Abstract

Visual and audio advertising media as information broadcast to audiences must consider advertising ethics because bombastic and manipulative visualizations and narrative sentences deceive the public by providing untruthful information. According to advertising ethics, ontology, and epistemology studies, revising the media’s presentation of product advertisements is imperative. Accordingly, this study utilizes a descriptive-quantitative method based on previous studies and direct observation of the "Adem Sari Chingku Sparkling" advertisement in 2017. Conclusions are drawn using the constructivism method. The results suggest that the presentation of "Adem Sari Chingku" advertisements in the modern era tends to be manipulative. The advertisements are presented with bombastic visuals and biased narratives to manipulate suggestions and lead the audience to develop certain assumptions about the advertisement. The suggestions made by the advertising media do not refer to the composition of the product's raw materials. The audience is led to believe that the product can relieve and cure heartburn.

Abstract

This study discusses the design of a short film titled Nggabrul as one of the media used as therapy for primary school children. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused parents to worry about their children's education and eventually help them do their homework. The purpose of this design is to produce a film with a cinematic therapy approach by taking the theme of current life phenomena. Cinema therapy can be said to be the use of movies or watching activities to manage medical health, mental health, and life management. The design method used refers to the stages of creative design proposed by Graham Wallas, consisting of (a) preparation, (b) incubation, (c) illumination, and (d) verification. The result is a simple storytelling package. With the choice of angles of the online learning process in the era of COVID-19 as well as the proper cinematographic techniques, the Nggabrul film becomes one of the right therapeutic media for children to face the new normal era and provide moral teachings of honesty. The results of this design are expected to inspire the filmmaker to produce films that respond to the latest phenomena in society. Abstract

This article examines the third edition of the Afro-Asian Film Festival (AAF), held in Jakarta in 1964. A series of film festivals that serve as a container of meetings between newly independent and still colonized nations to articulate the political expressions of the third world. The festival was studied with a qualitative-descriptive approach. Analysis of his research data through textual and contextual reading of available archival material, such as film plays, delegation speeches, communiques, and newspaper coverage, involving theoretical ideas of Peripheral Marxism. There are two findings, firstly, showing the ideological contribution of the left that makes FFAA III more radical than the previous two editions of the FFAA. Secondly, a textual analysis of the two winning films shows the role of FFAA III in giving space to issues and knowledge generated by women. FFAA III articulates anti-colonial third-world political expressions as well as anti-imperialist leftist thinking based on the objective everyday realities of third-world people, which in this paper appear in the percolation of women living in feudal cultures. The findings of this research are useful in enriching knowledge of the history of film in the era of independence and adding to the spirit of nationalism. Abstract

Artificial intelligence has influenced various aspects of human life in recent years. The film industry is no exception to be affected by the expansion of artificial intelligence. Focusing on the process of short movie scenario development, this research aims to explore the extent to which artificial intelligence or AI can play a role in the creative process of filmmaking. This research uses an innovative exploration method using action research methods with a special focus on the art-based action research approach. Using three experimental cycles, this research found that artificial intelligence has a series of limitations in its function to assist the film script creation process, therefore, it is unlikely that artificial intelligence can replace humans completely soon. However, this research found that despite all its limitations, artificial intelligence has a significant role in helping film creators simplify the initial steps of the film script development process, if it is utilized in the right way. This research makes a substantial contribution to the discussion regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the filmmaking creative process. Abstract

This research describes strategies in experimental film studio space, with a subjective creation process approach through the management of personal experiences of digital trauma conflicts of students of the internet user generation. The formulation of this research questions the ability of practical studio space to become a bridge of expression. This research aims to obtain the perspective of the psychological state built from the condition of trauma towards the selection of the visual language. Participatory Action Research (PAR) is conducted by reviewing and analyzing comprehensively so that all data in this study can be accounted for. The results showed that most of the students were able to recognize and manage their conflicts without being burdened by the standards of Blockbuster cinema or High Art to be empowered with creative ideas and works. In the context of self, they are able to increase their confidence as artists or academic filmmakers. This research implies that it can serve as a basis for shaping new knowledge, skills and attitudes towards the emergence of other methods of expression of film or video art creation in the future.   Keywords: education; digital conflict; experimental film; video art; engaged art.
