Abstract

The world is facing a health problem where there is an epidemiological shift, namely the emergence of infectious diseases into non-infectious diseases. One of the non-infectious diseases that is a global health burden is cancer. The exact cause of breast cancer is still unknown. However, many factors are thought to influence the high incidence of breast cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the risk factors for breast cancer in Hospitals in the Malang City Area. Quantitative descriptive research with a secondary data analysis strategy was conducted on all patients diagnosed with breast cancer in 4 major hospitals in Malang City in January - December 2023, with a total of 1464 data using the total sampling technique. The data was processed using descriptive statistical methods. The results showed that the majority of women diagnosed with breast cancer were over 50 years old (58.1%), and married (86.95%). A total of 67.96% of respondents were multiparous mothers, 31.69% used 3-month hormonal contraceptive injections, and some had a medical history of hypertension (7.31%). This study shows the importance of early detection of breast cancer at all ages and equitable access to health facilities that provide cancer care services.

Abstract

The Bajakah root (Spatholobus littoralis), a native plant of Kalimantan, is recognized for its phenolic content and antioxidant activity. This study aims to compare the effects of three extraction methods—maceration, soxhlet, and reflux—on the total phenolic content and antioxidant activity of Bajakah root extracts. The plant material was extracted using 96% ethanol, followed by phenolic content analysis via the Folin-Ciocalteu method and antioxidant activity evaluation using the DPPH assay. Results revealed that the reflux method produced the highest phenolic content (17.6 ± 0.1 mg GAE/g extract) and the strongest antioxidant activity (IC50 of 26 ± 1 µg/mL). The soxhlet method yielded a phenolic content of 17.4 ± 0.2 mg GAE/g extract with an IC50 of 30 ± 0 µg/mL, while maceration resulted in the lowest phenolic content (14.6 ± 0.7 mg GAE/g extract) and an IC50 of 34 ± 2 µg/mL. The heating processes involved in the reflux and Soxhlet methods likely facilitated the degradation of glycosides, thereby enhancing phenolic content. All methods demonstrated exceptionally strong antioxidant activity (IC50 < 50 µg/mL). This study underscores the significant influence of extraction methods on the phenolic quality and antioxidant capacity of Bajakah root extracts.

Abstract

Dyspepsia syndrome, a form of digestive system disorder related to psychological conditions, especially anxiety, which can directly affect an individual's perception of the physical symptoms they experience. The purpose of this study was to identify anxiety levels in students of the Public Health Undergraduate Program at the Muhammadiyah University of East Kalimantan, identify the incidence of dyspepsia syndrome, and analyze the relationship between anxiety levels and the incidence of dyspepsia syndrome. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 208 students selected through stratified random sampling techniques, and analyzed using the Fisher's Exact Test. The results showed that most respondents were 20 years old and mostly female. Most respondents experienced mild anxiety, and as many as 88.9% of respondents experienced dyspepsia syndrome. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between anxiety levels and the incidence of dyspepsia syndrome (p = 0.001). Based on these findings, it is recommended to increase awareness of the importance of mental health, as well as the provision of psychological counseling services on campus to prevent psychological impacts that can affect students' physical health and digestive system.

Abstract

Bullying can occur at all educational levels and in social settings, with 75.9% of adolescents having experienced it. This study aims to identify factors related to bullying behavior among students at SMPN 24 and SMP Muhammadiyah 5 in Padang City in 2025. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, 266 students were sampled from a population of 790 through proportionate random sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test from October 2024 to April 2025. Results showed that 54.1% of students had a high level of bullying behavior. Contributing factors included negative attitudes (p=0.000), poor school environment (p=0.000), low peer support (p=0.020), and strong influence of social media (p=0.000). As bullying levels are high, it is recommended that schools implement monthly education programs addressing the causes, impacts, and prevention of bullying to raise awareness among students and teachers and discourage the normalization of such behavior

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Posyandu in increasing mothers' awareness of balanced nutrition in Rowosari Village. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 13 informants, consisting of 4 mothers of young children, 8 Posyandu cadres, and 1 midwife. The results of the thematic analysis based on role theory revealed five main indicators: role expectations, role performance, role pressures, role support, and evaluation-innovation. The findings indicate that Posyandu plays a crucial role as a center for community nutrition information and education; however, it faces challenges such as low mother participation, limited Posyandu cadres, insufficient training, and inflexible education schedules. Nevertheless, the cadres demonstrated initiative through practice-based educational innovations and digital approaches. This study emphasizes that the effectiveness of Posyandu is highly dependent on cross-sectoral support, cadre capacity, and contextual and interactive educational approaches.

Abstract

Hemodialysis is an essential therapy for patients with end-stage kidney disease; however, it is often accompanied by the risk of malnutrition, which contributes to reduced quality of life and increased mortality. Intradialytic eating (IDE) has the potential to offer clinical benefits for hemodialysis patients, but its practice remains controversial, particularly regarding safety and possible clinical outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the safety and clinical impact of IDE through a systematic review of the available scientific evidence. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using PubMed, Cochrane CENTRAL, ScienceDirect, EBSCO, and Scopus databases. Studies were selected based on relevance to the PICO framework. A total of 9,142 articles were identified, and after data screening and extraction, eight studies met the inclusion criteria. The findings suggest that intradialytic eating (IDE) has the potential to improve nutritional status and quality of life in hemodialysis patients at risk of malnutrition, although it still carries the risk of hypotension and blood pressure instability. Safe and effective implementation of IDE requires careful patient selection based on hemodynamic stability, provision of high-protein and low-electrolyte foods, administration during the mid-to-late phase of dialysis, and close clinical monitoring. Multidisciplinary team involvement and supportive health service policies are crucial for the long-term success of IDE practices.

Abstract

The ages of 5–6 years represent a golden period in child development, during which gross motor skills undergo rapid growth. Nevertheless, some children continue to experience developmental delays due to limited stimulation. This study investigated the effect of the Lantara game, a structured physical activity, on the gross motor skills of children aged 60–72 months at TK Gelora Mekar, Way Tenong District, West Lampung Regency, in 2025. A quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed. The sample consisted of 22 children selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were obtained through observation and standardized gross motor assessments administered before and after the intervention. Statistical analyses included normality testing and paired sample t-tests. The results demonstrated significant improvements in all domains of gross motor skills following the intervention: Jump on one leg increased from 2.23 to 3.91,  Stand on one leg for several seconds, from 2.32 to 3.82, Walk in a straight line,  from 2.36 to 3.95, and Jump forward from 2.36 to 3.95 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the Lantara game is an effective medium for stimulating gross motor development in early childhood. Its application may serve as a practical, play-based strategy to address developmental delays and promote holistic growth in preschool settings.
