Abstract

The background of this study is the low interest and learning outcomes caused by conventional learning, which lacks media and directly presents fractions at the symbolic stage (formulas). The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, in which the sample was determined non-randomly with the criteria that both classes had comparable characteristics and initial ability levels. This study involved 18 students as the experimental class (RME approach assisted by animated videos) and 16 students as the control class (conventional approach assisted by image media). Data were collected through learning interest questionnaires and learning outcome tests (pre-test and post-test). The results of the study show that the treatment in the experimental class was significantly superior. In terms of learning outcomes, there was an increase in the average score of the experimental class from 58.11 to 85.83, surpassing the control class, which only increased from 58.31 to 76.81. A more striking increase was seen in learning interest, where the percentage of students in the “very high” category in the experimental class jumped from 5.6% to 83.3%. The results of statistical tests using the Independent Sample T-Test and F-Test showed a significance value of 0.037 < 0.05, thus proving the significant effect of the application of video animation-assisted RME. It was concluded that this approach was very effective in increasing students' interest and learning outcomes in mathematics on the subject of fractions.

Abstract

One of the essential components in the implementation of learning is instructional media. Instructional media can facilitate the learning process and spark students' interest in the material presented, particularly through media that is practical and accessible anytime and anywhere. However, current challenges in the field indicate a lack of engaging, effective, and practical instructional media for learning activities. This study aims to conduct a needs analysis among teachers and fifth-grade students as a reference for developing interactive instructional media for the "Indonesiaku Kaya Raya" topic in the (IPAS) subject. The method employed is descriptive with a quantitative approach, utilizing observation, interviews, and questionnaires for data collection. The results from interviews and observations indicate a demand for flipbook-based instructional media. Furthermore, questionnaires completed by 27 students revealed that 51.9% find IPAS subjects difficult to comprehend, 59.3% agree that the "Indonesiaku Kaya Raya" material is challenging, and 59.3% expressed a need for interactive media. Consequently, there is a clear necessity for technology-based, interactive, and practical instructional media. There is an urgent need for flipbook-based media that can be accessed anywhere and at any time a format that integrates images, audio, video, hyperlinks, and other engaging features.

Abstract

Early reading skills remain a fundamental issue in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level. The lack of reading ability affects students’ comprehension of texts and weakens overall language proficiency. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the phonics learning model in Indonesian language learning and its effectiveness in improving early reading skills. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA protocol. The data sources were obtained from articles published between 2019-2024 and indexed in Google Scholar and Semantic Scholar databases. A total of five relevant articles were selected based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data were analyzed using content analysis to identify patterns, similarities, and differences in research findings. The results indicate that the phonics learning model effectively improves early reading skills by emphasizing the systematic relationship between letters and sounds. In addition, the phonics approach increases students’ reading interest and active participation in learning. The study concludes that the implementation of the phonics model in Indonesian language learning contributes to improving early literacy, pronunciation accuracy, and students’ reading confidence.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary schools requires instructional models that accommodate students’ diverse learning characteristics. However, mathematics instruction is often conducted using conventional approaches that limit student engagement and result in low learning outcomes, particularly in whole number division topics. This study aimed to examine the effect of a Problem Based Learning model integrated with a differentiated approach on students’ mathematics learning outcomes. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design. The participants consisted of fourth-grade elementary school students divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group was taught using Problem Based Learning with differentiated instruction, while the control group received conventional instruction. Data were collected using a mathematics learning outcome test and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results indicated a significant difference in learning outcomes between the two groups, with a significance value of 0.004, indicating that the experimental group achieved higher learning outcomes than the control group. These findings demonstrate that integrating Problem Based Learning with a differentiated approach effectively enhances students’ understanding of whole number division.
