Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of a hybrid Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) and Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) model in net games learning on elementary school students’ game performance and empathy. The study employed an experimental method using a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design. The participants were 32 sixth-grade students of SDN 113 Banjarsari selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI) to assess game performance and the Empathy Assessment Scale (EAS) to measure empathy. Data analysis was conducted using a Paired Sample t-test at a significance level of 0.05. The findings revealed that: (1) the implementation of the hybrid TGfU–TPSR model significantly improved students’ empathy; (2) the implementation of the hybrid TGfU–TPSR model significantly improved students’ game performance; (3) the integration of TGfU and TPSR effectively promotes game-related competencies while fostering students’ social-emotional development through game-centered learning and social responsibility experiences. Therefore, the hybrid TGfU–TPSR model can serve as an alternative physical education approach to support students’ holistic development in both psychomotor and affective domains. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of honey administration on increasing stamina, arm muscle endurance, and lactic acid levels in badminton athletes from Club Jaya Pratama Bandung. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study sample consisted of 20 athletes divided into an experimental group and a control group of 10 individuals each. The experimental group was given 70 grams of honey dissolved in 250 ml of water and consumed 30–60 minutes before training for 16 sessions, while the control group underwent training without honey. The research instruments included the Arm Curl Test to measure arm muscle endurance, the Bleep Test to measure VO₂Max as an indicator of stamina, and Accutrend Lactate to measure lactic acid levels. Data analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, Paired Samples t-test, and Independent Samples t-test. The results showed a significant increase between the pre-test and post-test in all variables in both the experimental and control groups (p<0.05). However, the Independent Samples t-Test results showed no significant differences between the experimental and control groups in right arm muscle endurance (p=0.063), left arm muscle endurance (p=0.877), VO₂Max (p=0.718), and lactic acid levels (p=0.905). Therefore, honey supplementation has not been proven to be more effective than regular exercise in increasing stamina, arm muscle endurance, and reducing lactic acid levels in badminton athletes. Abstract

This study aim to determine the effect of implementing a Game-Based Learning approach through the colored tail ball game (Bonakor) on elementary school students’ gross motor skills. This research used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, specifically a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 second-grade students of SDN 032 Tilil selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument used the Test of Gross Motor Development-Second Edition (TGMD-2). The results showed an increase in the mean TGMD-2 score from 85.8 in the pretest to 97.1 in the posttest, with a difference of 11.3 points. The Paired Samples t-test results indicated a significance value of < 0.001, meaning there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. Therefore, the implementation of Game-Based Learning through the Bonakor game significantly improved students’ gross motor skills. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between anxiety levels and backward roll learning outcomes in junior high school students, as well as to examine differences based on gender. This study employed a correlational design with a quantitative approach and random sampling technique, involving 105 students consisting of 49 male students and 56 female students. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), which has passed validity and reliability tests, while backward roll learning outcomes were measured through practical skills assessment using an established assessment rubric. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test showed that the data were not normally distributed. Therefore, Spearman's Rank correlation test was used for correlation analysis, and the Mann-Whitney U Test was used for gender-based difference analysis. The results indicated that there was no significant relationship between anxiety levels and backward roll learning outcomes (ρ = -0.131; p = 0.181 > 0.05). However, there was a significant difference in anxiety levels between male and female students, with female students showing higher anxiety levels (Mean Rank = 72.08; p = 0.000 < 0.05). It was concluded that gender influences the anxiety levels of junior high school students. Thus, managing psychological aspects through learning strategies that can increase self-confidence and create a conducive learning environment is an important factor in supporting the success of floor gymnastics learning. Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the influence of match-rule mastery and self-confidence on the decision-making of tennis umpires. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was used to objectively analyze the relationships and influences among variables. A total of 30 tennis umpires affiliated with the PELTI Refereeing Committee of West Sumatra Province participated in this study. Data were collected using three questionnaires whose validity and reliability had been tested (α=0.925–0.944). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and linearity tests, and Pearson correlation and linear regression analyses at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that match-rule mastery (M=80.00±2.77) and self-confidence (M=82.57±3.04) were in the good to very good category, while decision-making ability (M=78.27±2.96) was categorized as good. Partially, match-rule mastery had a significant effect on decision-making of 56.20% (R²=0.562; p=0.001), and self-confidence contributed 40.50% (R²=0.405; p=0.000). Simultaneously, the two variables contributed 64.20% (R²=0.642; p=0.000). These findings confirm that the higher the umpires' mastery of match rules and self-confidence, the better their ability to make decisions quickly, accurately, and fairly during a match. The results of this study provide important implications for umpire coaching and training, particularly in enhancing cognitive and psychological aspects to support professional performance. Abstract

This study aimed to examine the differences in self-efficacy levels between professional and amateur esports players. A quantitative approach with a comparative research design was employed. The study involved 100 esports players, consisting of both professional and amateur players, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) developed by Schwarzer and Jerusalem (1995). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an Independent Samples t-test to examine differences in self-efficacy between the two groups. The findings revealed no significant difference in self-efficacy levels between professional and amateur esports players. These results indicate that player status is not a direct factor distinguishing individuals' confidence in their ability to cope with challenges and accomplish tasks within the esports context. In conclusion, self-efficacy can be developed through various factors, including playing experience, social support, and the learning processes acquired by players. Therefore, the development of psychological aspects should receive greater attention in esports training and development programs at all levels of competition to optimize player performance and long-term development. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) model on learning motivation and active participation of junior high school students in handball learning. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design, involving 80 eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Lembang selected through purposive sampling. The learning motivation instrument adapted the Perceived Locus of Causality Questionnaire (PLOCQ), while the active participation instrument adapted the Student Engagement in Schools Questionnaire (SESQ). Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Paired Sample t-Test. The results showed that students' learning motivation increased significantly, from a mean of 56.81 at pretest to 59.01 at posttest (Sig. = 0.001 < 0.05). In contrast, active participation increased from a mean of 101.55 to 102.38, but this increase was not statistically significant (Sig. = 0.330 > 0.05). In conclusion, the TGfU model is effective in improving students' learning motivation but has not yet shown significant effectiveness in improving active participation within a six-session treatment period. The TGfU model can be used as a student-centered alternative in physical education, although its implementation needs to be carried out more consistently and sustainably to optimally develop students' active participation.   Keywords: Active Participation, Handball, Learning Motivation, Teaching Games for Understanding.
