Abstract

Background: Children with spastic cerebral palsy generally experience spasticity in the upper and lower extremities. Spasticity is stiffness that occurs due to damage to the central nervous system caused during the child's growth and development from prenatal to postnatal. Spasticity can be controlled with intervention. The purpose of this study is to analyze, and estimate the effectiveness of massage for spasticity in children with cerebral palsy.Subjects and Method: This study uses a meta-analysis study design with PICO as follows: P= children with cerebral palsy, I= massage, C= non massage, O= Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS). The article search process was carried out between 2000-2020 using databases from PubMed, Google Scholar, PEDro, NCBI. Based on the database, there were 9 articles that met the inclusion criteria. This study involved 817 articles. The analysis was performed using Review Manager software (RevMan 5.3).Results A total of 9 Randomized Control Trial (RCT) studies from Europe, America, Asia and Africa were selected for systematic review and meta-analysis. COVID-19 patients receiving Ivermectin therapy decreased the duration of hospital stay by 1.52 units compared to standard therapy and this result was statistically significant (SMD= -1.52; 95% CI= -2.34 to -0.70; p= 0.003).Conclusion: Ivermectin can reduce the duration of hospital stay for COVID-19 patients.Keywords: Massage, cerebral palsy, Modified Ashworth Scale, meta analisisCorrespondence: Salma Muazarroh. Abstract

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a joint disease that affects adults to the elderly in which the incidence and prevalence of OA will increase with age. One of the interventions to reduce pain for improving the quality of life in patients with knee osteoarthritis is by providing aquatic therapy. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of aquatic therapy for pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis.Subjects and Method: It was a metaanalysis study using PICO. P: patients with knee osteoarthritis. I: aquatic therapy. C: nonaquatic therapy. O: reduced pain. The articles used in this study were obtained from several databases namely Google Scholar, PubMed, NCBI, Science Direct, and Springer Link. The keywords used were "osteoarthritis knee" OR "OA knee" AND "aquatic" OR "aquatic physiotherapy" OR "aquatic therapy" OR "aquatic exercise" OR "hydrotherapy" AND "quality of life" OR "QOL" AND "pain" and "RCT" or "randomized control trial". The article included in this study was a fulltext article with a Randomized Controlled Trial study design. The Review Manager 5.3 application was used to analyze articles. Results from the metaanalysis were reported using the PRISMA flow diagram.Results: A total of 9 articles that had been analyzed were from Spain, Thailand, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, and Italy. Studies show that elderly with knee osteoarthritis who obtained aquatic therapy experienced lower pain by 0.62 units than those who did not obtain aquatic therapy thus improving the quality of life, and this effect was claimed to be statistically significant (SMD = 0.62; CI 95% 1.13 to 0.11; p <0.001).Conclusion: Aquatic therapy reduces pain and has an impact on improving quality of life.Keywords: aquatic therapy, knee osteoarthritis, pain, quality of life.Correspondence: Ahdiyat Ananta Rachmat, Study Program of Physiotherapy, Faculty of Health Science, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Abstract

Background: The anxiety felt by patients undergoing hemodialysis can decrease the quality of life, cause a sleep disorder, and even aggravate the disease. Acupressure, hypnotherapy, or hypnopressure have minimal side effects and are easy to do in reducing anxiety. The study aims to analyze the different effects of acupressure, hypnotherapy, and hypnopressure in reducing anxiety in patients undergoing hemodialysis programs.Subjects and Method: It was an experimental study using a randomized controlled trial. It was conducted at Dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta, Central Java. The number of study subjects from March 2021 - July 2022 was 300 patients undergoing the hemodialysis program, with 75 subjects obtaining acupressure intervention, 75 subjects obtaining hypnotherapy intervention, 75 subjects obtaining hypnopressure intervention, and 75 subjects obtaining standard/control treatment. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The dependent variables in this study were acupressure, hypnotherapy, and hypnopressure, while the independent variable was the anxiety of patients who underwent a hemodialysis program for less than a year or less than 10 times. Anxiety was tested using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using an independent t-test, with the SPSS statistics program.Results: Post-acupressure anxiety score (Mean= 17.31; SD= 3.22) was lower than pre-acupressure (Mean= 23.17; SD= 2.68) and the result was statistically significant (p<0.001). Post-hypnotherapy anxiety score (Mean= 15.13; SD= 2.83) was lower than pre-hypnotherapy (Mean= 23.09; SD= 2.38), and the result was statistically significant (p<0.001). anxiety score after hypnopressure (Mean= 12.64; SD= 2.23) was lower than before hypnopressure (Mean= 23.13; SD= 2.53) and the result was statistically significant (p<0.001).Conclusion: Hypnopressure is more effective in lowering anxiety in patients undergoing a hemodialysis program.Keywords: anxiety, acupressure, hypnotherapy, hypnopressure, hemodialysisCorrespondence: Hanung Prasetya. Abstract

