Abstract

Guidance and counseling are assistance services provided for counselees or students and are provided both for individuals and groups to achieve certain goals and develop optimally in personal, social, learning, and career fields. Management is a process that includes planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling in carrying out an activity or program process, which has the aim of controlling the implementation of an event or program from start to finish. As is the case with guidance and counseling programs that require management in its implementation, a complex program makes management indispensable in it to control and structure the program so that it is planned, and runs well in accordance with the objectives of the program formed. The guidance and counseling program that will be discussed includes group, classical, and cross-class guidance programs. Guidance programs that do not only run for one individual but more than individual units and more than group units, therefore management takes a very important role in the implementation of the program. This research aims to identify the role of management in the implementation of guidance and counseling programs, especially in group, classical, and cross-class guidance programs. The method used in this research is qualitative with literature review techniques with a focus on management and group, classical, and cross-class guidance programs. The results obtained in this study show that there is an important role in management in the implementation of classical guidance programs with a focus on group, classical, and cross-class guidance.

Abstract

The role of counselors has become increasingly complex with the advancement of technology and social changes in the modern era. Researchers examine the challenges and opportunities faced by counselors in providing academic, career, and socio-emotional guidance for students. Based on a literature review, it is found that counselors need to develop adaptive skills. Counselors should understand the evolving digital technology, safeguard client data, and uphold higher ethical standards in their practice. Additionally, counselors must continuously update their knowledge through ongoing education and research to enhance the quality of counseling services. This is crucial for preparing a young generation that is mature in independence, emotional management, and decision-making.

Abstract

This study stems from the importance of developing empathy in junior high school students as a foundation for prosocial character building and the prevention of negative behaviors such as bullying. Audio-visual media is considered capable of providing a more meaningful learning experience through a combination of verbal and visual messages that stimulate students' emotional involvement. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of audio-visual media-assisted information services in increasing the empathic attitudes of eighth-grade students at SMP 1 Karanganyar, Demak. The research subjects consisted of 30 eighth-grade E students selected using purposive sampling from a total population of 210 eighth-grade students. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The data collection instrument was an empathy attitude scale that had been tested for validity and reliability (α = 0.87). The results of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores in the experimental group (t = 5.47; p < 0.05), while the control group did not show a significant difference. These findings indicate that audio-visual media-assisted information services are effective in increasing student empathy, with an average score increase of 12.87 points, which is much higher than the control group, which only increased by 1.40 points. The originality of this study lies in the application of audiovisual-based information services in the context of junior high schools with a rigorous quasi-experimental design, thus providing stronger empirical evidence than previous descriptive studies. The implications of this study encourage school counselors to integrate audio-visual media into guidance services, while further research is recommended to test the sustainability of the intervention effects through follow-up tests and expand the subjects in various educational contexts.

Abstract

The phenomenon observed in this study involved children with special needs (ABK) who frequently left the classroom to visit their parents during lessons, disrupting their learning and that of others. Some ABK were distracted by personal activities, while others often missed class altogether, hindering their ability to follow the curriculum. This study aimed to: 1) explore the role of teachers as instructors and classroom counselors in supporting ABK; 2) identify strategies to address ABK learning challenges; 3) understand ABK's perceptions of teacher support; 4) identify barriers faced by teachers; and 5) examine teachers' contributions to the goals of inclusive education. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this study involved 11 students with mild intellectual disabilities. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, and documentation. The study findings revealed that: 1) Teachers play a significant role in providing academic, emotional, and social support while identifying ABK's needs; 2) Effective strategies include individual and group tutoring, adaptive teaching methods, and assistive technology; 3) ABK positively perceive teacher support across academic, emotional, and social domains; 4) Teachers face challenges such as managing student behavior, lack of family involvement, and limited training; 5) Teacher contributions include collaboration with parents and schools, fostering a supportive environment, and developing teaching methods. The study concluded that inclusive education in special schools (SLB) supports the learning of children with special needs. Recommendations emphasize optimizing counseling services to enhance the holistic development of children with special needs.

Abstract

The digital era presents new challenges for parents, particularly in managing children's gadget use and emotional regulation. This study explores the impact of reinforcement and punishment strategies on children's emotional regulation abilities in the digital age. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 15 parents of children aged 7–12 years in urban areas. Thematic analysis identified patterns in parenting strategies and their influence on children's emotional regulation. Findings show that positive reinforcement, such as rewards for good behavior, fosters adaptive emotional management. Conversely, punishment, while effective in correcting behavior, may lead to negative emotional outcomes if applied excessively. Parents face significant challenges in limiting gadget use, which often impacts children's emotional regulation. A balanced parenting approach that combines positive reinforcement with structured gadget-use limits is crucial for improving emotional regulation. This study underscores the need for supportive and adaptive parenting strategies to navigate the challenges of the digital age.

Abstract

This research is a research and development (R&D) study. R&D is a research model that is in the nature of developing new products or improving existing products through systematic standardization procedures, repeated revisions, and measurements in order to produce better products than before (Sutja et al., 2017). The subjects in this study were grade IX students of SMPN 11 Kota Jambi to test the e-flipbook and 6 BK teachers of SMPN 11 Kota Jambi for product validation. The results of this study indicate that the product can be used as a reference for BK teachers in choosing e-flipbooks for the implementation of information services. This is evidenced by the percentage value of media experts 76% and material experts 80% who are both in the "Good" category. The respondent questionnaire test on grade IX students of SMPN 11 Kota Jambi obtained a percentage of 85.5% in the "very good" category. Meanwhile, the validation of the e-flipbook's suitability for the implementation of information services for BK teachers at SMPN 11 Jambi City obtained a percentage of 87.6% in the "very good" category.

Abstract

Muslim students who experienced parental divorce during childhood tend to carry negative emotions into adulthood, which may disrupt their psychological well-being. Forgiveness (Al-‘Afw) serves as an important psychological and spiritual healing mechanism, although the process is not always easy. Therefore, this study aims to explore the dynamics of forgiveness among Muslim students who experienced parental divorce in childhood, including the psychological and spiritual processes involved, as well as the factors influencing its development. This study employed a qualitative phenomenological approach involving five informants selected through purposive sampling, consisting of four females and one male. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews and non-participant observation, and analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The findings reveal that forgiveness occurs gradually, beginning with awareness of emotional wounds, followed by the decision to forgive, self-reflection and empathy toward parental limitations, as well as engagement in spiritual practices such as dhikr, du’a, and sunnah prayers. Forgiveness is reflected in behavioral changes, including improved communication and an attitude of ihsan toward parents. These findings indicate that Al-‘Afw is a transformative process that integrates psychological and spiritual aspects, while enhancing inner well-being and interpersonal relationships.

Abstract

Students are in the early adult development phase, characterized by freedom to make choices, but on the other hand, they are faced with various conflicting values, such as family, religion, and social environment. This condition causes differences in how students interpret sexual experiences, both as a form of self-exploration and as a source of identity conflict. This study aims to understand students' perceptions of the phenomenon of free sex and its influence on the process of identity search. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews and observations of five students using snowball sampling techniques. The results show that students have diverse perceptions of free sex, ranging from viewing it as normal behavior to an act that contradicts their values. The experience of free sex has different impacts on the process of identity formation, such as increased self-confidence, feelings of guilt, and personal value conflicts. Factors such as social environment, social media, and personal experiences also influence how students interpret this phenomenon. This study confirms that casual sex is understood personally by each individual and plays a complex role in the process of students' identity formation.
