Abstract

Herbal plants such as ginger, lemongrass, galangal, and turmeric are commonly grown by residents in their home gardens. These plants have great potential to be processed into traditional beverages. One method of processing is by turning them into herbal or spice drinks. Herbal drinks made from Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) not only contain active ingredients beneficial to health but also serve as an eco-friendly and economical alternative treatment. This initiative aims to optimize the utilization of TOGA in the community by providing practical training on how to produce and package herbal drinks to enhance their market value, as well as to increase entrepreneurial knowledge among mothers in Kelurahan Rawang. The program adopts a participatory approach, where the community is not merely passive recipients of information but actively involved in the hands-on practice of making herbal drinks. This initiative has successfully enhanced the community’s knowledge and skills in utilizing TOGA to produce healthy and natural herbal drinks. In addition to its health benefits, the activity has also created opportunities for the community to develop small businesses based on local spices. Through this program, it is hoped that the community can become more self-reliant in maintaining family health while also developing the economic potential of TOGA

Abstract

Unggan weaving is a superior product of Sijunjung Regency and is a priority in the Sijunjung Regency Industrial Development Plan. The aim of the activity is to develop the ability to design Unggan weaving motifs digitally and optimize Unggan weaving production. The method used is a training and mentoring method with quantitative measurement of the success of activities. The activity stages begin with the preparation stage and continue with the implementation stage, namely with motif design training and production assistance to increase product capacity. Every activity is monitored and evaluated to see the success of the activity. The result of the training activities was that 10 craftsmen were trained in designing. The activities carried out are able to increase the ability of entrepreneurs/craftsmen to design motifs digitally, so that the motifs created become more varied with attractive color combinations. The availability of new non-machine looms (ATBM) will increase production capacity. Activities are also able to increase production with the availability of yarn spinning equipment, which will streamline raw material acquisition costs and reduce dependence on raw material suppliers. This activity will continue until 2025 to 2026, so it could have an impact on partners' business performance. The obstacles faced by craftsmen are limited to getting used to designing digitally and needing further training and assistance. From the activities carried out, it can be concluded that craftsmen are able to design digitally and increase production capacity. Craftsmen are expected to use yarn spinning equipment and this could become a new business activity, namely providing yarn spun at CV. Lansek Manih at a cheaper price than yarn suppliers from Silungkang or Bukittinggi.

Abstract

Literacy comic-based packaging for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Nagari Sikabu Bukik, Lubuk Alung, Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra, was developed to overcome the low competitiveness of local products due to unattractive and uninformative packaging designs. The main problem faced is the lack of skills in designing effective packaging to increase the selling value and strengthen the brand identity of local products. The purpose of this activity is to increase the capacity of MSMEs, especially those incorporated in the Saiyo Sakato Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMNag), in designing attractive, educational, and competitive product packaging. This activity involved 46 participants, including BUMNag administrators and MSMEs engaged in local food production, such as cookies and traditional foods. The methods used included socialization, tutorials on literacy comic-based packaging design techniques, and hands-on practice sessions using the Canva Pro platform. The training began with an explanation of the concept of literacy comic-based packaging design, continued with technical guidance on making designs, and ended with independent practice by participants. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' skills in creating innovative and functional packaging. This literacy comic-based packaging is not only visually appealing but also able to convey educational messages to consumers. Abstract

The dairy goat farming business is quite developed in Agam Regency, one of which is the Muda Mandiri farmer group in Nagari Sungai Pua, Sungai Pua District. This group has 11 members of peranakan etawa goat breeders with 30 goats. The purpose of this activity is to apply sugarcane tops fermentation technology as an alternative forage feed for ruminants to improve the feed efficiency of dairy goats. The activity method includes several stages. Fisrt, concept introduction and counselling to farmer groups on forage feed management and the benefits of sugarcane tops fermentation were conducted. Second, a demonstration of the fermentation process began with chopping sugarcane tops, mixing them with Pleurotus ostreatus mold and adding bran. This mixture was stored in an airtight container for 21 days. Third, the fermented products were tested directly as feed for dairy goats to evaluate their palatability and impact on milk production. Important results showed that although milk production was almost the same as the previous feed of field grass, fermented sugarcane tops could replace up to 30% of field grass use. This reduced the need for farmers to search for grass every day, improving time and labor efficiency in feed preparation. In conclusion, fermented sugarcane tops is an effective and easy-to-implement technology to support the provision of efficient alternative feed for dairy goat farmers, thereby helping to ease the farmer’s workload.