Background: Osteoarthritis is a disorder of the moving joints. Pain functioning are the main complaints of the disease osteoarthritis of the knee. The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of a combination of quadricep exercise and hip abductor exercise on pain in knee among osteoarthritis patients.Subjects and Method: The study was carried out at the East Java Regional Hospital for the period of December 2022 to March 2023. The study population was knee joint osteoarthritis patients of degree 1 to degree 2. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling, with inclusion and exclusion criteria. The number of samples in quantitative research was 60 respondents. The dependent variable is pain, while the independent variable is quadriceps exercise and hip abductor exercise. The instrument used is the WOMAC questionnaire. Analysis of the study was using the Wilcoxon test and the Mann Whitney test.Results: There was a significant difference in pain between the control and intervention groups after conducting a combination of quadriceps exercises and hip abductor exercises (p=0.043)Conclusion: The combination of quadriceps exercise and hip abductor exercise is effective on pain reduction in knee osteoarthritis patients.Keywords: quadriceps, hip abductor, osteoarthritis.Correspondence: Dia Metasari. Abstract

Background: Sentul fruit peel extract has an antibacterial activity since it contains saponin, flavonoid, phenol, and tannin. Hence, it can be utilized in oral infection treatment. The safety level of herbal medicines needs to be studied by using a toxicity test. The study aims to discover the toxicity of Sentul fruit peel extract.Subjects and Method: The study was conducted in the laboratory of the Faculty of Food Technology of Warmadewa University and the laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of Warmadewa University. The independent variables of the study were the various doses of Sentul peel extract administered orally. The dependent variable was an acute toxicity test. The toxicity test in mice used an experimental study design in the laboratory that was observed qualitatively and quantitatively. The animals used were 25 male white mice (Mus musculus) and were divided into 5 groups. Data were collected based on the results of examinations from the laboratory and subsequently analyzed qualitatively and descriptively.Results: Based on the results of the LD50 Toxicity Test on Mice, Sentul peel extract samples did not cause toxic symptoms in the form of decreased heart activity, convulsions, decreased movement activity, and slow breathing. The administration of Sentul peel extract was categorized as non-toxic because mice do not experience abnormal symptoms and there was no death after the administration of the extract using the oral gavage method at all doses for 14 days, thus Sentul peel extract was safe to use as a medicinal ingredient.Conclusion: Sentul peel extract is categorized as non-toxic because mice do not experience abnormal symptoms and no death occurs.Keywords: Sentul peel, extraction, oral infection, mice, toxicityCorrespondence: I Nyoman Wirata, Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health Denpasar. Abstract

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MS) impacts on inhibition process of spermatogenesis by damaging various components of cell cycle proteins. Cyclin D1 protein which plays role in regulating the cell cycle of spermatogenic cells is depleted due to the metabolic syndrome. Variation results of M. oleifera studies on fertility are interesting for further research. This study aimed to determine the effect of ethanolic extract of M. oleifera roots towards expression of testicular cyclin D1 of metabolic syndrome induced Wistar rats.Subjects and Method: This study was an experimental laboratory. Thirty subjects of male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 5 groups consisted of 6 rats, control group (K1), MS group (K2), and treatment groups (K3, K4, and K5) which were given doses of 150, 250, and 350 mg/kgBW, respectively for 28 days. Induction of MS was achieved by high-fat diet for 28 days and injection of streptozotocin-nicotinamide (STZ-NA) on day 25. Cyclin D1 data was calculated using Intensity Distribution Score (IDS) and analyzed using one-way ANOVA test followed by post hoc multiple comparisons with Tukey HSD. Simple liniar regression test conducted on cyclin D1 data of K2, K3, K4, and K5.Results: One-way ANOVA test showed that the administration of ethanolic extract M. oleifera Lam. roots with doses of 150, 250, and 350 mg/kgBW in 28 days increased cyclin D1 significantly (p= 0.000). There were significant differences between K1 and K2 (p= 0.000), K2 and K3 (p= 0.000), K2 and K4 (p= 0.000), K2 and K5 (P= 0.000). Liniar regression test showed significant (p= 0.000) and moderate effect (R2= 0.65) of doses of ethanolic extract of M. oleifera roots on the expression of cyclin D1.Conclusion: The administration of ethanolic extract Moringa oleifera Lam. roots with doses of 150, 250, and 350 mg/kgBW for 28 days increased cyclin D1 in testicular rats.

