Abstract

Background: Kaempferia parviflora (Black ginger) has phytochemical compounds such as flavonoids, terpenoids, essential oils, and phenols that have the potential to treat various diseases. To maximize the total extracted flavonoids needs to optimize the extraction duration. Objective: Knowing the optimum maceration duration on the total flavonoid content using the UV-VIS Spectrophotometric method on black ginger ethanol extract.Method: Black ginger is extracted using the maceration method with ethanol (70%) solvent in maceration duration of 12, 24, 36,48, and 60 hours. The extract will be tested qualitatively and quantitative to determine the total levels of flavonoids using the UV-Vis Spectrophotometric method.Result: Qualitative test of black ginger ethanol extract gave positive results for flavonoids, phenolics, alkaloids, steroids, and tannins. The total level of flavonoids in black ginger ethanol extract was 7,8988  0,1223 mgEQ/g (12 hours); 8,5705  0,1529 mgEQ/g (24 hours); 9,8102  0,0416 mgEQ/g (36 hours); 10,6161  0,0768 mgEQ/g (48 hours); 7,2594  0,1244 mgEQ/g (60 hours). The statistical analysis indicates a significant difference (p < 0,05) in the total flavonoid content at each maceration time. Conclusion: The duration of maceration time significantly affects the total flavonoid content produced with the optimum maceration time results at 48 hours

Abstract

Background: Striae gravidarum happens during the 18th week to the 32nd week in pregnant women, this is as a result of over distance of abdominal wall. Striae Gravidarum inextricably linked with relaxin hormone. Human chorionic gonadotropin will increase the secretion of relaxin. Secretion of this hormone will decrease following the 24th week, consequently the risk of developing Striae gravidarum becomes higher. It may result in itch, in the worst case of Striae gravidarum itching. Objective: To determine the influence of Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis Miller) usage on itch reduction in pregnant women with striae gravidarum. Methods: Using a one-group pretest-posttest design methodology, this study employed a quasi-experiment design. Thirty responders were among the samples. This study took place in May 2023. Itching score was measured using VAS. Paired T-test was used for data analysis. Results: Average of itching frequency prior to the use of aloe vera was 8.27, upon the use of aloe vera its average was 2.97cc. The mean of measurement difference before and after was 5.3.Conclusion: The application of aloe vera demonstrates efficacy in alleviating itching in expectant mothers experiencing striae gravidarum

Abstract

Background: Inadequate sleep and poor quality could interfere with the elderly health. The number of elderly people with sleep quality problems will be much larger, more serious, and more complex. One way to overcome sleep quality is non-pharmacological therapy, one of which using lavender aromatherapy. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of lavender aromatherapy to the sleep quality of elderly at a Nursing Home. Methods: This research used a quasy experiment with a purpossive sampling design. Sample 32 elderly was divided into 2 groups, intervention and control groups. Data obtained used a translate of PSQI questionnaire. The intervention groups was given the lavender aromatherapy for 5 days. Data analyzed for the univariate and bivariate used a Mann-Whitney test. Results: Score of sleep quality in the intervention group pretest was 9.13 and posttest was 4.69. The score were decrease approximately 4,44 point. Whereas in the control group pretest was 9.19 and posttest was 8.13. The bivariate analysis for pre and post test data in intervention group revealed that the p-value was 0.001 (<α=0.05).Conclusion: Lavender aromatherapy significantly effect the sleep quality of elderly in a nursing home

Abstract

Background: The Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of 2017 IDHS data in Jakarta stagnated at 2.2, which has not yet reached the TFR target of 2.1. Objective: To investigate the variables associated with the stagnation of TFR decline in Jakarta based on the 2017 Jakarta IDHS data. Methods: Cross-sectional design, source of secondary data came from the 2017 IDHS fertility data of DKI Jakarta Province. Sample data of women of childbearing age, 883 samples. Independent variables: characteristics (age, education, occupation, decision maker), reproductive services (source of family planning services, media about family planning) and reproductive behavior (age at first active sexual intercourse, family planning method, use of health insurance, opinion about number of children). Data analysis was conducted up to the multivariate. Results: There was an association between age (p=0.000), education (p=0.028), decision maker (p=0.000), source of family planning services (p=0.000), age of sexual activity (p=0.008), contraceptive method (p=0.000) and opinion on number of children (p=0.000) with stagnation of TFR decline. Multivariate analysis: The OR value (2.331) was highest for the variable opinion about having more than two children. Conclusion: Factors that lead to stagnation of TFR decline in Jakarta were most at risk in the variable women of child bearing age opinion about having more than two children. Education is needed to raise awareness about the perception of ideal child value

Abstract

Background: Midwives as providers of continuous midwifery care have a strategic position to play a role in efforts to overcome reducing MMR and IMR. An important aspect of continuous midwifery care is developing a quality relationship between midwives and women that will increase client satisfaction with the care provided. Continuity models of midwifery care have been proven beneficial to women and babies and are highly recommended by WHO as one important factor when it comes to creating a positive birth experience. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine how women's satisfaction as an indicator of a positive experience in sustainable midwifery care in PurwakartaMethods: This research is a Quasi Experimental with Posttest-Only approach with Non-Equivalent Groups Design. The experimental group was pregnant women up to the postpartum period who received continuous midwifery care while the comparison group was women who did not receive continuous midwifery care. Data analysis in this study used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. Results: There was an association between client satisfaction and continuous midwifery care, both in pregnancy, labor and postpartum period (p value <0.05).Conclusion: Women who received continuous midwifery care had higher satisfaction and positive experiences.

Abstract

Background: PT X,company served custom-made prosthesis orthosis (PO). It has revealed that significant number of PO at PT X operate in non-ergonomic work environments with awkward postures during their work. Objective: This study aims to evaluate PO working posture in connection with their workstations with primary goal of addressing question Methods: Descriptive observational design with cross-sectional approach using total sampling. Research variables are musculoskeletal complaints; were assessed with Nordic Body Questionnare, and work postures; analized with RULA and REBA. Results: Rectification, assembly, grinding, cutting thermoplast sheets, chipping positive cast, and separating plastic from positive cast are workstations which have been identified as significant contributors to musculoskeletal injuries. All activities in those areas are done in standing position. Conclusion: In all activities, PO typically maintain standing posture for extended durations. This has led to development of musculoskeletal injuries required appropriate treatment. It is recommended to improve PO positions during working and enhance their workstations accordingly
