Kuok District. This research was conducted in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year at State Elementary School 003 Pulau Jambu, Kuok District. The research method used is classroom action research (CAR). The subjects of this study are the fifth-grade students of State Elementary School 003 Pulau Jambu, Kuok District, for the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection was conducted using observation sheets as instruments. Data analysis utilized both qualitative and quantitative tests. The results of this study indicate that the application of the cooperative model type lottery cards can improve collaboration among fifth-grade students at State Elementary School 003 Pulau Jambu, Kuok District. The improvement can be seen from the number of students collaborating in cycle I, which consisted of 15 students with a percentage of 65.21%, and the number of students who did not collaborate, which amounted to 8 students with a percentage of 34.78%. In cycle II, the number of students collaborating increased to 21 students with a percentage of 91.30%, while the number of students who did not collaborate decreased to 2 students with a percentage of 8.69%. Since the number of students who did not collaborate decreased from cycle I to cycle II, this research is considered successful.

This study aims to analyze the effect of the JUCAMA learning model assisted by the Math Solver application on students' mathematical critical thinking skills. The background of this research is the importance of developing critical thinking skills in mathematics learning, as well as the need to utilize learning models and technology that can support this process. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design and involves seventh-grade students at MTs in Sawah Village as research subjects. Sample selection was done using purposive sampling with two classes: the experimental class using the JUCAMA model and the control class using expository learning. The research instruments include a critical thinking skills test covering indicators of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference. The research results indicate that there is a significant influence of implementing the JUCAMA learning model assisted by the Math Solver application on improving students' critical thinking skills. Students who participated in learning using the JUCAMA model showed higher achievement in the indicators of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference compared to students who underwent expository learning. These findings suggest that using the JUCAMA model with the support of digital technology can be an effective strategy in developing students' mathematical critical thinking skills.

This research aims to determine the effect of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model on students’ mathematical communication skills at SMA Muhammadiyah Bangkinang. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Pretest and Posttest Control Group Design. The population consisted of all eleventh-grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah Bangkinang in the 2024/2025 academic year. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, consisting of two classes: class XI IPA 1 as the experimental group taught using the Jigsaw cooperative learning model (30 students) and class XI IPA 2 as the control group taught using conventional learning methods (29 students). The research instrument was a mathematical communication skill test consisting of five essay questions on the topic of Matrices, administered before and after the treatment. The results showed a significant difference between the mathematical communication skills of students taught using the Jigsaw model and those taught with conventional learning. This was proven by the Independent Sample t-test, which obtained a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the Jigsaw cooperative learning model had a significant effect on students’ mathematical communication skills. The effect size (Cohen’s d) was 2.46, which falls into the very large category. Furthermore, the N-Gain analysis showed an average score of 0.7517 for the experimental class (high/effective category) and 0.4650 for the control class (moderate category). These findings indicate that the Jigsaw cooperative learning model is highly effective and strongly influences the improvement of students’ mathematical communication skills, particularly in explaining mathematical ideas, situations, and relations both orally and in writing.

This study aims to develop teaching materials to improve the reading skills of first-grade students at MIS Bidayatul Hidayah 3 Elementary School, Medan. This research was motivated by students' low ability to recognize letters and spell words, as well as the limited use of engaging and appropriate teaching materials. The method used was research and development using the ADDIE model, but limited to the development stage: analysis, design, and development. The main focus of this research was to produce valid and suitable teaching materials. Data collection techniques used validation sheets from material experts and design experts. The validation results showed that the teaching materials received a feasibility score of 92.5% from the material experts and 93% from the design experts, thus categorizing them as "very suitable." This research is expected to contribute to the provision of innovative and effective teaching materials to support elementary school students' reading skills.
