Abstract

Children are gifts by God Almighty given to parents as successors and hope for the future of a nation. Children as human beings who are weak and vulnerable to the threat of crime must receive attention and protection. However, not many parents know the dangers, types, and sanctions of immoral and drug crimes and the appropriate steps in overcoming them. The purpose of the activity is to socialize the dangers, types, and sanctions of immoral crimes and drugs and increase legal awareness in particular to Dharma Wanita Padang Panjang City to play a role in overcoming immoral crimes and drugs in children both preventively and repressively. The activity method is in the form of socialization, introduction, simulation, and finally evaluation by distributing questionnaires to the participants. The targets of the Dharma Wanita activities are the Padang Panjang City Government, Bundo Kanduang, Family Welfare Development group, representatives from elementary, middle, and high schools. The results of the activities obtained are that children's development of the current era causes easy internet access. It can be an opportunity for immoral crimes and drug abuse against children if there is no or weak supervision by adults. After the socialization activities were carried out, there was an increase in the knowledge of the Dharma Wanita of Padang Panjang City about the dangers, types, and sanctions of immoral and drug crimes and appropriate steps in tackling them both preventively and repressively. Besides that, there is a robust Nagari adat kinship system, the principle of deliberation/consensus, and the influence of DharmaWanita's role is considered to have potential in overcoming cases of immoral crimes and drug abuse among children. Furthermore, it is recommended for parents to supervise children when using gadgets so that children avoid threats/dangers from immoral and narcotics crimes.

Abstract

Transmission of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 from corpses to people around, namely mortuary officers and the families of the bodies, can occur through direct contact with body fluids, objects around the body that are contaminated with the coronavirus, and aerosols formed when the body is moved or turned over. The curing of the COVID-19 corpse requires special treatment so that the custodian of the corpse avoids the transmission of this coronavirus. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and awareness of medical and mortuary staff about the importance of organizing COVID-19 bodies by taking into account the standards that the WHO has issued, professional organizations while still paying attention to the ethical, religious, and customs aspects of the local community. This capacity-building method is in the form of an online seminar on the role of medical personnel in curing COVID-19 corpses through the provision of 4 topics by four presenters. The material provided was the ethical and legal aspects of the burial of COVID-19 bodies, the management of the burial of COVID-19 corpses, religious views on the handling of COVID-19 corpses, and filling out the COVID-19 death certificate. The results of the activities obtained are the pretest and post-test results to assess the participants' knowledge. Ninety-one participants attended the pretest, and 94 participants from 150 seminar participants attended the post-test. According to standard operating procedures adopted from WHO, the funeral of the corpse is carried out by taking into account ethical, cultural, and religious aspects. The province of West Sumatra itself is primarily Muslim, so this protocol is also based on the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council. The preparation of SOPs for the healing of COVID-19 patients and socialization needs to be continued with other health workers and the community to reduce the turbidity in the community regarding the handling of the bodies of COVID-19 patients.

Abstract

Consumption of healthy snacks in children is very important to note, this is because it will have an impact on the health and nutritional status of the child. The nutritional status of children will affect the quality of human resources from school to productive age. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge of junior high school students about healthy snack menus based on local food. The method of this activity is to conduct nutrition education and evaluate the increase in student's knowledge by using a questionnaire. This activity begins with an introduction and continues with a pre-test. Furthermore, nutrition education in the form of providing interesting materials and videos in choosing healthy snacks based on local food, post-test, discussion, and question and answer. To increase the enthusiasm of the participants, prizes were given. The results of the activities obtained by nutrition education at SMPN 2 Bayang can increase the knowledge of junior high school children about how to choose healthy snacks based on local food. This can be seen from the difference in the level of students' knowledge before (pre-test) and after (post-test) regarding the nutrition education provided. Besides, when students are served some snacks, students can choose and explain healthy and unhealthy foods. Some of the various local snacks and processed forms such as sweet potatoes, corn, taro can also be described in detail by students. From the activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that nutrition education increases student’s knowledge about how to choose healthy snacks based on local food.

