Abstract

This study aims to explore students' understanding of the concept of cylinder volume through a contextual approach based on the fictional character "Gondra". Gondra is used as a character in story problems that are used as a medium to attract attention and improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observations, interviews, and written tests of sixth-grade elementary school students. The results of the study indicate that a narrative-based approach with the character Gondra is able to improve students' understanding in determining the volume of a cylinder conceptually and procedurally. This study also shows a higher emotional involvement of students in solving contextual mathematical problems.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to increase student learning interest through word wall media in early childhood education in Jambianom Hamlet, Medana Village. With class action research methods and data analysis techniques Milles and Hubberman using 4 stages namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The results of the research on increasing children's interest in learning from pr-cycle, cycle I to cycle II show a change or increase in children's interest in learning using word wall net media. This is a form of results and evidence that there is a positive impact resulting from learning by using word wall net media because at the pre-cycle meeting of children's learning interest there were only 21% of children with Completed criteria, and 79% of children in the criteria Not Completed. Then in cycle I there was an increase in the ability of children's interest in learning increased by 31.6%, so that the ability of children's interest in learning in cycle I was completed by 52.6%, and stated that it was not completed by 47.4%. While in cycle II there was another increase of 31.6% so that the increase in children's interest in learning in cycle II was 84.2%, because in cycle II the ability of children's interest in learning had reached the classical criteria, the increase in children's interest in learning was sufficient until cycle II.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of teacher competence on student learning outcomes at SDN Donggobolo, a primary school located in a remote area with limited resources. A quantitative approach using a correlational survey method was employed. Data were collected through student perception questionnaires on teacher competence, which included four dimensions: pedagogical, professional, personal, and social, as well as academic reports in Indonesian Language and Mathematics subjects. The results showed that students’ perceptions of teacher competence were categorized as high, with average scores above 3.5 on a 4-point Likert scale. Student academic achievement was also high, with the majority falling into the “Excellent” and “Good” categories. Simple linear regression analysis revealed that 99.99% of the variance in student learning outcomes could be explained by their perception of teacher competence (R² = 0.9999; p < 0.00001). These findings indicate that teacher competence is a key factor in improving learning quality, even in resource-limited school settings. The impact of this study supports the development of teacher competency enhancement programs to sustainably improve student academic performance.

Abstract

Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Penerapan media flash card di PAUD Al-Azkiya Sigar Penjalin terbukti efektif meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Arab anak usia 5-6 tahun melalui tiga tahap integratif: (1) fase pengenalan (auditory input) dengan demonstrasi kartu bergambar realistis dan pelafalan artikulatif (e.g., "هَذَا أَرْنَبٌ"), (2) fase resitasi (oral practice) melalui peniruan kolektif-individu berbantuan gestural, dan (3) fase penguatan (contextual reinforcement) via permainan interaktif yang memicu respons visual ("Gambarnya bagus, Bu!"), interaksi multisensori (e.g., menyentuh hidung saat belajar أَنْفٌ), serta peningkatan kepercayaan diri dalam merespons pertanyaan (e.g., "أَيْنَ الْعَيْنُ؟"). Keberhasilan ini didukung faktor kunci: desain visual atraktif (↑ engagement 78%), kontekstualisasi konten (e.g., kosakata قِطَّةٌ sesuai fauna lokal), integrasi permainan ("Anak tak sadar menghafal"), dan dukungan lingkungan; namun dihambat oleh keterbatasan fonologis (e.g., pelafalan قَلَمٌ → "kalam"), durasi fokus pendek (5-6 menit), dekontestualisasi gambar (e.g., unta asing), serta kerapuhan material (80% kartu rusak dalam 3 minggu).

Abstract

EFL students do not only have linguistic problems but also psychological problems when learning English. The present study aims to describe psychological problems in speaking. This study was conducted under descriptive design. Participants in this study were 33 fourth-semester students of Nursing Science at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Indonesia (STIKESI). The instrument used in this study is an online questionnaire. The findings indicate that although anxiety, lack of confidence, and fear of making mistakes are significant problems, respondents showed a generally neutral attitude toward these problems. However, the presence of these psychological barriers, coupled with shyness and lack of motivation,  suggests that targeted interventions are needed to improve English-speaking performance among respondents.
