Abstract

This study aims to obtain data, process, analyze and discuss Community Perceptions of Temporary Shelters (TPS) in Lubuk Basung District seen from: 1). Public knowledge about temporary shelters (TPS) in Lubuk Basung District, 2). Public awareness in disposing of garbage in temporary shelters (TPS) in Kec. Lubuk Basung, 3). Level of public education in utilizing temporary shelters (TPS) in Kec. Lubuk Basung.This type of research is descriptive and qualitative research. The population in this study is the entire community in the TPS area, totaling 100 families. The sampling technique is in research using the slovin technique, so the samples taken from the slovin technique are between 10% -20% of the research population. So the sample that is the respondent is 100 families from all residents in Lubuk Basung District. This research instrument uses a questionnaire. .For data analysis using descriptive and qualitative analysis.This study shows that there are: 1). Public knowledge about temporary shelters (TPS) of 61% is categorized as good. garbage in the environment around TPS, 2) Community awareness in disposing of waste in temporary shelters (TPS) of 36% is categorized as not good, this is in accordance with the results of questionnaires and interviews, it is proven that there is still visible garbage scattered around TPS and the community does not sort and choosing when to dispose of garbage to TPS, 3) The level of public education in utilizing temporary shelters (TPS) 51% is categorized as quite good. This is in accordance with the results of the questionnaire and the results of the interviews which proved the level of education in the people of Lubuk Basung District, where the average high school graduate and the environmental conditions around the TPS were starting to get cleaner.

Abstract

This article aims to examine and provide a theoretical basis regarding Citizenship Education as a means of strengthening national identity. Indonesia is a country that has diversity and wealth which makes it the hallmark or identity of the Indonesian nation. However, at present this identity is being eroded by the influx of various external influences due to globalization. This can be a threat to the existence of the identity of the Indonesian nation. This article will discuss two main problem formulations, the urgency of strengthening the nation's national identity and how the role of Citizenship Education Courses is in strengthening national identity. The approach used in this research is qualitative by using the literature study method. Sources of data in this study used various literature, namely books and journal articles. The results of this study indicate that Citizenship Education has a very important role as a means of strengthening national identity. Either directly or indirectly, the Citizenship Education Course contains material on national identity. So that teachers can make learning more meaningful by combining various learning models and various media to maximize the role of Civics Courses in strengthening the identity of the nation.

Abstract

The present study aims to describe the challenges and strategies in managing delinquent students by English teachers in Islamic senior high school in a sidoarjo. This is done to find out the challenges of the teachers and the strategies they use to overcome these challenges. This research was conducted by using qualitative method with a case study as a qualitative design. The primary data was the statements taken from two teachers’ interview and Supportive data taken from observation. The data collection techniques in this research were unstructured interview and natural observation. The technique of analysis in this research was thematic analysis. Based on the data collected, the researchers found that there were four challenges faced by teachers, namely (1) unequal attention, (2) unequal interaction, (3) students were not active, and (4) wayward student. The strategies used by the teacher to overcome these challenges (1) praising unobedient students, (2) managing students, (3) changing student seats, and (4) using work groups. From these conclusions, the researcher offers several suggestions for dealing with the challenges faced by teachers. Teachers should use more creative strategies in developing various activities, making learning media. Regarding creativity teachers employed various mediums to make it easier for pupils to acquire and grasp the topic. Audio, visual, and audiovisual media were examples of media. Audio and visual media were the most commonly employed in ELT classes. The planning and creativity teachers become the main factors to make the class more interactive using several media.

Abstract

This research purpose to determine the effectiveness of using social media TikTok for biology learning at SMAN 2 Padang. This research is a descriptive research with a quantitative approach. Quantitative data were obtained from instrument data in the form of questionnaires with students as respondents. To support this data, interviews were also conducted with biology teachers and direct observation in the school environment. Based on the results of research data processing, it is known that TikTok is quite effective (56.5%) for use in biology learning, this is because TikTok can be used as a medium and source of information for biology learning. Therefore, biology teachers at SMAN 2 Padang may consider using TikTok in biology lessons.

