Abstract

This rapid technological development needs to be addressed wisely regarding the millennial generation. One of them is knowing the character and mindset of the millennial generation. This community service aims to provide new insights and knowledge for teachers and specifically for students to recognize basic characters. Character education is one of the main discourses in national policies in the field of character education. The entire teaching and learning process must refer to character development and this is something that partners will implement, in this case, SMK Telkom Makassar. The implementation of community service is carried out by two methods, namely the socialization of basic character recognition and Brain Color tests. This socialization consists of introducing basic characters which is also one of the sub-topics in the Technopreneurship Course taught at the Department of Informatics Engineering, Hasanuddin University. And as a solution in solving partner problems, a brain color test is carried out to identify the personality color of each student. The results of each student's Brain Color model can be used as a reference in developing teaching and learning process strategies. This community service was attended by 63 teachers of SMK Telkom through a zoom meeting. The participants were very enthusiastic in participating in this activity, as seen from the questionnaire results, which showed 96% agreed with the implementation of the method introduced. In addition, the participants also hoped that there would be further training related to the introduction of student characters which are important in the learning process at school.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on all levels of society in Indonesia, including coastal communities in the city of Semarang. This community service program is carried out to create hand washing tools without the need to turn the water tap to support a new lifestyle in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, which is still a lot in the city of Semarang. Washing hands with soap is part of adapting a new habit after the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world. The method that we use is the manufacture of hand washing tools with a tread system by students of the marine construction engineering engineering technology study program at the Undip vocational school and hand over the equipment to the management of the Perpustakaan Pesisir Teratai 414 in Tambak Mulya, North Semarang District. The method used in this program is the design and manufacture of hand washing equipment with a stomp mechanism. The results of this program show that the community around the library is easier to move there without worrying about not being able to carry out the health protocol, which is to always wash their hands. With the implementation of this program, we can see that the need for the provision of hand washing equipment with a tread system is very high to face this critical period.

Abstract

Landslide vulnerability at several locations in South and West Sulawesi requires inspection and evaluation because of the failure of retaining wall structure. Some of the damage that occurs needs to be handled with technical evaluation and back analysis to find out the mechanism of the failure through site investigation, data observation from stakeholders. The main purpose of this study is to discuss and facilitated information about retaining wall design to withstand the burden and avoid repeating similar disaster in the next projects. From observations and field facts, the collapse of retaining wall is caused by the dimensions of retaining wall that are too slender so that they are unable to withstand active soil pressure when saturated soil. Retaining walls drainage does not work properly so the soil is easily saturated when it rains. The collapse was caused by the collapse of the wall and the eroding of the retaining wall foundation due to the intrusion of water in the horizontal crack at the meeting of the shoulder of the road and the retaining wall. Disaster risk management begins with the assessment and mapping of disaster risks. Learning to the community and construction service actors in disaster-prone areas is done intensively in order to be able to visually assess the threat. Mitigation efforts are more effective with disaster risk reduction investigations in the form of the implementation of early warning systems that allow relevant parties to detect early damage and make repairs before greater damage occurs.

Abstract

The implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) construction materials mining has not been implemented properly, including at PT Harfia Graha Perkasa. The problem faced is the lack of understanding of the importance of OHS and the potential hazards in the mining work environment both in mining, transportation and processing activities. On the other hand, there is a regulation that every mining activity must have an OHS program and standard, so the main purpose of this community service activity is to provide knowledge and understanding of OHS to mining workers. The method used is an OHS promotion program in the form of information dissemination, identification of potential hazards, and risk control efforts. The level of understanding of workers is measured through pre-test and post-test questionnaires given to 12 respondents. Prior to the initiation of the OHS program, only a total of 30% of all OSH questions were known by the workers, but after the program was carried out it was seen that there was a significant increase in the understanding of mining workers to 90%. The information dissemination program showed very good results where 100% of the information on OHS and 90% of the information on risk control efforts was known by the mine workers. This shows that service activities programs can help initiate the implementation and implementation of OHS in partner companies.

Abstract

The majority of pepper plantations are smallholder plantations that are managed in a traditional way and there is still a lack of technology in the management process at the farmers, as a result the development of pepper cultivation is very slow and even decreased production. Meanwhile, entrepreneurs also find it difficult to process their harvests because the pepper that comes in is mixed with other materials such as soil, peeled off peppercorns, dried leaves, stems, fibers and also some light or mild pepper. The purpose of this activity is to provide an understanding of automation technology to entrepreneurs, workers and farming communities so that pepper production can be optimized according to export quality. The implementation method is divided into 2 parts, the initial part includes the design and design of the sorting and sifting mechanization tools, the last part is the socialization stage that targets the public's understanding of the benefits of the introduced technology as well as the operating capabilities of the equipment. To measure the level of public understanding used pre and post test mechanisms. The results achieved after the pre and post tests were showed an increase in understanding of automation technology and how it used by the community, an increase of around 80%. Meanwhile, the level of understanding for export quality product standards is around 85%. Broadly speaking, public interest shows a positive and enthusiastic change towards the use of this sorting and sifting mechanization tool and in the future it can increase pepper production capabilities in order to streamline post-harvest processing time and export immediately, so that pepper entrepreneurs can meet market demand by utilizing automation system technology so that more efficient and effective.

Abstract

When children learn about architecture, they can build things with their own hands, feel the satisfaction of being a problem solver and creating something great. Collaborating with school teachers, we can encourage visual literacy and explain math, science, social, visual arts and even English concepts to children through various methods to evaluate their learning performance. This introduction to architecture for children took place at the Sekolah Impian, which is a school for children whose parents, on average, work as garbage scavengers in Makassar. The method used is to be directly involved in the learning process, using a combination of contextual and cooperative learning models. Through the introduction of architecture in this lesson, almost all children seemed very enthusiastic in learning because it was filled with activities they enjoyed, such as drawing, coloring, telling stories, and making models. The results of this activity are expected to make architecture a fun and useful active learning medium for school teachers, and to provide a pleasant picture of the architects’ life and/or architecture students so that children are motivated to achieve a better education and life in their future.

Abstract

The Gowa Regency is an area with the rapid development of housing and settlements. Some of the causes are the availability of land that is still a lot, the less space to build in urban areas so that development leads to suburban areas. This provides opportunities for local communities to improve their economy, developers to get opportunities in their business and the government to realize low-cost housing programs. Residentials that are developed independently or held by developers require fast building completion without considering the feasibility of building construction against site conditions, and natural disasters (floods, winds and earthquakes). It is reported that buildings' safety and security cannot be separated from topography and soil conditions, hence the planning must be able to adjust geological and geographical conditions wisely and wisely. The purpose of the activity is socialization to assist the community in responding to the security conditions of houses that are built independently/buy with ready for habitation. Partners are residents of Balang Balang village. The method used is a discussion with the head of the local RT and an initial survey of the condition of the partner buildings is continued to the socialization stage. The output is the concept of the “Disaster Response Building” model as a driver of “Community Awareness regarding the Importance of Security for Residential Building Construction against Disasters. The benefit of the activity is the response of the community to the importance of the safety of residential construction.
