Abstract

This study aimed to determine the implementation of the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) learning model in teaching passing techniques in volleyball within Physical Education, Sports, and Health learning at SMPN 02 Ella Hilir. The method used was a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 12 ninth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation to obtain an overview of the learning process. The results showed that the implementation of the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) model could improve students’ activity and engagement in the volleyball learning process. Through game-based learning, students became more active, enthusiastic, and better able to understand game concepts and the execution of passing techniques. However, several obstacles were still found, such as incorrect ready position, lack of coordination between hand movements and visual focus on the ball, and improper control of force when performing passing. In conclusion, the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) model can be an effective alternative learning model in volleyball learning, especially in teaching passing techniques. Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the level of emotional intelligence, the level of basic soccer skills, and the relationship between emotional intelligence and basic skills among students aged 13–17 years at Thirteens Football Academy. The method used was a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 40 students selected using a total sampling technique. Emotional intelligence was measured using a Likert-scale questionnaire covering self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Basic technical skills were assessed through objective and standardized tests of dribbling, passing, and shooting. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, normality tests, and Spearman correlation analysis. The results showed that students' emotional intelligence levels were generally in the moderate to good category. Basic technical skills varied, with dribbling and passing categorized as good to very good, while shooting skills were relatively low among some students. In conclusion, there is no significant relationship between emotional intelligence and basic soccer skills (r = 0.062; p > 0.05), indicating that emotional intelligence does not significantly contribute to students’ basic technical abilities. Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of taping on change of direction (CoD) performance in soccer players using a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. The method followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines, with literature searches conducted in Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar databases from 2010 to 2026. Article selection was performed using the PICOS framework, resulting in eight eligible studies. The findings indicate that most studies reported improvements in agility performance related to CoD following the application of taping, although some studies found no significant differences. The types of taping applied included kinesio taping, neuromuscular taping, and dynamic taping, primarily on lower extremity muscles such as the quadriceps and gastrocnemius. These improvements are associated with enhanced proprioceptive stimulation and joint stability. In conclusion, taping has potential as a complementary intervention to improve change of direction (CoD) performance; however, its effectiveness remains inconsistent due to variations in application techniques, duration, and subject characteristics. Therefore, taping is more effective when combined with structured physical training programs rather than being used as a primary intervention.   Keywords: Agility, Change of Direction, Soccer, Taping

Abstract

This study analyzed the relationship between anxiety levels and achievement motivation on the performance of gymnastics athletes at the Arcamanik Student Sports Education and Training Center (PPLP). Psychological factors, including pre-competition anxiety and motivation, are recognized as influencing athletes' performance during competition. The study used a descriptive quantitative method with a correlational approach, involving 11 athletes selected by purposive sampling, aged over 12 years and experienced in official competitions. Data were collected through questionnaires using the Sport Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT) instrument, achievement motivation instrumentation, and performance assessments. Data analysis was performed using the Pearson correlation test using SPSS. The results showed that the correlation coefficient between anxiety and performance was r = 0.411 (p = 0.209), while between achievement motivation and performance was r = 0.576 (p = 0.064). Both had a moderate and positive relationship, although they did not reach statistical significance below the threshold of p < 0.05. These findings suggest a tendency that increased achievement motivation and managed anxiety can contribute to improved athlete performance, although the small sample size limits the generalizability of the results.
