Abstract

This research is about the growth rate of green and brown Kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed in different cultivation methods. This study aims to compare the growth of Kappaphycus alvarezii green and brown varieties and determine the appropriate cultivation method for waters in the Riau Islands. This research was conducted from 27 May 2021 to 11 July 2021 for 45 days in Berakit Village, Teluk Sebong District, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands Province. In this study, there were two variations, namely the green variety and the brown variety with a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with each variation having 3 treatments and 3 replications. The parameters measured were absolute weight growth, specific growth rate, survival and water quality. Data analysis used a two-way ANOVA test of variance and continued with the Tukey test. The results showed that the highest seaweed growth was found in green varieties with the best cultivation method being floating rafts.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the blood profile of tilapia (O. niloticus) on fortified feed with E. cottonii seaweed flour. This research was conducted for 60 days at the Laboratory of the Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Mataram. The method used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) experiment with four treatments and three replications, namely P1 (without E. cottonii flour), P2 (E. cottonii flour 4%), P3 (E. cottonii flour 8%), P4 (E. cottonii flour 12%). The parameters measured were hematocrit, hemoglobin, erythrocytes, leukocytes, absolute weight, absolute length, SR and water quality including temperature, DO, and pH. Statistically analyzed at 5% significance level with 95% confidence level using ANOVA analysis and further test using Duncan's Multiple Range test. The results showed that the hematocrit value ranged from 10.67-13.67%, hemoglobin ranged from 5.1-9.1G%, erythrocytes ranged from 2.2x106-9.9 x106 cells/mm. leukocytes ranged from 11.4 x104-17.6 x104 cells/mm, absolute weight ranged from 16.26 -18.6 g, absolute length ranged from 5.08±0.50-5.91±0.27cm and survival (SR) ranged from 86.7±11.55-93.3±5.77%. Measurement of water quality, temperature 28-28.8, DO 6.8-7.5, and pH 7.43-7.99. The addition of different E. cottonii flour to tilapia feed affected hemoglobin, erythrocyte, leukocyte and growth levels, but did not affect hematocrit levels and survival rates. Supplementation of E. cottonii flour to a concentration of 12% in feed can increase hemoglobin, erythrocyte, and leukocyte levels so as to support better growth performance of tilapia

Abstract

Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) has become the option of aquaculture commodities which are generally found in farmers. This study aimed to evaluate the comparison of different breeding methods between natural, semi-artificial and artificial to the production of seed. The research methods included water and tank preparation, broodstock management, breeding activity, hatching eggs, rearing 7 days of larvae, nursery up to 30 days and harvesting. The results showed that there was a decrease in the weight of female fish after breeding with a percentage of 11,27% naturally, 6,11% semi artificially, and 5,7% artificially. The fecundity of the broodstock produced differed between treatments, namely by natural spawning 128,000 eggs, semi-artificial 68,034 eggs and artificially 24,537 eggs. Fertilization rate of fish obtained from natural breeding was 72%, semi-artificial 89% and artificial 81%. The hatching rate of fish obtained from natural breeding was 56%, semi-artificial was 79% and artificial was 63%. The survival rate of larvae was 90% from natural breeding broodstock, 75% from semi artificial breeding broodstock and 70% from artificial breeding broodstock. Seed survival rate was 15% from natural breeding broodstock, 12% from semi artificial breeding broodstock and 7% from artificial breeding broodstock. The weight absolute growth rate of seeds was 0.37 g with a length of 3.7 cm from natural breeding, 0.43 g with a length of 3.1 cm from a semi-artificial breeding and 0.25 g with a length of 2.5 cm from an artificial breeding. During the research, it was found that the water quality was still at optimal levels for common carp growth.

Abstract

Along with the increase in fish consumption in Indonesia and the rapid development of freshwater fish farming, it is necessary to guarantee the availability of a supply of seeds that meet the requirements of both quality, quantity and continuity. PT Hatchery Nila Kekar as a producer of tilapia seeds had fluctuations in production caused inefficiency in the use of production inputs. This study aims to identify the factors that influence the production of tilapia hatchery and to analyze the level of technical efficiency. The total sample in the study was 60 pool units taken by census technique. Analysis of factors affecting production and technical efficiency used the Cobb Douglas Stochastic Frontier production function approach. The results of the analysis showed that the production factors that have a significant effect on the amount of production are the variables of ​​​​pond area, number of female broodstock, pellet feed and total weight of broodstock. The technically efficient pools are 34 while 26 pools are not yet efficient.

