Abstract

The concept of play is currently understood by teachers, but the practice of play in ECE is different and emphasizes calistung-oriented (reading, writing, and counting). Therefore, it is necessary to reflect on the concept of play by the teacher so that it can support early childhood play practice. The concept of play This article is aimed to explore the concept of play that ECE teachers understand through play pedagogy. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method through interviews and grounded theory analysis. The results of the study show that the teachers have an understanding of playing. However, in its implementation, the teachers consider several factors that cause learning to focus on activities to introduce reading, writing and counting. Factors influencing it include the teacher's academic qualifications and parents' demands. Parents demand that their children be academically successful and have calistung (reading, writing and counting) skills. So the concept of play for teachers is essential to support the calistung skills and early childhood development. Therefore, a teacher guidance program is needed to help teachers understand the implementation of play pedagogy in ECE. And the impact of this research is expected to be able to increase the pedagogical competence of teachers in restoring the nature of early childhood which cannot be separated from their playing activities.

Abstract

Teaching creatively and teaching for creativity are two critical things in implementing the concept of teaching creativity. This study aims to find out whether teachers tend to teach creatively or teach for creativity. A quantitative approach using the survey method was chosen to see trends in the teaching abilities of early childhood teachers. Seventy-six teachers of Early Childhood Education (PAUD) in Malang City participated in this study. Quantitative data were processed using non-parametric statistics, the Wilcoxon test. The findings in the study show that teachers are more likely to teach creatively than teach for creativity, although, in general, the teachers in this study also have high scores in teaching for creativity. The main obstacle for teachers in implementing a teaching for creativity is the ability to identify creative students, encourage creativity and facilitate student creativity. Additional policies are needed to facilitate teacher teaching for creativity, especially in identifying, encouraging, and facilitating student creativity.

Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of measurement game tools on early childhood problem-solving abilities. The method used in this study is pre-experimental design with the design of the one-shot case study. This study was conducted on children aged (3-4) years at Rumah Belajar Ceria Palembang with a sample of 12 children. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques are carried out with observation techniques to see children's problem-solving abilities. The data analysis used in this study used inferential statistics. The normality test is performed using the Shapiro Wilk Test and the homogeneity test is performed using the Hartley Test. Hypothesis testing shows that the results of the One Sample T-test have a significant value of 0.357. According to the criterion if a significant value 0.05 means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the Measurement Game Tool can have an influence on the problem-solving ability of children aged (3-4) years at Rumah Belajar Ceria Palembang. This research can provide input to social institutions engaged in education to pay more attention to facilities that can help optimize the learning process, so that children do not experience delays in reaching the stage of developmental achievement according to their age.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the intercorrelation between various components of early childhood education (PAUD) quality. The PAUD quality components were reviewed based on the 8 National PAUD Standards (SNP-AUD). The study was conducted on 43 PAUD institutions in the districts of Manggarai, West Manggarai, and East Manggarai. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of 50 questions that covered various scopes of SNP-AUD. Each question's response was measured on a Likert scale and accompanied by a description of each level based on the substance of the instrument's statement. Data were analyzed using Path Analysis techniques. The study's results showed that the Teacher and Education Personnel standard was a significant determinant factor in determining children's growth and development, with a determinant coefficient of 83.7%. However, this factor's determination was not direct but through its correlation with other factors within the process component. Therefore, efforts to improve PAUD teacher qualifications, competencies, and quality need to be done simultaneously and comprehensively with various aspects that determine PAUD process quality, such as improving the ability to develop and design a contextual curriculum, improving pedagogical abilities and learning strategies, as well as improving the ability to accurately and meaningfully assess children's development.