Abstract

Background: Women's Empowerment is an integral part of human rights and development because the value system leads to the development of a good family, community, and country. Empowerment of women can have important implications for health in the form of education, access, and change in terms of services and family welfare. This systematic review aims to determine the influence and model of empowerment of women in the health sector.Subjects and Method:  This systematic review begins with searching data using 5 databases with keywords women’s empowerment, women’s health, and empowerment model. Researchers used five databases, PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, Springer Link, and BMC with a range of 2017-2022. Articles were searched using keywords that had been determined by the researcher then the articles were extracted based on criteria inclusion and exclusion using the PRISMA protocol. Thus, 11 articles were found that matched the criteria of JBI's critical assessment tool for analysis.Results:  A total of 11 studies were included in the analysis originating from several countries such as Iran, Australia, and the Netherlands. Empowerment of women is a multilevel construction that refers to individuals, organizations, and society. Women's empowerment needs to involve mutual respect, critical reflection, caring and group participation, where people gain greater access to and control over their resources.Conclusion:  Factors that influence women's empowerment are age, education, occupation, religion, marital status, socio-economic, demographics, different behavior, special characteristics of society, household harmony, place of residence, mobility, decision-making, social life, media exposure, information technology, socio-culture and access to health services. Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a non-communicable disease based on increased pathologies such as RAS, inflammation, and oxidative stress. Bamboo shoot extract contains BSP, phenol, and flavonoids that can reduce inflammatory status, oxidative stress, and ACE. The study aims to determine the effect of bamboo shoot extract on decreased blood pressure and TNF-α in male Wistar Rats made hypertensive.Subjects and Method: This study used a True Experimental Design with the Posttest Only Control Group Design. The study was located at the Integrated Biomedical Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, Sultan Agung Islamic University, Semarang in April-July 2021. The study sample of 24 male Wistar Rats was randomly divided into 4 groups. The dependent variables of the study were Blood pressure and TNF-α. The independent variable was bamboo shoot extract. Blood pressure was measured by Pressure Recording Tail Cuff, and TNF-α was measured by using the ELISA method with CATALOG Number KET 9007-48 well. The data were analyzed by using the One Way Anova Test.Results: This study showed no significant difference from systolic or diastolic blood pressure results of male Wistar rats in the K1, K2, and K3 groups after the intervention. Meanwhile, the average levels of TNF-α decreased significantly in the K3 group (Mean= 1.99; SD= 1.13) compared with the control group K0 (Mean= 16.70; SD= 7.45) and it was statistically significant p<0.001.Conclusion: There is no significant effect on blood pressure in male Wistar rats that obtained bamboo shoot extract, but there is a significant effect on TNF-α levels in male wistar rats that obtained bamboo shoot extract.Keywords: bamboo shoots, hypertension, blood pressure, TNF-α, male wistar rat.Correspondence: Surati. Abstract

Background:  Social restriction and distancing were enforced, to contain the viral transmission of Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19). Therefore, normal social activities are stagnant and give rise to common mental disorders (CMDs) in pregnant women, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of social support with COVID-related common mental disorders (CMDs) in pregnant women in Banyumas Regional General Hospital.Subjects and Method:  A observational analytic study using a Cross-sectional study approach targeting pregnant women in the Banyumas Regency Central Java, from May to December 2022. The independent variable is social support. The dependent variable is common mental disorders (CMDs). The sampling technique used snowball sampling of approximately 1543 respondents. This study employed the WHO-SSQ-6 and WHO-SRQ-20 questionnaires. Abstract

Background:  Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a widespread surgical procedure for severe arthritis. By 2030, primary TKA would reach over 1.2 million procedures annually in the United States. In Indonesia, the prevalence of joint disease is about 19.5 million cases. This study aims to evaluate the clinical demographics characteristics of TKA in Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital, Bali, Indonesia.Subjects and Method:  This is a descriptive study using a Cross-Sectional method with a total 57 adult patients undergoing TKA caused by Osteoarthritis grade III/IV in Prof IGNG Ngoerah Hospital from June 2020-June 2022. The dependent variable is the TKA procedure. Independent Variable is Age, gender, grade of knee osteoarthritis, comorbidities, and complications Data from the medical record was collected and stored in a Microsoft Office Excel 365 spreadsheet, the distributive table was analyzed and collected by using SPSS.Results:  Patient characteristic is dominated by an elderly female (84.2%), with age group 61-70 (38.6%). Comorbidities in this study include hypertension (28.1%), type II diabetes (10.5%), and rheumatoid disease (1.8%). The main complication recorded in this study includes joint stiffness (3.5%), and persistent pain (5.3%).Conclusion:  After Total Knee Arthroplasty was performed on 57 patients with a wide range of comorbidities, only a small number of complications occurred.
