Abstract

Counterproductive work behavior is often associated with work stress, which tends to be more easily experienced by employees with certain personalities. This study aims to see the relationship between personality and counterproductive work behavior mediated by work stress. The subjects of the study were 147 employees in the Pekanbaru government offices. Data were collected using the IPIP-BFM-50 Scale, the Counterproductive Work Behavior Checklist for counterproductive behavior and the work stress scale. Based on the path analysis test with the JASP 0.18.3 program, it is known that work stress fully mediates the effect of extraversion on counterproductive work behavior and partially mediates the effect of neuroticism on counterproductive work behavior. While agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness to change were not related to counterproductive work behavior. This finding can provide an overview for human resource management to consider personality in employees placing in certain types and conditions of work stress to prevent counterproductive behavior. In addition, management can also determine the right program to manage work stress so as to minimize counterproductive behavior.

Abstract

The high prevalence of social media usage in young people go hand in hand with various problems caused, one of which is the problematic social media use (PSMU). This study aims to explore the role of social support in the relationship between PSMU and psychological well-being in young people. The method used is systematic literature review using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines by tracing previous studies related to the research topic. Article searches were conducted through the databases of Pubmed, Sciencedirect, Taylor & Francis, and PsycNet databases with attention to specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results show that social support has a dual role as a mediator as well as a moderator in the relationship between PSMU and psychological well-being. PSMU was found to cause emotional impacts, including depression, anxiety, and psychological distress, as well as social impacts, including social isolation, and loneliness. These findings highlight the need for interventions that strengthen social support and for further research involving young people in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines divorce in East Java through a psychosocial analysis using machine learning and artificial intelligence. This investigation seeks to uncover the determinants that frequently occur in divorce cases. The study utilizes a blended methodology, integrating a review of literature, secondary data analysis from Indonesia’s Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), and qualitative interviews. To forecast divorce, machine learning approaches such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest, Neural Network, and Decision Tree were implemented outcomes based on factors such as economic issues, infidelity, domestic violence, and gambling. The results indicate that continuous disputes and quarrels are the primary causes of divorce, with gambling identified as a significant predictor. The Neural Network model achieved the highest AUC (0.896), while SVM showed potential class bias issues. The study highlights the complex interplay of psychosocial factors in divorce and underscores the importance of addressing these issues through targeted interventions

Abstract

This study examines and explains the relationship between core self-evaluations and work-school conflict in working students. This research uses a quantitative method with correlation tests. The participants of this research were 366 people who were obtained using an accidental sampling technique. The characteristics of participants are active students from undergraduate to doctoral level or equivalent, aged over 18 years, and working actively in an institution. The instruments used were Core Self-Evaluations Scale by Judge et al (2003) and Work-School Conflict Scale by Carlson et al (2000). The Spearman correlation tests show a significant negative relationship between the two variables (r= -.444**). More specific results show a significant relationship between core self-evaluations and two dimensions of work-school conflict. i.e. WIS Conflict (r= -.390**) and SIW Conflict (r= -.418**). Strain-based conflicts were also shown to have more significant correlations than time-based conflicts. In addition, gender and job tenure are also associated with work-school conflict. The implications of this research prove that working students who have better core self-evaluations tend to overcome problems in school and work more easily because they have a sense of better confidence and self-control to overcome situations that put pressure on two domains.

Abstract

Physical apprearance is an important aspect and people generally assess their appearance by comparing themselves with other. Comparing oneself to others can increase the tendency to experience anxiety, especially when one’s appearance is perceived as less attractive than the comparison target or ideal standards in society. This study aimed to observe the roles of self-compassion moderating the relationship between physical appearance comparison and social appearance anxiety in women in the phase of emerging adult. The hypothesis proposed is that self-compassion is able to moderate the relationship between physical appearance comparison and social appearance anxiety. There were 404 women aged in the range of 18-25 years old involved as the subject of this research and the selection of the research subject was conducted using the purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this research was Self-Compassion Scale-Short Form (SCS-SF), Physical Appearance Comparison Scale-Revised (PACS-R), and Social Appearance Anxiety Scale (SAAS). Data analysis was conducted using the Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) by means of JASP program. This research showed that self-compassion can act as the moderator of the relationship between physical appearance comparison and social appearance anxiety in emerging adult women. Self-compassion in  emerging adult women can decrease the negative effect of physical appearance comparison, so that anxiety related to appearance that is felt when interacting in social environment can be minimized.