Abstract

Isolation of Bacillus sp. the potential for probiotics in the digestive tract of Silver Pompano has never been carried out. Therefore it is necessary to research the isolation and selection of Bacillus sp. potential probiotics in the digestive tract of Silver Pompano to increase growth and feed efficiency. Bacteria were isolated from the digestive tract of Silver Pompano to ensure that the isolates obtained were from Bacillus sp. then gram staining and spore staining were performed on the isolates obtained. After that, a Proteolytic, Lipolytic, Amylolytic Activity test was carried out, then a Resistance Test to Stomach Acid and Bile Salts, as well as a bacterial growth test for 24 hours. There are six isolates of Bacillus sp., which have the potential for probiotics in Silver Pompano's digestive tract, which has the ability of proteolytic, lipolytic, and amylolytic enzyme activity and is resistant to acid and alkaline conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to determineethe types of parasites in betta fish. This research was conducted in February to March 2022. The research site was at Farm Irwan Fisheries Banda Aceh, while for the identification of parasites carried out attthe Fish Quarantine Station for Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products Aceh. The method used in this research is descriptive analytic method. Purposive sampling was applied with 3 criteria: thin fish, very slow fish movement, and skin irritation. The results showed that the type of parasites were Gyrodactylus sp. Dactylogyrus sp., Trichodina sp. and Lernae sp. which found on the skin and gills. The highest prevalence was seen in the skin at 17% while the lowest prevalence was in the gills, the prevalence value was 12%. The value o fthe degree of infection in the skin is 4.85 while the lowest intensity in the skin was 0.2.

Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is one of the aquaculture commodities that has the potential to be develop as a promising freshwater aquaculture sector in the long term. The condition of the high market and demand for fish consumption has become the goal of the cultivating community in Pulau Terap Village to produce tilapia commodities. However, in cultivation activities, fluctuations in production yields and cycles often occur, it is necessary to study the production process. The purpose of this study was to analyze the production and business performance of tilapia in Pulau Terap Village, Kuok District, Kampar Regency, Riau. This research uses a survey case study method with direct observation, interviews and participating in on-farm cultivation activities to collect data in the field. The results showed that the production of tilapia fish farming in Pulau Terap Village with the KJA system had a better TKH at KJA size 3×6 m by 49.74±2.63%, LPS value was better at KJA size 4×7 m by 3.94 ±0.15%, the RKP value is better for KJA size 4×7 m by 1.16±0.17%, and production is 5,072 tons/unit/year on KJA size 3×6 m. The business performance obtained in this business is PP 0.6 years and R/C 1.5 so that the business is feasible to continue and in future production development it is more recommended to use KJA measuring 3 × 6 m.

Abstract

Vibrio sp. adalah bakteri patogen penyebab wabah penyakit yang mematikan dan paling berbahaya dalam budidaya udang. Kandungan Hidrogen Peroksida dan ion silver dalam Smart Care® memiliki manfaat sebagai bekterisidal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas Hidrogen Peroksida dan ion silver (Smart Care®) dalam menurunkan populasi bakteri Vibrio sp. Kepadatan populasi Vibrio sp. diamati dengan perbedaan dosis pemberian Smart Care® yaitu 0 mg/L; 2 mg/L; 3 mg/L; 4 mg/L; dan 5mg/L. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi hidrogen peroksida dan ion silver (Smart Care®) secara signifikan mengurangi kolonisasi Vibrio sp. Mulai dari dosis 2 mg/L memiliki efektifitas yang baik dalam menurunkan populasi Vibrio sp. selama 72 jam.

Abstract

The main problem faced in the supply of quality catfish seeds is the low survival and growth rates. The efforts that can be made to increase the survival rate of catfish and growth by administering the hormone serotonin. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role and dose of the hormone serotonin on survival rates and growth performance in catfish fry. This study used RAL which consisted of 4 treatments with 3 replications namely the administration of serotonin hormone of 0 (S0), 0.1 (S1), 1.0 (S2), 1.5 (S3) mg/g-1 fish. The results showed that giving serotonin at 1.0 (S2) mg/g-1 fish was able to increase the survival rate of catfish seeds by 8.70% and inhibit growth performance by 13.86% in catfish seeds (Clarias sp).

Abstract

Individu jantan Betta splendens memiliki warna dan bentuk yang digemari di pasar ikan hias dibandingkan betina. Karena itu budidaya cupang dapat dilakukan melalui produksi jantan menggunakan teknologi seks reversal dalam mengarahkan perkembangan kelamin ikan menjadi jantan (maskulinisasi). Bahan alami yang telah digunakan untuk maskulinisasi ikan adalah madu. Karena itu tujuan penelitian adalah mengkaji penggunaan madu melalui perendaman embrio untuk maskulinisasi ikan cupang. Keberhasilan maskulinisasi dianalisis melalui karakteristik madu, persentase ikan jantan, tingkat penetasan telur, mortalitas tiap 15 hari, dan sintasan pada akhir pemeliharaan. Embrio yang digunakan berumur 20 jam setelah pembuahan. Perlakuan penelitian adalah perendaman embrio cupang di dalam larutan madu (mL L-1) 5, 10, 15, 20, dan 25. Perendaman dilakukan selama 7 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa madu yang digunakan memiliki kalium 0,31% dan pH 4. Pada penelitian ini pemberian madu tidak berpengaruh terhadap jumlah cupang jantan. Pemberian madu 25 mL L-1 air menghasilkan 56,98±4,58% jantan, tingkat penetasan telur 99,17±1,67%, dan sintasan umur 90 hari setelah menetas 79,89±4,50%. Mortalitas terjadi pada awal pemeliharaan larva. Setelah umur 60 hari setelah menetas tidak terjadi kematian pada cupang.
