Abstract

Penelitian kualitatif berbasis studi kasus ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengalaman dan pemaknaan atas kedukaan yang dialami kelompok lanjut usia dalam menghadapi kematian anggota keluarga terdekat yang disebabkan oleh pandemi Covid-19. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah dua orang lansia perempuan yang kehilangan anggota keluarga terdekat akibat pandemi Covid-19. Hasil studi ini menunjukkan bahwa peristiwa kedukaan yang dialami individu dapat dimaknai secara berbeda. Pengalaman, pemaknaan dan strategi koping yang digunakan juga berubah seiring dengan penambahan usia. Hasil studi ini dapat dirangkum dalam tiga tema besar yaitu, individu lanjut usia cenderung fokus pada restoration orientation pada tahap awal kematian terjadi, perasaan menyesal yang muncul atas peristiwa kematian yang terjadi di situasi Covid-19, dan kepercayaan atas ajaran agama membantu pemaknaan kematian secara adaptif. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat membantu meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat dalam menghadapi fenomena kedukaan yang terjadi secara masif akibat pandemi Covid-19 secara spesifik pada kelompok yang paling rentan yaitu kelompok lanjut usia.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Mindfulness and Religious Coping Program on the Post-Pandemic Quality of Life for older people at the Tresna Werdha Social Home in Yogyakarta. This research uses research methods, namely descriptive quantitative and qualitative approaches, with the research design using one group pretest-posttest design. This study's population was older people at Werdha Social Home in Yogyakarta. Researchers used purposive sampling as a subject-determination technique to obtain subjects in this study. The number of subjects in this study was 44 people. This is done because of the unique characteristics of the subject. The measuring instrument used in this research is an adaptation of the Quality of Life and Religious Coping scales. Data analysis in this study used a Paired Sample T-Test. The research results show that the Mindfulness program positively affects Mindfulness and Religious Coping for Post-Pandemic Quality of Life in older people at the Tresna Werdha Social Home. The results obtained are a t value of -0.942 with a significance value (Sig(2-tailed)) of 0.352, which means the value is more significant than 0.05 (p>0.05).

Abstract

This research was motivated by a field phenomenon related to the decline in student achievement motivation in school caused by insufficient parental social support and some students' lower achievement motivation. This study aims to reveal the level of parental social support and student achievement motivation and the influence of parental social support on achievement motivation in students of SMA Negeri 8 Jambi City. Achievement motivation is the drive that exists in individuals to continue to do everything successfully to achieve the standards of excellence set. This research is a type of quantitative research using ex post facto methods. , Validity and reliability tests were carried out to determine the instrument's accuracy using questionnaire data collection techniques. Theme time, the data analysis technique uses formula C formula, normality test, linearity test, and simple regression at-tests and t-tests with the help of the SPSS 25 program. The sampling technique uses Stratified random sampling with a sample of 124 students. The results showed that, in general, the influence of social support of parents of students was at a high level, with a percentage of 61.33%, and achievement motivation was at a moderate level, with a rate of 58.9%. The results also showed that based on the results of the hypothesis, a significant value of 0.000<0.05 and a calculated value of > ttable or 10.962> 0.1472 were known, which means that the research hypothesis was proven to be accurate, namely that there was an influence of parental social support on the achievement motivation of SMA Negeri 8 Jambi City students.

Abstract

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that targets the human immune system. Pregnancy accompanied by HIV carries the risk of transmission from the mother to the infant, both during gestation, during the birthing process, and through breastfeeding. Women infected with HIV during pregnancy undergo physical, psychological, and social changes. This study aimed to explore and understand the experiences and meanings attributed by participants to their lives after receiving a positive HIV diagnosis during pregnancy. The study employed a generic qualitative approach, analyzing data through inductive thematic analysis. Data collection was conducted through online semi-structured interviews with three participants meeting the following criteria: (1) women aged 26-33 years; (2) having experienced pregnancy and being diagnosed with HIV positive. The results of the study revealed five main themes that elucidate the processes and meanings of life for the participants, including 1) Frustration towards the "tragic event"; 2) "Coming Out" as an effort toward self-acceptance as people living with HIV; 3) Social support providing strength for people living with HIV; 4) Self-acceptance as a source of meaning in life; and 5) Living with HIV is an endless struggle.