Abstract

Along with population growth and the development of human activities have implications for the generation of waste. Therefore, in order to anticipate, it is necessary to learn from an early age related to waste sorting. No exception in Kampung Jawa as a dense urban village in Solok City. The purpose of this activity is to increase public awareness, namely elementary school students, towards waste. The activity was carried out at SDN 11 Kampung Jawa Village, Solok City. The selection of the target object is based on the consideration that concern for waste problems must be generated from an early age and children must be taught how to sort waste properly and correctly. This activity was carried out in Kampung Jawa, Tanjung Harapan District, Solok City, West Sumatra Province. The method of carrying out activities is the lecture method, simulation, and gift giving. The result of the activity is that students can explain and succeed in sorting waste, and throwing it in the trash according to its designation. With this activity, in the long term it is hoped that the waste problem can be minimized. Garbage has been disposed of in the trash according to its type so as to facilitate the process of waste management and processing. It is hoped that this activity can raise awareness of the people of Kampung Jawa, not only elementary school students but also parents and teachers. It is recommended to conduct regular monitoring to evaluate the activities that have been carried out in Kampung Jawa Village, Solok City.

Abstract

Nagari Sijunjung has become a concern of various parties since registering Jorong Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato as world heritage and traditional villages. Both regions have many big houses, which is one of the essential bases for registration. However, apart from the big houses and their physical architecture, Nagari Sijunjung, especially Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato, have much intangible cultural heritage stored in the memory of a small part of the community. This intangible cultural heritage is neglected and forgotten, even though it can be an essential part of the registration to UNESCO. This activity aims to provide knowledge and understanding to the people of Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato about the importance of their intangible cultural heritage and document the intangible cultural heritage that exists in Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato, Nagari Sijunjung. This activity was carried out in Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato Nagari Sijunjung, West Sumatra. The methods used in this counseling are lectures and discussions. Documentation of this activity is also carried out by producing intangible cultural archives. The results of the activities obtained are counseling and documentation activities carried out by the people of Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato. They can understand and begin to document the intangible cultural products they have. They also do not hesitate to pass it on to the younger generation, so they do not just disappear. Archiving efforts are also needed as supporting documents for the existence of cultural heritage owned by the community. Through this activity, the people of Padang Ranah and Tanah Bato are expected to understand and also begin to become products of their intangible culture.

Abstract

The postpartum period is an important period for health workers to always monitor to avoid complications during the puerperium. Improper implementation can increase the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR). During this pandemic, pregnant and breastfeeding women are categorized as vulnerable to Covid-19 corona virus infection because they have low immunity due to hormonal changes. As of June 4, 2020, there were 594 positive cases of Covid-19 for the West Sumatra region, 25 people died and 312 people recovered. There is a need for the role of health workers and the education department, husband's involvement and family participation with sustainable midwifery care. the method is carried out by interviewing and providing online and contact care according to the health protocol from the ministry of health. The application of the model of continuous care (Continuity of Care) is given since pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period for all women, both low and highrisk mothers and in all series of midwifery units in West Sumatra. The results of the activity showed that the awareness of mothers, husbands and families to be able to provide assistance and implementation of the fulfillment of the physical and psychological needs of mothers during childbirth by paying attention to environmental conditions in this Covid-19 pandemic era. Evaluation of midwifery care until the end of the puerperium needs to be carried out in order to assess better postpartum outcomes and the achievement of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

The skin crackers are well-known and favored as regional superior products which are very potential to be developed. The purpose of this service is to improve sanitation and hygiene aspects, where the layout of production in accordance with SSOP and GMP. Approach methods offered to support knowledge programs using trained and consultation with the methods used are lectures and discussions. The focus of activities is the renovation of layout of production space and sanitation equipment. Based on the service of introducing appropriate technology, Mitra is very enthusiastic about using cleaning tools for wet and clean production spaces with sanitary and hygienic and storage space equipped with container boxes so that it can increase the shelf life of the skin after drying, as well as improve the production space so that the production is running well in accordance with SSOP, GMP in production.

