Abstract

Fitness is still an important study in life. The study of physical fitness is still a problem that seems to be currently a polemic among elementary school students. This happens because of a shift in physical activity habits in student life. The purpose of this study was to find out an overview of the impact of a Sport Monopoly Games (SMG) game on students' physical fitness. A total of 105 students spread across the Cimahi City, Indonesia area participated in this research, namely schools in the northern, central and southern regions. The research method uses experiments with research design one shoot case study. The instrument uses a measuring instrument in the form of the Indonesian Student Fitness Test (TKSI) Phase C, which consists of five test items: 1) Child Ball; 2) Tok Tok Ball; 3) Shuttle Run 4x10 m Get ball; 4) Move the Ball; 5) Run 600 m. The data analysis used a percentage approach, and using the tools of Ms Excel 2019 and IBM SPSS version 26 programs. Average physical fitness score from the northern region is greater at 15.6 than the other two regions, namely the central region 15.4 and the southern region 14.9. However, if you look at the TKSI value category table, the three regions on average have the same fitness level, which is in the medium category. The results of the study found that the average student had a moderate level of physical fitness after being given treatment using SMG. Physical education teachers can apply this game in physical fitness materials at school, so that the learning process is not monotonous and a little challenging for students.

Abstract

Local wisdom is a characteristic or specialty of a region that must be preserved. However, currently, the rapid development of technology has various impacts on life, especially the neglect of various games and cultures from a region. This study will develop local wisdom-based teaching materials in Physical Education and Sports subjects in Elementary Schools  Implementing local wisdom-based learning in basic learning is an effort that can be used as a basis for building awareness of local culture. The method used is research and development (R&D) with a 4D design (Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate). The results of the Expert assessment show that Local Wisdom-based Teaching Materials are categorized as very good and feasible to be applied to learning. The results of the trial of local wisdom-based teaching module products show that the achievement of high learning motivation reaches 82.69% in every aspect of student learning motivation indicators. These results indicate that local wisdom-based teaching materials in PE subjects are feasible to use and further research can develop these teaching materials at the secondary education level

Abstract

The challenges faced by young people today in shaping their morality from adolescence can be identified through Physical Education (PE) learning. PE plays a significant role in shaping the morals and character of adolescent students. It goes beyond focusing solely on knowledge and psychomotor skills, incorporating essential moral aspects. By promoting discipline, fostering collaboration, and instilling a sense of responsibility, PE helps in molding well-rounded individuals. The objective of this study was to identify the moral values of adolescent students through PE learning. A descriptive research method with a quantitative approach was employed. Data collection was carried out using a Likert scale questionnaire. The sample consisted of 64 junior high school students selected through random sampling techniques. This research utilized three indicators to describe the moral values of adolescent students: discipline, collaboration, and responsibility. The classification for determining good morals was based on standard categories of excellent, good, fair, poor, and very poor. The results showed that the moral values of adolescent students were as follows: 20% of students were classified as excellent, 78% as good, and 2% as fair, with no students falling into the poor or very poor categories. These findings indicate that PE learning significantly contributes to the moral development of adolescent students. Consequently, it can be concluded that PE learning is integral to shaping the morals of adolescent students, playing a crucial role in their overall development and character building. The positive impact observed underscores the importance of incorporating moral education within the PE curriculum to nurture disciplined, collaborative, and responsible individuals.

Abstract

The current research aims to investigate the influence of English Language Education Department students’ learning environment and self-directed learning towards their academic achievement. Moreover, it also investigates how the students’ learning environment, self-directed learning, and academic achievement scores differ by their educational level. This research was an ex post facto research design. The participants involved in the current research were 106 consisted of 73 undergraduate students and 33 graduate students of the English Language Education Department at Yogyakarta State University. They were selected based on convenience sampling. This research adopted two instruments namely EFL Learning Environment Questionnaire (QEFL-LE) developed by Mutlu (2017) and Self-Directed Learning Scale (SDLS) questionnaire from Lounsbury et al. (2009). Before carrying out the investigation, a pilot study was conducted to improve the validity and reliability of the instruments. Furthermore, composite questionnaires were distributed, resulting in three quantitative data sets of students’ learning environment, self-directed learning, and academic achievement. Finally, both descriptive and inferential statistics were performed using IBM SPSS to analyze the data. The findings reported that there were significant differences in the students’ scores in learning environment, self-directed learning, and academic achievement based on their educational level (bachelor’s and master’s degree). In addition, the scores of master’s degree students consistently surpassed those of bachelor’s degree students in every variable in the current research. Furthermore, it confirms that students’ academic achievement was significantly influenced by their learning environment and self-directed learning. Moreover, students’ learning environment and self-directed are simultaneously become the best predictor of their academic achievement. Based on these findings, pedagogical implications are suggested for English teaching and learning in a higher education context