Abstract

This research is a type of research and development with reference to the 4D model which is an extension of Define, Design, Development and Dissemination. The instrument used to collect data is a questionnaire. The data analysis technique is descriptive qualitative. The results of the validation of the teacher's response in class IV media did not have revisions, and obtained a percentage of 92%. The results of the validation of the assessment by media experts obtained 96% of the 10 statements. The results of the validation of the assessment by material experts get a score of 94% of 14 statements.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the teacher's ability to manage classes in thematic subjects in class IV SDIT Darussalam. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted at SDIT Darussalam Deli Tua Village, Kab. Deli Serdang, the subject of this study was the fifth grade teacher at SDIT Darussalam. The instruments in this study were observation sheets, interview sheets and documentation. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses an inductive pattern, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are that in classroom management the teacher always prepares learning tools such as lesson plans, learning resources and learning media, but teachers do not use various classroom management approaches and student-centered learning models. The conclusion in classroom management is that there are also obstacles experienced by teachers, namely internal and external factors, where external factors are student learning facilities, learning environment and teacher insight in understanding student needs. Internal factors are personality related to students' social-emotional as well as students' family background can also be an obstacle to effective classroom management in learning mathematics in class V SDIT Darussalam

Abstract

Reading is an activity that has a role in shaping how a person thinks. It helps us respond to things and also gives us the tools to solve problems. The impact of reading depends on what we choose to read. If we pick high-quality reading material, our thinking becomes more refined when dealing with different issues. On the other hand, if we choose poorly our perspectives on various subjects can become less positive. This is a key factor in how our mental well-being is influenced. For those who believe in God, we have reliable reading material that forms our thought patterns – that's the Bible. The Bible is considered the word of God, containing promises and hope, which contribute to developing a positive mindset. When we struggle with negative thought patterns, it can affect our mental state. This is where the Bible becomes important as it offers comfort and hope as the word of God. By using research methods and looking into existing information, the researcher found that reading the Bible has a significant impact on mental health. Engaging with the Bible helps improve our thought patterns and makes us mentally stronger.

Abstract

Students are expected to comprehend English texts correctly. Meanwhile the students of the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 2 Gido did not understand the texts, could not achieve the minimum competences criterion that has been decided in the school. It was caused by some factors namely lacked of the students’ vocabulary, unable to identify main idea and to determine the generic structure of descriptive text, lacked of getting the important points when reading the text. The purpose of this research is to increase the students’ ability in reading comprehension. In increasing students’ reading ability, the researchers used Discovery Learning Strategy and applied it Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted in two cycles, there were four steps in conducting the research, namely: planning, action, observation and reflection. The result of the data in Cycle I showed that there were 2 students (6%) categorized in “Poor level”, 12 students (37%) categorized in “Less level”, 14 students (42%) categorized in “Enough level, 3 students (9%) categorized in “Good level, and 2 students (6%) categorized in “Very good level”. The mean mark in Cycle I was 50.91. There were still many students who failed and their level was low and really needed to be increased in the next cycle. Cycle II, no one of the students was categorized into less, poor, and enough levels, but 30 students (90.9%) categorized in “Good level, 3 students (9.10%) categorized in “Very good level”. The mean mark in Cycle II was 85.15. Based on the results of the research, it is concluded that Discovery Learning Strategy can increase the students’ ability in reading comprehension in descriptive text at eighth grade of SMP Negeri 2 Gido in 2022/2023.

Abstract

In an increasingly competitive and complex world, students, students, or anyone involved in education often faces various challenges that can trigger stress. Academic stress is a significant phenomenon, because it has a direct impact on a person's well-being and academic performance. The background of this research emphasizes the need for an understanding of the impact of meditation before learning on the ability to deal with academic stress of Buddhist students. The questionnaire distribution method was used in this study, and the data analysis technique used was correlational statistical techniques. The results of the analysis showed that there was an effect of meditation before learning in dealing with the academic stress of Buddhist students at SMP Negeri 1 Kaloran. However, a value of X = 0.633 + 0.400 Y (percentage value or coefficient number) shows how much influence the meditation has. Thus, meditation before learning has a role in dealing with simple linear regression problems between education and the ability to handle academic stress of Buddhist students.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine students' perceptions toward using zoom as a learning medium during online EFL (English as a foreign Language) learning. This research also uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data sources were obtained from 50 of 8th-semester students by distributing questionnaires, and ten randomly selected students for interviews. The results of the questionnaire obtained were processed using quantitative and interviews by entering interview transcripts. The results of this study indicate that students have positive perceptions and attitudes about using zoom as a learning medium during online EFL learning. Students who consider zoom, a video conferencing technology that assists students with online learning and does not restrict discussion in English, can also utilize zoom to improve and enhance their English. Zoom allows us to have a virtual classroom and it is the ideal choice for learning, discussing, and attending meetings and webinars since its functions allow students to communicate with both the instructor and their peers at the same time, anywhere as learning media.