Abstract

Safe and quality food is the human right, including food products produced by the Food Household Industry. This activity aims to provide education on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the application of personal hygiene to workers of the Dry Noodle the food Household Industry in Payakumbuh City, in order to reduce the risk of contamination of processed food that can cause food poisoning. The event was held in July 2021. The activities carried out are observations to find out the compliance of workers in using PPE and apply personal hygiene, then measurement of the level of knowledge of workers about PPE and personal hygiene (pre-test), Then the attachment of posters as an educational tool to improve the knowledge and compliance of workers in using PPE and the application of personal hygiene, then the provision of PPE to workers as an example of PPE that must be used by food industry workers and the last activity is the measurement of knowledge after education (post-test). The results of the activity showed an increase in workers' knowledge about the importance of the use of PPE and the application of personal hygiene at work. With the existence of educational tools and the provision of PPE can improve worker compliance to be used at work. It is expected that similar activities can be carried out on other household-scale industries in West Sumatra.

Abstract

Water is a vital need in daily life. The need for drinking water for the community varies greatly. Pariaman City is one of the highest cities that use drinking water sources from Refill Drinking Water Depots (DAMIU), which is 56.1%. Based on laboratory tests on the quality of drinking water from DAMIU in Kota Pariaman, it shows that every year more than 50% of drinking water from DAMIU does not meet the health requirements and requirements for drinking water. This also occurs due to the low sanitation of drinking water depots. This activity aims to increase the knowledge of DAMIU owners or operators regarding sanitation hygiene. This activity was carried out in 30 DAMIU in Pariaman City. The method of activity is in the form of lectures, education, and giving posters for each DAMIU subject. Activity participants are DAMIU owners or operators who are on duty when the activity takes place. The increase in the knowledge of the target group was assessed using the pre-test and post-test methods regarding drinking water sanitation hygiene. Based on the results of activities based on the results of the pretest and post-test that have been carried out, there is an increase in the knowledge of DAMIU owners and operators regarding hygienic sanitation for drinking water, from 43.3% to 66.7%. From this activity, there was an increase in the target group's knowledge about hygiene and sanitation in this activity. It is hoped that the increase in knowledge of DAMIU owners and operators is followed by an increase in the quality of refill drinking water according to the required health standards.

Abstract

Menurut data UNESCO, minat baca masyarakat Indonesia sangat memprihatinkan, hanya 0,001%. Salah satu alasan mendasar yang menyebabkan rendahnya tingkat literasi Indonesia adalah masyarakat yang belum mengambil peran sepenuhnya sehingga mengakibatkan tidak terciptanya ekosistem literasi yang produktif bagi anak-anak. Apalagi semenjak pandemi yang memunculkan fenomena learning loss. Learning loss merupakan fenomena hilangnya kesempatan peserta didik untuk menuntut ilmu karena penundaan proses belajar mengajar. Fenomena learning loss menjadi permasalahan serius di Indonesia karena sistem PJJ yang diterapkan pemerintah menyebabkan menurunnya minat baca anak. Menurut survei Kemendikbud, terdapat 20% sekolah secara nasional yang menyatakan sebagian siswa tidak memenuhi kompetensi pembelajaran. Presentase 20% inilah yang diduga mengalami learning loss, tak terkecuali di Kota Padang. Wilayah Koto Parak, Kelurahan Pisang sebagai salah satu wilayah pengabdian Tim KKN Kelurahan Pisang 2021 (Tim KKN Pisang), memiliki permasalahan terkait rendahnya minat literasi dan learning loss pada anak-anak SD – SMP setempat. Melihat permasalahan tersebut, Tim KKN Pisang menginisiasi pojok literasi di Koto Parak agar dapat menjadi solusi nyata. Hal ini didukung potensi Koto Parak dalam pembuatan pojok literasi dari segi sarana dan sosial. Dengan adanya pojok literasi, minat baca anak akan semakin meningkat sehingga dampak fenomena learning loss bisa dikurangi. Metode yang digunakan adalah kolaborasi segilima (pentahelix) yang menggabungkan peran pemerintah, masyarakat, akademisi, pebisnis/pemodal, dan media didalamnya sehingga terbentuklah pojok literasi. Dalam pelaksanannya, Pojok Literasi Pisang menggunakan skema persiapan – implementasi – evaluasi. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi, sebanyak 18 dari 18 anak puas dengan hadirnya pojok literasi. Kolaborasi pentahelix membuka peluang dan akses terciptanya pojok literasi, serta berupaya mewujudkan aspek berkelanjutan.
