Abstract

The 21st century demands critical reasoning, creativity, and collaboration skills as essential competencies for facing modern challenges. However, current history learning still faces obstacles such as the lack of integration of local wisdom and monotonous learning methods, resulting in low student performance in these areas. The urgency of this research is to develop an effective learning model that combines deep learning and local wisdom to improve students' 21st-century skills. This study aims to examine the effect of integrating the PCTS (Problem-Centered Thinking Skill) Deep Learning Model based on local wisdom on improving students' critical reasoning, creativity, and collaboration. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group design involving 74 students divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, observations, and interviews, then analyzed descriptively and using t-tests. The results showed a significant increase in mean gain in the experimental group for critical reasoning (8.19 vs. 3.20), creativity (8.19 vs. 3.58), and collaboration (8.06 vs. 3.56) compared to the control group, with a significance value of p = 0.000. Teachers implemented a project-based and collaborative participatory learning model despite facing technological challenges and teacher preparedness. The conclusion of this study confirms that the integration of the PCTS Deep Learning Model based on local wisdom effectively improves students' 21st-century skills in history learning.

Abstract

This research was motivated by low student enthusiasm and concentration in Social Studies (IPS) learning at SMP Negeri 1 Sutera, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This condition is evident in the high number of students exhibiting symptoms of boredom, such as wandering in and out of class, feeling sleepy, and being inactive during the learning process. This study aims to analyze the impact of implementing icebreakers on the Social Studies learning process, specifically in improving attention, concentration, and creating a pleasant learning atmosphere in grade VIII.6. This research used a qualitative approach with a field study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies with 11 informants consisting of curriculum representatives, Social Studies teachers, Civics teachers, and students in grades VIII.6 and VIII.5. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of icebreakers had a positive impact on the Social Studies learning process. Students became more focused, active, and enthusiastic in participating in the learning process. The classroom atmosphere became more dynamic and enjoyable, thereby reducing boredom and increasing interaction between teachers and students. Thus, ice breaking has proven to be effective as a strategy to create interactive and meaningful learning.

Abstract

Mathematics is a field of study that emphasizes logical and systematic reasoning. From a cultural perspective, mathematics is closely related to various community activities, which can be examined through the ethnomathematics approach. This study aims to explore ethnomathematical elements embedded in Tembe Nggoli Mbojo, a traditional woven fabric of the Bima community in West Nusa Tenggara. The research employed a qualitative method using observation, documentation, and interviews with local weavers and cultural figures. The findings reveal that the motifs of Tembe Nggoli Mbojo contain mathematical concepts such as geometric transformations (including two-dimensional shapes such as squares, rectangles, triangles, parallelograms, and rhombuses), patterns, and symmetries. These results indicate that Tembe Nggoli Mbojo not only possesses aesthetic values but also contributes to contextual mathematics learning that is culturally relevant, while simultaneously supporting cultural preservation and reinforcing national identity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work-life balance, mental health, and burnout on employee work motivation at the Bogorejo Community Health Center in Blora Regency. The background of this study is based on the phenomenon of low work motivation reflected in high rates of lateness and absenteeism, as well as pre-survey results that indicate an imbalance between work and personal life, mental health problems, and high levels of burnout. This study used a quantitative method with a survey approach, involving 56 respondents who were employees of the Bogorejo Community Health Center. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that work-life balance and mental health had a significant positive effect on work motivation, while burnout had a significant negative effect on work motivation. These findings provide important implications for human resource management in the health sector, particularly in designing policies to improve the welfare and work motivation of health workers.

Abstract

The tran sition period from family environment to elementary school is an important phase in student character building. This study aims to understand how the adaptation of the 5S culture (Smile, Salam, Sapa, Polite, and Santun) can shape the character of grade 1 students integrated with Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) values. The research method used a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods at SD Muhammadiyah 34 Cikupa, involving 28 students, teachers, and parents. Data collection techniques included six months of participatory observation, in-depth interviews, visual documentation, and field notes. The results show that there are three stages of 5S culture adaptation, namely the stages of imitation, internalization, and naturalization. The 5S culture proved effective in instilling AIK values early on, marked by a significant increase in students' positive behavior. This process is influenced by the child's personality, family involvement, and teacher exemplary. The integration of 5S culture and AIK can be an effective strategy in Islamic character education, especially in the early transition period of elementary school.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of moral disengagement and locus of control on the aggressive behaviour of repeat offenders at the Muara Enim Class IIB Correctional Institution. The background of this study is the high incidence of aggression within correctional institutions, which is thought to be influenced by certain psychological factors, particularly how individuals view moral values and their perception of self-control. The research approach used is quantitative, using a survey method. The population in this study consists of all repeat offenders at the Muara Enim Class IIB Correctional Institution, and the sample was selected using purposive sampling. The data collection instrument is a questionnaire measuring three variables: moral disengagement, locus of control, and aggressive behaviour, which have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques used multiple linear regression with the assistance of the SPSS program. The results of the study indicate that, partially, moral disengagement has a significant positive influence on the aggressive behaviour of prisoners, as does locus of control. Simultaneously, both variables together also show a significant influence on aggression. This study yielded an R value of 0.825 and an R Square of 0.680, with a significance level of p = 0.000 (<0.05) and the multiple regression equation Y = 78.379 + 0.473 X1 + -0.706 X2. These findings indicate that prisoners who tend to disengage from moral responsibility and have an external locus of control are more likely to exhibit aggressive behaviour during their prison term. The higher the level of Moral Disengagement, the more aggressive the prisoners' behaviour becomes, and conversely, the lower the level of Moral Disengagement, the less aggressive the prisoners' behaviour becomes. The higher the level of locus of control, the more aggressive the prisoners' behaviour will be, and conversely, the lower the level of locus of control, the less aggressive the prisoners' behaviour will be.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Inquiry Learning model in improving early childhood communication skills at PAUD YPJ Tembagapura, an institution with multilingual and multicultural characteristics. The research problem arises from the teachers’ challenge in fostering active interaction among children with diverse linguistic backgrounds. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation involving teachers, principals, and parents. Thematic analysis was applied to identify communication strategies and patterns of language development among children. The findings reveal that Inquiry Learning plays a crucial role in fostering children’s active, critical, and collaborative communication. Stimulating questions and exploratory activities enhance children’s curiosity, while the use of concrete media and the natural environment strengthens verbal engagement. Teachers act as active facilitators who guide children to speak, listen, and respond to peers’ ideas confidently. Inclusive strategies also help quiet children participate actively in classroom discussions. Overall, the Inquiry Learning model effectively builds children’s confidence and communication skills, making it a relevant pedagogical approach for multicultural early childhood education settings in Indonesia.