Abstract

Abstract :Teachers play a significant part in children's learning at kindergarten. It is imperative for teachers to be able to determine innovative teaching methods, one of which is storytelling. Through storytelling, teachers can deliver learning objectives in an effective and positive way. This is why a study was conducted on the effectiveness of storytelling training based on andragogy theory to develop storytelling skills among kindergarten teachers in Jember. Andragogy theory is a significant component of adult learning, as it employs methodologies tailored to the needs of adults. A total of 38 kindergarten teachers participated in this study. A quantitative quasi-experimental approach was used in the research. Pre-test and post-test measurements were obtained through a video task that was scored based on 24 indicators of storytelling competencies indicators. The collected data were then analysed using SPSS 25 for Windows, employing descriptive analysis and the Wilcoxon test for hypothesis testing. The mean score of participants in the pre-test was 13.87 (N=38; SD=5.832), and the mean score in the post-test was 18.45 (N=38; SD=4.518). Overall,The Wilcoxon signed-rank test demonstrated that the training effectively improved storytelling competencies in improving storytelling competencies among kindergarten teachers, with p < .001.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of digital parenting on problematic internet use among early childhood children. The participants were 200 mothers of children aged 3–5 years enrolled in early childhood education institutions in Singosari District, Malang Regency. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Internet Parenting Scale (IPS), consisting of 10 items (α = 0.903), and the Problematic Internet Use Questionnaire (PIUQ), consisting of 18 items (α = 0.944). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results revealed that digital parenting had a significant negative effect on problematic internet use among early childhood children (β = -0.772, R² = 0.596, F = 291.710, p < .001). Digital parenting accounted for 59.6% of the variance in problematic internet use, indicating that higher levels of parental guidance, monitoring, and involvement in children's digital activities were associated with lower levels of problematic internet use. These findings suggest that effective digital parenting serves as an important protective factor in preventing problematic internet use during early childhood. The study highlights the importance of strengthening parents’ digital parenting competencies through supervision, guidance, and active engagement in children's technology use to promote healthier digital behaviors from an early age.

Abstract

Hope is an important construct in counseling and psychotherapy research. Hope also served as one of the protective factors that can support vulnerable populations, particularly detainees. However, no empirically tested hope intervention model has been developed for implementation in detention centers (Rutan) or correctional institutions (Lapas). Therefore, the study aimed to develop a preliminary targeted hope intervention model adapted for the context of Rutan and Lapas. This study employed a one-group pretest–posttest design as a preliminary evaluation of the developed intervention model. Of the 25 selected male detainee participants from Class IIA Yogyakarta Detention Center, only 22 were included in the final analysis due to a plausible reason. The research instrument used was the Adult Hope Scale (AHS) developed by Snyder. The Intervention was conducted in four sessions within a single day. The effectiveness analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The findings indicate that the overall hope enhancement intervention was significant in increasing hope levels (p=0.005). However, when examined by dimensions, a significant improvement was observed in agency (p=<0.001), whereas the pathways dimension did not show a significant change (p=0.969).

Abstract

The dominance of the number of private universities in Indonesia does not guarantee that private universities stand out in terms of quality compared to public universities. Final year students need to prepare themselves by increasing their psychological capital to compete in the labour market to reduce the phenomenon of unemployment of undergraduate graduates in Indonesia. The quantitative research method with a correlational research design in this study was used to analyze the role of psychological capital, consisting of the dimensions of hope, optimism, self-efficacy, and resilience, on self-perceived employability in final year students at private universities. Participants were selected based on predetermined criteria, namely undergraduate students at least currently in semester 8 at private universities with a total of 205 participants. The Student Self-Perceived Employability Scale and The Compound Psychological Capital Scale were adapted into Indonesian so that it could be used in this study. Based on multiple linear regression analysis, the results showed that hope, self-efficacy, and resilience positively and significantly predicted self-perceived employability among final-year students at private universities, while optimism did not show a significant effect. These findings highlight the importance of fostering psychological capital through both individual effort and institutional support. Collaborative programs between universities, industries, and related institutions that nurture students’ hope, self-efficacy, resilience, goal setting, and perseverance can further strengthen their employability and readiness to thrive in the dynamic labor market.

Abstract

Abstract:Working mothers who juggle dual roles often experience conflict between work demands and family responsibilities, which significantly influences their intention to leave their jobs. This study focuses on exploring the simultaneous effects of spousal support and work-family conflict on the turnover intention of working mothers in the city of Semarang. The study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. Purposive sampling was used to ensure the sample of 195 respondents met the established criteria. The measurement tools included scales for Spousal Support, Work-Family Conflict, and Turnover Intention. Data analysis utilized multiple linear regression in SPSS version 27 for Windows. The regression test results showed that the simultaneous effect of the research variables on turnover intention was 39,8%. Spousal support has a negative effect on turnover intention of -0.374, while work-family conflict has a significant positive effect on turnover intention of 0.939. The findings confirm the important role of spousal support in reducing the impact of work-family conflict on turnover intention and strengthening personal resilience and employee retention and the retention of quality employees in the company. Practically, these results have implications for companies in Semarang to develop family-friendly policies such as work flexibility, family support programs, and a supportive organizational culture to retain female employees and reduce turnover intention levels.