Abstract

School counselors must have counseling self-efficacy. High self-efficacy in counseling allows school counselors to provide high-quality counseling services, increase the sense of achievement, feel more involved with work, and be confident in their ability to do counseling. Despite the importance of counseling self-efficacy for school counselors, insufficient counseling self-efficacy measurement tools in Indonesia are available. So far, one available self-efficacy measuring tool with good psychometric properties that has been adopted for various countries is the Counseling Self-estimate Inventory (COSE) instrument. However, COSE has not been adapted to the Indonesian language. Due to the rarity of self-efficacy tools for school counselors, this study aims to adapt the COSE instrument to the Indonesian language. The analysis was carried out through reliability and validity tests. The results of the adapted COSE scale into Bahasa Indonesia (for school counselors) were deemed reliable, where each dimension’s reliability is above  0,70. The validity of the adapted COSE scale used content validity with a qualitative method by conducting forward and backward translation processes.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence, interest in learning, and elementary school students' understanding of natural disasters in Labuan District. The research was conducted at five public schools in Labuan District, namely SDN Teluk 1, SDN Teluk 2, SDN Teluk 3, SDN Labuan 1, and SDN Cigondang 2, with a sample size of 300 students. This research uses a quantitative approach with survey methods. Hypothesis testing is carried out using multiple regression tests. The research results concluded that: 1) There is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence (X1) and understanding of natural disasters (Y) of elementary school students in Labuan District. The Sig value can prove this. = 0.000 < 0.05 and t0 = 7.269; 2) There is a significant relationship between interest in learning (X2) and understanding of natural disasters (Y) of elementary school students in Labuan District. The Sig value can prove this. = 0.000 < 0.05 and t0 = 11.202; 3) There is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence (X1) and interest in learning (X2), together with the understanding of natural disasters (Y) of elementary school students in Labuan District. The Sig value can prove this. = 0.000 < 0.05 and Fo = 551.907.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterkaitan antara motivasi belajar dan student engagement dengan perilaku menyontek siswa. Jenis penelitian kuantintatif korelasional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 10, 11, dan 12 sejumlah 260 sampel dari 792 populasi. Pengumpulan data menggunakan skala likert motivasi belajar, student engagement, dan skala perilaku menyontek. Hasil penelitian menggambarkan dominan dikategori tinggi 61,08% dan rendah 38,92%. Hasil uji hipotesis membuktikan semakin tinggi motivasi belajar dan student engagement siswa maka akan semakin rendah tingkatan perilaku menyontek yang akan ditunjukkan. Uji linier berganda menunjukkan nilai sebesar 86,8% yang diberikan oleh motivasi belajar dan student engagement  secara bersama-sama terhadap perilaku menyontek, serta hasil uji F motivasi belajar dan student engagemen dengan perilaku menyontek menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan dengan arah negatif. Kesimpulannya hasil tersebut menunjukkan secara simultan motivasi belajar dan student engagement dapat memberikan dampak negatif yang signifikan terhadap perilaku menyontek siswa.

Abstract

This study examines the psychological well-being of Indonesian pre-service English teachers, considering non-native speakers during their teaching practice. Well-being is defined from eudaimonic and hedonic perspectives, emphasizing self-actualization, positive relationships, emotions, satisfaction, and happiness. Pre-service teachers face challenges in managing emotions, establishing student relationships, and language anxiety. Forty-eight Indonesian pre-service English teachers completed questionnaires, and 10 underwent in-depth semi-structured interviews. Findings revealed a high level of psychological well-being among the pre-service teachers, with positive scores in autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, self-acceptance, purpose in life, and positive relations. However, language anxiety impacted their confidence in English communication compared to native speakers. Significant transitions, professional domains, emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, and language anxiety were identified as factors influencing their well-being. Preparing pre-service teachers mentally, emotionally, and intellectually to handle teaching demands is crucial. Improving psychological well-being can enhance teaching performance and student outcomes. While specific to Indonesia, this study calls for further research in diverse educational settings to inform strategies for supporting pre-service teacher well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the correlation between celebrity worship of the idol group Blackpink and the body image of Blackpink fans (Blink). Celebrity worship is a phenomenon that happens because of human interaction with social media, and body image is a self-image that a person owns. There were 216 subjects in this study with an age range of 15-24 years. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. This study collected data using the Celebrity Attitude Scale (CAS) and The Multidimensional Body-Self Relation Questionnaire-Appearance Scale (MBSRQ-AS). Data analysis used the Spearman correlation test. The results of the data analysis showed that the social entertainment dimension of celebrity worship showed a significant positive relationship with body image (r = 0.217, p <0.05). Then, the dimension of intense personal feeling from celebrity worship also shows a significant positive relationship with body image (r = 0.243, p <0.05). The last dimension, borderline pathological celebrity worship, also shows a significant positive relationship with body image (r = 0.260, p <0.05). It can be concluded that celebrity worship has a relationship with body image.

Abstract

Environmental differences are one of the difficulties faced by overseas students. Individuals need to adapt hard to be able to compensate. When the conditions in the new environment are not successful, it will cause many negative responses, such as being dissatisfied with life, experiencing high negative emotions, and experiencing low positive emotions. The response to this situation is known as culture shock. This negative response can lower the level of subjective well-being in individuals. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between culture shock and the subjective well-being of overseas students. This research involved 174 overseas students aged 18-25 years. This research uses the satisfaction with life scale (SWLS), positive effect negative affect schedule (PANAS) scale, and culture shock scale. The research data were analyzed using the data collection method based on the Likert scale and analyzed using the product-moment correlation. The results of the correlation analysis showed that there was a negative relationship between culture shock and subjective well-being in overseas students, with a correlation value (rxy) of r=0.228 and p=0.002 (p <0.05). This shows that the hypothesis in the study is accepted. These findings indicate that culture shock can affect the subjective well-being of overseas students.
