Abstract

The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in vocational education is essential for preparing graduates to meet Industry 4.0 demands. Although digital learning technologies have been widely studied, empirical evidence on the effectiveness of web-based IoT learning media integrated with problem-based learning (PBL) in vocational contexts remains limited. This study examines the instructional impact of web-based IoT learning media on vocational students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills. A quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group pretest–posttest design was employed involving 60 eleventh-grade Mechanical Engineering students (30 experimental, 30 control). The experimental group participated in PBL activities supported by a web-based IoT platform for eight weeks, while the control group received conventional instruction. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) to compare posttest outcomes while controlling for initial differences in pretest scores. The results indicate statistically significant improvements in critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students in the experimental group compared to the control group (p < 0.05). The effect sizes indicate a strong instructional impact within the studied context, though findings should be interpreted cautiously given the sample size. Overall, this study provides empirical support for the pedagogical potential of web-based IoT learning media in fostering 21st-century competencies in vocational education.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of implementing a design thinking approach in differential learning to enhance students’ critical thinking skills. A quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design was employed. The participants consisted of 60 undergraduate students enrolled in a Differential Calculus course, who were assigned to an experimental group (n = 30) receiving design thinking-based instruction and a control group (n = 30) receiving conventional instruction. The research instrument was an essay-based critical thinking test developed according to five indicators: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, and explanation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test. The findings revealed a statistically significant difference in critical thinking skills between the experimental group (M = 83.67) and the control group (M = 68.43), with p < 0.001. The experimental group achieved an N-Gain score of 0.64, categorized as moderate to high and substantially higher than the control group’s N-Gain of 0.32. Furthermore, Cohen’s effect size was 2.41, indicating a very large effect. Improvements were observed across all critical thinking indicators, with the analysis indicator demonstrating the greatest gain (a mean difference of 16.67 points). In conclusion, design thinking-based learning is effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills in differential calculus and represents a promising alternative instructional approach for university-level mathematics education.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought significant changes to the field of education, including history learning. This article aims to analyze in depth the philosophical, ethical, and practical implications of utilizing AI in history learning, particularly in the context of character development and students’ academic integrity. This study employs a literature review with a descriptive-analytical approach, examining various scholarly sources on the use of AI technology in education. This includes educators at various levels, AI technology developers, education policymakers, students as primary users, and the wider community with a stake in the education system. The initial goal of artificial intelligence was to make human work easier, but over time, artificial intelligence has become a dilemma, trapping humans in a spiral of pseudo-intelligence. This has undoubtedly changed many models of human interaction. Based on this, a more humane digital life is needed.A life that is enlightening by prioritizing human intelligence (analog) rather than artificial intelligence (digital), which shackles humans in the context of the digital shadow that enslaves humanism. This ensures that the humanistic touch of art is not easily disrupted by artificial intelligence. This research adopts a qualitative approach to in-depth explore various aspects of AI use in education. The primary objective of this research is to identify and analyze the potential benefits of integrating artificial intelligence into education.

Abstract

This article is entitled A Multidisciplinary Study of Hadiths on Wife's Maintenance: Social Tradition and the Perspective of the Prophetic Sunnah. This study uses a qualitative method with the approach of analyzing the hadith text through sanad and matan criticism, accompanied by lafadz interpretation (mufradat and word roots) and sharḥ al-ḥadīth. The maqāṣid al-syarī'ah theory is used as the main framework to understand the purpose of the Shari'ah in the obligation of maintenance, while the mubādalah theory and the theory of parallelism are used to interpret the husband-wife relationship in a fair, reciprocal, and functional manner. Classical and contemporary literature is also used as a comparison, especially in seeing how social traditions understand wife's maintenance compared to the perspective of the Prophetic Sunnah. The results confirm that wife maintenance in the Hadith is not just a material obligation, but also includes emotional and spiritual support. The multidisciplinary approach broadens the meaning of the hadith, making it more contextual to the needs of contemporary Islamic family law
